You know Valve well that they won't have it as an exclusive but the PC platform will be the main focus.

Honestly... making a PC exclusive is just dumb. Why would a developer intentionally limit the potential profit margin for a game? I don't even own a console and I still understand that if more peopl get to play your game, you make more money. Simple as that.
KleptoZ
From the way developers have acted this gen it seems like they wouldn't mind making some PC exclusives if they manage to get a lil more money out of us.
[QUOTE="ShadowDeathX"]It won't be.IantheoneI could see it happening though. Or at least a timed exclusive. Its a massive game and would bring a lot of people to steam
$60 a pop and with 100% of the money going to valve imagine all the food gabe could buy :D
I don't care if it's on consoles. Honestly it's ok to have others enjoy the game too. Now with that said I do hope it's developed as a proper pc game, then given the console makeover by a small team as it is still in development. That way we get an awesome game and console gamers get an awesome game. Win win, because valve also gets more money from it.
Even though majority of console gamers aren't going to care for Half Life 3 and I don't even see it coming close to anything halo, call of duty, or battlefield console numbers it would be beneficial for valve to relesase it on consoles since there are some console players that enjoy Half Life and Valve gets more money. However I do have to agree that it should be developed for pc since we will get the most out of it and it would be an insult to the series if developed for consoles. If Valve is working on it now and think they should just release it in 2013 regardless if new consoles are out yet. Consierding how games like the orange box and portal 2 sold better on pc it wouldn't make sense for valve to even develop this game with console gamers in mind. They should just focus on developing it as a pc title and port it to consoles like they have with all the other half lifes.
I dont want HL3
Valve proved this gen they cant make a good game
TF2 was good before they ruined it with updates
everything else they made was mediocre casual garbage made with consoles in mind
if HL3 is going to be an upgrade to HL2, it has to be PC exclusive, both consoles are barely above 2004 hardware, if HL3 is on consoles, it will be the same as Episode 2, do you guys want that? i guess so since your happy for them to gimp it so console kiddies who cant afford a PC can play it
inbr hurr durr the PC version will be the lead platform
no it wont, when you make a multiplat game, you work with console limits, sure the PC version can have better graphics, but when it comes to Ai and Gameplay, loading screens, Map size, the PC is going to get gimped
HL2 sold 12 million on the PC apparently.[QUOTE="SAGE_OF_FIRE"][QUOTE="NoodleFighter"]
No cause we are filthy and pirates and would pirate it to death
NoodleFighter
But gasppppp it got pirated double that so look at all the lost sales WAaaaaaaa
*Ahem*, Valve, not Ubisoft.I dont want HL3

Yep and Portal 2 is just a GOTY nominee for no reason
Get your head out your ass
I don't really care. As long as the PC version gets proper treatment then it doesn't really matter to me.
While we are on the topic of portal 2 how exactly is it a console game? To me it plays fine and i bought the ps3 version to get the pc version free and I didn't notice a difference expect the pc version looked better and played better with the mouse and keybaord.
This will be the Steam Community Activity when HL3 releases.

lol nice, lets just hope steam doesnt crash from 99.9% of pc gamers playing half life 3 lol.
Anyone that isn't playing half life 3 deserves it
yup it should be only for PC....console can enjoy they super mario..

Why? Just to please some elitists like yourself? ;)
Most big PC FPSes got ported over to consoles fyi (Doom, Quake, Duke 3D, UT, Half-Life, Crysis, ect.).
As long as a game is good, IDC. Half Life 1 eventually made its way to the Xbox, and Half Life 2 is on all consoles in The Orange Box.
This is an irrelevent topic. It will be PC exclusive if Valve feels that the increased quality they could achieve from making HL3 (has this game even been announced?) a PC exclusive will translate into more sales than multiplatform development will. You may as well ask, "should Ferrari deliver a 458 Italia to my house for free?"
Don't see HL3 being exclusive although that would be sweet as we get more effort and quality put into the game. If it is multiplatform, they should at least support DX10-11 or make a new physics engine exclusive to the PC.
Should it be? I really don't care. I want the games I enjoy on the platform I'm gaming on. Now if they want to skip out on the console profit that's on them seeing as I have nothing to gain from it.
After being solely on console and reading some of the posts I really can't understand "I hope it is exclusive so they can stick it to those console players".
1. check your grammer, son[QUOTE="sailor232"]
Yes it should, do a The Witcher 2 and release the game to consoles years later. Valve deserves it to the PC gamers for waiting this long for there main franchise.

2. VALVE OWES US NOTHNG. do you really feel that entitled?
I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing gamers develop entitlement issues. How do any of these developers/publishers owe us anything?

Most FPS are multiplatform with the exception of the first party ones.

Urgh I hate this line of thinking "oh gamers have entitlement issues". You call it "entitlement issues" I call it customers stating what they want. Yes Valve does owe us something every developer making a game owes us something if they want our money. We pay their bills and as customers it is perfectly right that we should state what we want from a product.
As for Half life 3 being exclusive, I doubt it. The way Valve develops stuff these days means it will be a console port, hell they might even just leave the "do not turn your console off" messages in the PC version (and then come up with a BS reason for it).

Not sure how you can say that, CS GO is PC focused although steps are being put in place for newcomers (more than likely console gamers). Dota 2 is awesome from my 60 hours with it and portal is one of those games where the lead platform doesn't really matter.
So what exactly was wrong with Portal 2? except a random message that only a few noticed since it was fixed in hours (I didn't see it and I played it 4-5 hours after release). Was it the terrible gameplay? terrible optimization? lack of "PC features"? the only BS I ever saw regarding Valve and their way of making games is the mindless whining (except when it comes to TF 2).
Portal 2 was one of the best if not the best game made this year, if that's a "console port" (which is used more like a petty insult when you talk about games) then I hope every developer will make only console ports because it was amazing.

What difference does it make? What makes valve game great has nothing to do with technical graphics.. Seriously and people call console gamers shallow, when I see pc gamers hollering to high heaven about wanting cutting edgegraphics.. Who cares, cutting edge graphics is not whats going to have you coming back to play the game over and over again. This should be towards the BACK of the list in what we should demand of a sequel..

Enjoy the game on your console then, and don't get bothered by a PC hard like me asking a developer for preferential treatment(which is reasonable considering the hardware gap between PC and consoles).
it wont, but hopefully valve will make sure PC will be the leading platform and then port to consoles..
What does it matter when Valve puts the PC platform first? biggest_loserIt doesn't, but some are just weird that way, the biggest graphical achievement Valve ever had was AA in HL 2, their games are about art, which is why Source still looks good with only the minor updates and enhancements it had since 2004, Portal 2 is outdated in every way possible, but it's clean and the art is outstanding it makes it look much better overall than it really is and it makes it look much better than more advanced games.

Thank you for telling me that. What a smart man you are Dusty!
Believe it or not I have played a Valve game before!
You're welcome, but what was directed at you ended at "that way" and what a sarcastic and frustrated guy you are biggy.
You're welcome, but what was directed at you ended at "that way".DanielDustDon't quote me next time then.
Like all there games it will be but I wish they would incorporate features like 360 controller support and split screen better. None of there pc games support rumble and why do I have to mess with console commands and adding in config files to make split screen work on pc in there coop focused games like left 4 dead when consoles have seamless split screen support?it wont, but hopefully valve will make sure PC will be the leading platform and then port to consoles..

There's a difference between making requests as a customer and having entitlement issues. Asking for Half-Life 3 would fall into the former and be acceptable. But saying something along the lines of "OMG Why u no make HL3!! U owe us PC xclusiv Half-Life!" is a prime example of the latter and does nothing but make the developer not want to listen to whoever does that.
