Probably it will be released in 2010 (Episode 3) and no, it should not have multiplayer...why would it have something that it doesn't need?

Half-Life 3 probably won't be out until around 2015. I have a feeling Episode 3 might come out next year though. As for online, that's what Counter-Strike, Team Fortress, Left 4 Dead, and even Half-Life 2 Deathmatch are for.

Should it be?

Question is kind of subjective.

Will it be?

Probably. Console ports are basically a necessity for big budget games nowadays. Though the valve fans could probably still earn them a ton of money. If I was them I would definately release on consoles. More $.

And should it be an online game?YoshiFan04

I don't see why it wouldn't be an online game as well as Half-Life and half-Life 2 both had online multiplayer. If you mean that the online should be the main focus then I disagree as the singleplayer story has always been it's best feature. I don't care if it gets ported to PS3 and PC myself as long as the PC version ends up as a good version. I have a PS3 but I prefer PC for the bulk of my games, Half-Life being one of them.

Half life episode 3 should come out soon enough and get over with it. As for half life 3...i dont think we will be still using x360 and ps3 at the time of the release date  Wherever should be released on a console or not? Well i dont see why not. So far hl2 episodes are not being hold back in graphics by the consoles, but by valve's engine. As for gameplay? Its an oldschool fps with no lean or accuracy loss and without health regeneration. So pretty much i dont see how it can be harmfull to come out as a multiplatform game.

Half-Life 2: Episode 3 is not Half-Life 3. Half-Life 2: Episode 3 will conclude the Half-Life 2 story line, but it isn't certain what the future holds for the Half-Life series. There may or may not be a Half-Life 3, but considering Half-Life = major cash for Valve, I wouldn't bet against Half-Life 3 being released.

Maybe after Valve is done with Half-Life 2's story they can move on to Half-Life 3 and make episodes for that. Valve would still make money if they do that.

Yeap Valve ditched the PS3, if there's a PS3 version of any of their games it will be a port by whichever publisher they're using... in which case it will be crap.

Valve didn't ditch anything, they always made only the PC version. EA ported the game, and probably Valve doesn't want to invest more into PS3 ports. They make money, but they're not some huge company like EA, Ubisoft, etc.

EA ported the game to the consoles? Damn, valve is even weaker than i thought. Seriously all that money from hl series and they are still a small studio that does not even develop games multiplatform? I guess thats why gamedevlopers focus on the consoles and release so many games..... so they dont end up like valve!!!

Yep, nobody wants to end up like Valve. Who would want to make quality games, that impress with quality gameplay, not cutscenes and technology. Nobody wants to earn money over time, that's why Valve and Blizzard suck, they don't want to make most of the money from the first week and then they might get a few more sales in another year or so, they earn money like losers, constantly having sales year after year, even if the game was released 10 years ago.

Ya, but it is truly epic when they do release it. Except for Episode 1, that was a little fail but they fixed it with the Orange Box.

I enjoy that they take such a long time with it because i usually get bored of the game after a year and move onto other things. When the next iteration is released i play it again and it feels new and fresh.

"Looks at mw2 compaign..."

 Not at all!!!

Infact i think that they were greatly improved in cod4.

Also the cool gadgets in mw2 multiplayer are brand new ideas.

Now what does hl2 episode has.....lets see... not even one new weapon? :( Why is it so hard to come up with a new weapon or a gameplay feature/capability?

What do you mean online? THere are online modes like deathmatch, counter strike etc. The singleplayer should NOT be online and it should and will be a pc exclusive. 360 and ps3 will be too weak to be able to run the game rofl.

It's common knowledge. There's only going to be one main HL game each engine, and it's expansions.

By the time Half-Life 3 is released the PS3 and Xbox 360 will be collecting dust somewhere. Half-Life 3 won't come out for an extremely long time, look how long it's taking Valve just to release Half-Life 2: Episode 3.

If you were talking about Half-Life 2: Episode 3, then it will only come out for PC and the Xbox 360. Valve thinks the PS3 is a waste of time.

If you know anything about the half-life series you would know that the episodes are not rehashes. Every single half-life game has focused on story and character development. Gameplay and game style has not changed since the original half-life. They've added a new engine with enhanced physics but the core game is exactly the same and everyone still loves it. Definitely no need to fix something that isn't broken.

Half life had expansions with major improvements and many new weapons and enemies, hl2 episodes...are just "episodes" pulling the story further like a TV series that doesnt wanna freaking end!!! So how is it not a rehash? As for character development...sorry bud, half life had none of all those things the "HL2 series" are so known about. See what i did there? HL2 series, in other world rehashes because a sequel cant have its own series ;) My agrument is not if they added a new engine with enhaced physics from half life, the argument is if they have done any significant improvement to the HL series since 2004? Answer is no, they have not done neither a technological improvement or a gameplay features improvement or added many new weapons and enemies like they did with opposing force and blue shift. Ohh and i dissagree, the core gameplay is not the same as it was in half life. Half life is hands down my most favoirte fps, with plenty of action and combat. HL2 on the other hand is by far the most overatted fps i ever played and not a worthy sequel to half life, more physics and gravity gun puzzles and less action and combat like the original half life. So pretty much the closest thing to half life in the hl2 and episodes is Episode 2. Just balance the story/characters/puzzles/combat the way they did with episode 2 and i will have no complains on episode 3.

I think they should release episode 3 next year for sure, and have a new engine for HL3, so that it brings something new to the table. The source engine is starting to look really outdated.

The HL expansions did not have major improvements. They were continuations of the storyline of the first game. In fact, they didn't continue the storyline but rather explained the original storyline in more detail. The HL2 episodes added more new story to the game than the HL expansions ever did.

They added better graphics and an enhanced storyline with more character development. As well as adding awesome vehicle segments which were never part of the original. Other than that the 2004 game was as close to a perfect FPS that has ever been made. Obviously there was nothing significant that needed improvement other than the graphics.

The original HL did focus on characters as well. In case you don't recall most of the main characters in HL2 were from the original and remenisce about it throughout HL2. And all the HL expansions did was further the character development from the original.

In OP and BS they didn't add any new features aside from calling in reinforcements and having somewhat of a squadlike aspect. Those features don't really fit into the HL story anyway.

And the core gameplay is exactly the same. The added phsyics puzzles are just a new feature which you refuse to acknowledge as such. The core FPS gameplay is identical to the original, they changed nothing in that regard. And you spend a lot more time blowing the **** out of bad guys than you do solving physics related puzzles.

If you liked the balance of the story/characters/puzzles/combat in HL2 I don't see what your complaint was in the episodes, they are all just as equally balanced, albeit shorter.

Half-Life 2: Episode 3 should be released and primarily developed for PC. As for it showing up on another platform... I don't care as long as the PC version is all that it can be.

You overapreciate the tiny improvements they did in the episodes. Still they did look dated. Also in half life there was not much of use or care for the characters since you could kill them or have two Barneys at the same time. I belive that half life and the episodes were balancec correctly whle hl2 started as action and then focuses heavilly on puzzles and gravity gun use instead of combat. For the most of the time the use of reinforcemants was pretty meh.

It should be released on any platform that doesn't hold its design back. And no, singleplayer focus, multiplayer can be an addition.

In other words, every non portable platform in this generation apart from the wii.
