i agree, but when its a blatant copy of another game it should be burned in a stake

It isn't a copy of WoW. It may borrow a few things, but to call it a copy is wrong. Sorry.

I dissagree, 99% of mmos have crap story's, hopefully The Old Republic changes this

Maroxad

Problem is the typical MMO player doesn't care about story and does not even read the quests, they just race around finding question mark guys, click the accept button on all of them, and go kill 10 of this and bring back 10 of that, and deliver this to that guy over there so he can give you another accept button to click and you can deliver something to a new zone and start all over again. Story? Reading? Why.....that would slow down leveling!

The problem is the poor storytelling, that is why people are uninterested. With Bioware quality storytellling, they might get people to actually care. If anyone has the potential to make us care about the story in an mmo it is Bioware. And this is coming from a Bioware hater.

No, poor storytelling is NOT the problem, MMOs are player driven, the primary focus is competition or cooperative play with other players. This mixing of SP and MP will result in alot of people still skipping that 100s millions of wasted money on in a heartbeat.

they just have light sabers and laser guns instead of swords and staffs. But if you dont see their core gameplay as a copy then you probably havent played many mmorpgs

MMO's are content-driven. Players are just there for the ride, with the possible exception of those niche sandbox / building-type MMO's I probably can't even name.

I never understood the people who say MMO's should be down to one formula, and then we get others who insist that the mainstream selection is all made up of a bunch of clones / just not diverse enough.

Krelian I guess you missed the part where the smuggler heroicly stood there doing nothing. And one handed ranged weapons, how often do you see that :P. Nah I agree with you, what is even more sad is how the game from those videos looks like it plays like those medieval fantasy mmos despite star wars being science fantasy. I dont know about you but SWTOR looks like a lot of wasted potential.

Fine then, the poor storytelling is one of the problems.

But yeah, this mixture of SP and MP was a terrible idea, and I feel both aspects will only hinder eachother.

I had hoped a new mmorpg would bring a healthy raiding game schedule per week for the player but no they want people addicted and on a stressful schedule in game so they never put the game down and are assured of resubscribing each month. Funny thing is if a company makes a game good enough people will always subscribe even if they get to do less per week. Mmorpg player community really needs healthy gaming again and companies that make games need to include this in their thought process when creating future games.

DeViLzzz

This doesn't make any sense.

Should the game not be fun to play? I don't see them having a line that injects nicotine into your body whenever you play. The player chooses how much they play. Not the company.

Weak people will always blame games and companies for their problems. Either you're strong enough to realize you should get out of the hosue sometimes, or you're weak-minded and continue to play at the degradation of your life.

Your missing the point. They want end game dungeon loot whoring , teamplay and PvP , my addicted freinds play dungeon siege 3 and skip the entire story, this is similar in mmos, those kinds of gamers wont want to listen to a 2-3 minute dialogue of text... they wont give a damn about it. having voices wont change this.... theyle be racing to max level and looking for teh Reublic vs empire.... straight off.
