I'm enjoying this mod, makes the game look alot better and the combat is more fun. Instead of 100 rounds to kill someone, it only takes a few well placed shots, although this works the same for you. Only problem is some bits that always crash. For instance, at the bandit farm out the lab X18, after the spetznaz sweep in there is one bandit/stalker with an silenced mp5. Every time i try and equip it, the game crashes. Anyone know how to stop this or should i just uninstall the mod?
anyone know how to use the sleeping bag or where to find it?machiavell8x8
in your inventory there should be a sleeping bag.. just select it and pick how many hours u want to sleep
I downloaded this bad boy this morning.
I'm not too sure about the modification to the darkness levels though - at night it's virtually impossible to see without your flashlight turned on? Also, I'm not entirely convinced that the graphics updates in general are all that pronounced. I think, maybe, if you hadn't told me my STALKER had been modified that I might not have even noticed.
I'm not complaining, though. I prefer this version to the original, and I tip my hat to the individuals who worked on this. Modders are awesome.
I got about halfway through STALKER the first time (before losing my mojo, and moving on to play something else), and I had planned on bypassing this game altogether, and starting Clear Sky this week. Now I'm not so sure about that. I might return to STALKER and try it again. I have a GTX 275 that will be arriving tomorrow, for my Core i7, and Clear Sky was going to be the first game I was going to run on it. But this modified STALKER also seems to need a lot of juice, so maybe I'll start there. Or maybe I'll play them both concurrently!
Anyhow, thanks for the thread O.P. - I wouldn't have known about this mod without the post. (How on earth did we ever function as gamers without the internet?)
This mod sure does make the game look a lot better, but at the same time performance was very dissatisfactory for me! With a 8800GT 512MB I experienced severe choppiness for visuals that really didn't justify it, as good as they are they still aren't that great.

for a quick fix, open this file with notepad:
gamedata-->config-->misc-->unique_items.ltx
locate the special mp5 weapon from the list:
[wpn_mp5_m2]:wpn_mp5
and edit these lines, so they look like this:
inv_grid_x = 6
inv_grid_y = 22
inv_grid_width = 3
It will look shorter, but that's ok, before the silencer made the weapon icon too long to fit into a first slot, now it fits and works. I will add the fix to patch 1.2

I've got the same card, pretty much - a 9800gt.
Two months with this computer (Alienware Core i7), and no game has given me a problem, until now - both of the Stalker games are choppy. I'm hoping that this new GTX 275 is going to do the trick - I mean, it had better, right?
I'd forgotten how tough this game can be.
I got radiated, and was being set upon by barking dogs, and people were shooting at me... I think I need a hug. :(

having to use a flashlight to see at night is what i love about this mod, its creepy as hell lol. its mostly realistic except your eyes would adjust a little bit after a while. the problem is it seems like the AI has a better idea where im at, compared to me knowing where they are at. so that aspect might need tweaked a tiny bit, but i like the creepyness anyways, makes me want to find a "safe" place to sleep at night, which really draws you farther into the stalker experienceI downloaded this bad boy this morning.

At first it was just shocking how dark it was - but now I really like it. It works well with the game, because the game is really aimed towards hardcore gamers. There's no hand holding in this game - it's great.I'd like to take back what I said earlier about the visuals on this mod being only a minor upgrade. The upgrade is actually quite pronounced. The textures are much, much richer than they are in the plain vanilla version.
The reason I can say this is that ten minutes ago I started up Clear Sky, and I'd have to say that, visually, this modified version of Shadow Of Chernyobyle... or however you spell that... is an even better looking title.
Really nice work on this mod.
The gameplay is very compelling too. My only complaint is that there are times when it's a fine line between the game being entertaining and just downright frustrating. That said, if combat is too easy, and you never die, then the game ends up feeling shallow. All I can say is thank god for the quick-save. I love it when people advance the idea that a quick-save feature 'ruins' the game for them - yeah, right. Whatever. My god, you'd have to be out of your brains to play this game without hitting the quick save button every sixty seconds. I've already died a hundred deaths. Bloody difficult game. Bloody difficult.
The other thing I wanted to mention was the 'down time' (from fighting) that you'll experience in this game. Every now and then you'll come upon Stalker camps, which act as places of sanctuary. Some of these camps are actually small towns (which are fun to explore in their own right), and these allow you some much needed respite from the battle. You can buy and sell equipment at these places of sanctuary, or get new missions from the other Stalkers.
It's just really cool to have that feature in the game, and I wish that more first person shooters would include it.
I see that there are 4 difficulty levels: Novice, Stalker, Veteran, and Master.
I chose to play at the Stalker level, and, at times, I'm having such an insanely difficult time getting past certain areas that I'm literally quick-saving every sixty seconds (you have to be careful that you don't quick save yourself into a corner, though, which has almost happened to me twice now.) At one point I had to advance down a very narrow road, which was heavily guarded, and also radiated - after 45 minutes of trying, and either getting shot to death, or radiated, I had to give up and walk away (and as is usually the case, when I came back to it, after having been away, I made it through on my first attempt).
The Stalker difficulty level reminds me of the Infamous difficulty level in Far Cry 2 - one hit, at close range, and that's it, it's lights out, curtains closed.
But has anybody here ever played at the Master level all the way through? I can't even imagine how frustratingly difficult that must be?
thank you guys you finally made one of my favourite games playable :) this mod pack is so amazing :)
now that we can play SoC in high quality the only thing left for s.t.a.l.k.e.r fans is to wait for Call of Pripyat and the S.T.A.L.K.E.R project that will be made with the cryengine 3 :) thanks again :) cant wait for patch 1.2 and some extra stuff :)
There is a problem with the Mod though don't know what is causing it.
In the starter area after i added the 1.1 patch all the stalkers in this place are now standing and holding their weapons as if something is going to attack..
Problem is that they are facing a wall...can't hear the new guitar themes or anything.
sataricon
same thing could happen in unmodded version, it's not like that all the time right?
guitar themes come with patch 1.2, which I will post tomorrow, along with better English localization and other neat stuff.
I just installed this mod and it looks really nice. Thanks devious for the instructions since i had no idea what a .7z file was. I'll have to play this some tomorrow after school, i'd never completely finished the game, but i had just started over and this makes me want to play some more.
My GTX 275 arrived today - I take back what I said about this mod making the original Stalker look better than the sequel. Clear Sky, in DX 10, with all the sliders maximized, has got to be one of the most beautiful games in existence. The swamp area is amazing.
New patch is up, hope you like the changes:

I haven't touched stamina, later in game you'll get more weapons and your weight will limit the sprint, like in vanilla.
just install that HUD version ontop, it won't have nice colors, but will bring back stamina:

deleting harmonica ogg files is bad idea, because the campfire script will look for it and crash, I think they play guitar a lot still.
I have to take my words back and saynew game is required even if your old saves work,the reason for that, is that most bug fixes are written in all.spawn file and the game reads from it only when creating new game, that's not the only reason.
My game is crashing sometimes when i hit save, esc, or sometimes spacebar after i have died. It is not every time but there is no way i can play it with it crashing like this. Anyone know how i could fix this?
chikinlad
did u start a new game?
new game is required when you install this mod in general, patch 1.2 should not cause crashes or require you to restart, try to install gamedata from base archive and patch 1.2 ontop, current saves should work.
vanilla saves don't work or work but cause problems later
saves from SC2009 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 work with each new patch, given new game was started
I updated readme, but I wish I knew that earlier.
UPDATE:
patch 1.21 is up, this is a crucial update, it fixes the low AI accuracy I set by mistake in patch 1.2.
http://paveldolgov.com/mods/patches/STALKER_Complete_2009_patch_1.21.7z
Patch 1.21:
- fixed AI accuracy (it was configured low by mistake in patch 1.2, making the game easy)
- added Ambient Audio Overhaul v095
- added S.T.A.L.K.E.R Sound Remake Mod v.4.0 (stealth, unique weapons have unique sounds, proper harmonica samples, etc.)
- 84 additional acoustic guitar compositions (live performance by MulleR)
- added Repair Mod (Eng) 2.5 (bar trader can repair weapons)
- added Repair Kit 1.1
- added Gnomus's Scopes V2.0 (for wide and standard screens, see updated ReadMe FAQ on how to switch)
- added Raw Onion Revamp Mod 1.05 (this mod corrects many typographical errors in the game, provides better English localization)
- fixed game crash when trying to equip silenced M5P
- retouched rain texture to be more visible
- retouched AK-74 and AK-74SU textures
- tweaked cursor
- motion blur optimization

I turned dot into a cursor but explained in the ReadMe how to get it back.
Sataricon, dreams are random, they don't play everytime.

Hmmm...I followed the install directions, but I can't seem to get the game to work. I keep getting a bug error from my xrcor.dll. :(
edit: there is no existing gamedata folder in my main Stalker folder. There are individual gamedata database files, but no folder to overwrite with the mod gamedata folder.
