Launch Report:

One of the smoothest (if not THE smoothest) I've ever seen.
[QUOTE="FelipeInside"]BTW, does space combat and upgrading ur ship do ANYTHING? Or is it just for fun? What I'm asking is, should I even bother...?wis3boiI get nice credit loot and 10k XP for space missions, i see no reason not to do them
The space missions are not only a great source for XP (10k xp in 3-4 minutes is great at level 16), but they also provide a good chance of pace. Do the missions once a day and you got a bit more variety to spice up the levelling.
[QUOTE="Johnny_Rock"][QUOTE="bleacher6"]Thats always a good thing to hear :). Guess its time ive picked it up then.

You need to get this game. It is simply awesome!
Werent you trashing the game pretty hard before release, or were you just joking? What made you change your thoughts?I was in early beta, and even though I was trashing it, I knew I was going to buy it anyway. (I'm an MMO whore). But they've improved the difficulty (beta was a breeze) and crushed many bugs and for the first time I am trying tradeskills and am loving every aspect of the game. I am the first to admit when I am wrong about something.

I think Beta was supposed to be easy... they did it that way I think on purpose because it was more of a stress test. What do you think of the companion system so far and who is your favorite companion?
I like 2V-R8, always wanted a robot that feared me, fits my character perfectly
As for the companion system itself, I like the idea, but I feel the execution was pretty lousy. We have very limited control of our companions, very little customization of them, and I personally think that almost each and every companion being class exclusive was just a bad idea.
I dont know if I am the only one, but I thought Guild Wars Nightfall handled companions much better. Still doesnt change the fact that companions are a big plus for this game, especially for healers like me.

I don't know why but I can't bring myself to buy the damn game! I played the beta quite a bit but I always got pulled back into EVE. I love the Star Wars universe. I love mmos ( been playing since EQ ) But something about this game just dosen't sit right. They focused so much on the dialogue and voice acting but it's complete crap compared to what Bioware usually brings to the table. The movement and controls are stiff, but that's what you get after playing WoW. Which is my #1 love about WoW. Character control is so smooth it almost seems flawless.
I just don't know what SWTOR brings to the table that other mmos don't. EVE's complexity and harshness weeds out the bad players from the good and keeps the trolling teenagers out. WoW's flawless polish makes it always enjoyable no matter if you're pve'ing, pvp'ing or just exploring.
How is this game gonna take me off the EVE CRACK?! I really want someone to convince me here!

As far as my experience in PvP, it is absolutely amazing. Their is really a lot of depth and strategy behind these warzones. Huttball obviously being the stand out. A capture the flag where you can throw the flag to your allies? Allows for absolutely crazy coordination and skill. Voidstar also requiring a lot of coordination and teamwork (somewhat mimicking a BFBC2 Rush feel gametype). Alderan does too, but this particular warzone is tried and true and has been done in many MMO's before. (Alderan still personally being my favorite though, it is just a "hold the points" warzone.)
The bolster system for the most part works well, even at level 10 it is possible to kill a level 50. The only way you are really limited is that they have more talents/skills than you do, but what you do have will still hit hard. So far I gotta say, the classes appear to be fairly balanced. Bounty Hunters and Troopers seem to top charts, but it is solely for people allowing them to freecast. They are essentially glass cannons. I play a bounty hunter and if I get some melee in my grill, I got 2-3 tricks up my sleeve, otherwise I'm dead if so-called abilities are on cooldown.
Needless to say, the PvP is just fun, there is no other way to say it. I have a blast in every match I play win or lose. On my server during early access, if Sith played Republic, Sith auto-won. However, with the influx of new blood since release...now the matches seem to be 50/50, which I suppose is good, winning 100% of the time never seemed to get old though, but a challenge is welcome. Only aggravating thing is that you can not have a full premade, which I think is a poor choice. Playing with friends is always fun, and they took that out as far as warzones are concerned. (Although you can still have a 4-party). Haven't seen world PvP yet, despite being on a PvP server and having a level 32 and a level 26, but maybe I was at the wrong spots at the wrong times? /shrug.

Eh that's not good news for me =/ Not having world PvP KILLED WoW for me. I really hope it's just the almost impossibly unlucky circumstances for you. Scripted PvP is fun and all but it get's tiring fast. The only MMO that ever got battlegrounds right was DAOC imo. But that game had the best pvp in any mmo to date. How are the stealth classes fairing damage wise? I was thinking a Scoundrel but that healing kit makes me think they're gonna have a hard time balancing them and probably nerf the damage a bit too low for my liking.

Stealth classes are fairing just fine, hell, as a BH I am having trouble with them. I think it is because I am missing some vital abilities to deal with them with my current level though. I wish I could say otherwise of world PvP, but I'd be lieing if I said I have seen much of it. I do know that I am looking forward to Ilum though. It is an endgame planet that has the sole design for world PvP. Since you played WoW, an operative healing is just like a ret pally healing. Sure you can do it, but you will go oom hellishly fast for minimal results. I do not think any damage will be nerfed for the sake of them having some heals.

Most MMO beta's ramp the difficulty up and then adjust down based on observation and feedback. That is what I was basically expecting with TOR. So I was thinking they were going to make it even easier... Glad I was wrong.
I agree about the difficulty, the Beta was too easy. But now I find the difficulty to be just right. Much harder than WoW in its current state (you can actually die).

I''m thankful it isn't a true grindfest like WoW where pretty much the only and main objective is to get to 85.[QUOTE="Elann2008"][QUOTE="Maroxad"]Leveling actually takes a lot more time and effort than WoW. Agreed, part of me wonders why WoW even has levelling in the first place. It is so brief, and so tedious. At least SWTOR makes good use of the levelling experience, unlike WoW.

Wish I could matey, but I joined THE HARBRINGER cause it's the Unofficial Oceanic Server, which is great because lots of Aussies are playing since our time schedule is different from US and Europe. The GREAT NEWS for us is that the game launches March 1st, and the reason of the late launch is because BioWare plans to install LOCAL SERVER here. (Love u BioWare for this), and even let Australians who are already playing switch for FREE to these new servers.Earlier in the thread I said I was playing a Jedi Sage, now I switched to Sith Shadow and I'm enjoying it more, love all the sarcasm my character throws at them npc, it's hilarous. Going light side, and I'm always trying to do the opposite thing a Sith would do - sure gives me entertainment.
I'm hoping in the coming weeks/months they'll fix the performance/fps issues a lot of people have been having including me. That would sure motivate me to keep playing after the first month, just to have a smooth gameplay experience.
A Sith who is good.... don't worry, I'll send my Sith Inquisitor (Gralak) to sort you out soon :-P As for framerate, I only get slowdowns in the mayor cities where lots of players are around... but that happened in WoW and LOTRO too.Earlier in the thread I said I was playing a Jedi Sage, now I switched to Sith Shadow and I'm enjoying it more, love all the sarcasm my character throws at them npc, it's hilarous. I don't consider 15min long to wait for one of the biggest MMOs in history on Launch Week, could have been a lot worse. My server nearly always has queues (unless I get up really early). It's always around 10-15min which is nothing, I just go make myself a coffee while waiting.[QUOTE="Prexxus"]Congratz. Still on the fence with getting the game. I was in the Beta and while i liked the story and cutscenes everything else was a bit poor. The combat didnt feel great, animations were poor and enemies didnt feel "alive" (many just stand on a spot with very little movement). Also theres the high price tag for just buying the game (£35-45), which i think is far too much especially since its an MMO with a subscription.
I'll probably wait for a few months too see what state its in, i do have a small feeling though that it will eventually end up like DCUO (Another MMO i spent £35 on and after 5 days i got very bored of).
I still don't get the price thing. U pay full price and get 30 days with it free. Then it's $15 x month. Both in free month and then later u get more content than most SP and MP games.Still on the fence with getting the game. Been playing SWTOR for the last few days. Got a Jedi Guardian to 27 and started leveling up an Inquisitor to 15 but stopped playing the Inq mainly because the people talking in general were ****. I'm going to start leveling an Imperial Agent and see how the class plays. Game is good so far but I can't speak for endgame content or its longevity.
One thing that I find annoying is the lag in PVP, just doesnt seem as smooth as WoW does, this is with 45ms and a GTX580, peformance just seems to be a bit crap in PVP.V4LENT1NESWTOR optimisation is not the best right now, I'm hoping nVidia will release drivers for the 500 series sometime soon that improves performance. Also waiting for Bioware to further optimise their game as well but they have a metric-ton of other stuffs they need to fix and improve before the game becomes much better.

Story can last days depending on how much time you have..How fast you can do your main class missions..Some are easy but very far..You have to fight your way there...Others are tough an require at least one more person preferably a healer to help..Friend and myself as im a sage are having no issues with our main misssions..Our pets are the dps most of the time in the group..Still having a blast as we go..
