And yet another thread revive?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Point to make, you don't need a stupidly big world to make the game good, hell if you make the world to big then some people might get bored, what you need has allready been mentioned really a more indepth story and history. If you have that then even if the world is only as large as about half of morrowind people will carry on playing.
And as to the fact this thread's been revived, does anyone really mind? I mean come on, the more ideas people get out the more ideas the modders can get for when it finally comes out, and as its supposedly out next year Maximum PC news article
Oblivion was watered down and a bit dullcompared toMorrowind. It also lacked the mood of exploration andmystique of Morrowind. Scaling enemies and lootneeds to be lessened by far and the persuasion system needs to be totally retooled. Artifacts should NOT scale to level.
Sell the IP to a better dev and go jump in a lake = best TES ever. ManicAceAre you one of those annoying elitist rpg fans who think isometric, turn based rpg's are the only true rpgs? Ive been playing rpg's since the days of wizardy and such and I recognize Morrowind as one of the best RPG's ever made. Hating Bethesda doesn'tmake you cool.

TrashfaceAre you one of those annoying elitist rpg fans who think isometric, turn based rpg's are the only true rpgs? Ive been playing rpg's since the days of wizardy and such and I recognize Morrowind as one of the best RPG's ever made. Hating Bethesda doesn'tmake you cool. No, I play and like both isometric and 1st/3rd person RPGs, and I like both real-time and turn-based combat systems, those certainly don't make or break a RPG for me. The problem is that TES is plain b-o-r-i-n-g, like some friggin mmorpg just offline, the gameworld itself imo has potential for a much more interesting experience.
summerset isle would be nice to see, morrowind would only be good if you as an expansion to find out where the dwemer went, skyrim would be sweet, hammerfell would be good but already been there in that pirate game, black marsh honestly has nothing there but ugly swamps id only want it if i could go to elsweyr and valenwood(which has very big trees). going back to cyrodill is likely because of the empire falling and it needing an emperor, skyrim i must say though would be awesome
I'm waiting for someone to suggest that it be everywhere to be honest.
And a word for the critics out there who don't like this 'style' of RPG, come up with ideas to make it better, that's the beauty of having construction sets ya know, you can change the world to fit what you want. Hell there are people out there who would rewrite the story for you if you asked, modders when their in the right mood could probably take a terrible game and make it a classic. So give ideas for them to use, even if its something unoriginal like build a Jedi temple in the heart of the imperial city, or possibly add proper terrifying but beautiful, town destroying dragons who can use magic as well as use various forms of breath powers.
With modders around a game has unlimited possibilities.
Skyrim? I'd rather not run around and constantly bump into smug High Elves. But I'm hoping they set it in a fantasy-esque environment. Sure the forests were great in Cyrodiil, but I cant think of anywhere besides Morrowind that would set that feel. I was thinking the game could be set in Hammerfell, but from what I know it should just look a lot like the West Weald. So I guess Skyrim might be better...As long as theres a healthy balance between races. Other than that, cool! Cant wait. :DMyrkanWell if you didnt notice, skyrim is the land of the nords, brickface. Jesus when will anyone ever be nerdy enough toto get a good iq?
[QUOTE="k3ck"][QUOTE="VinnoT"]I want it to be more like Morrowind than Oblivion. ShotGunBunny
also ditto...Morrowind was so much better
Yes. Oblvion was no morrowwind for the new generation. It was something else entirely.
If they scale their enemies again i may drive up there and protest.
when they do make a new one i think they should let you be able to choose from different pasts/story-lines for your character and choose a personal goal that goes with a quest. that way the main quest is more about your character personally.
id like it bigger than morrowind or oblivion
id like them to finish elder scrolls 2 (because literally it was 1/2 baked theres textures, quests, menus, and groups that arent even used in game and there on the cd and in the installed content there was apparently a chain of brothels and dragons to fight)
id like to see a better AI
id like to see the cost for using fast travel again (aka days can pass and you can miss npc's at locations as a result)
id like to see more freedom of movement (climbing, pushing, pulling for example)
id like to see more places not listed on a map that arent quest associated
id like to see slowfalling and lycanthropy brought back
id like to see easier to navigate plains of oblivion (sometimes it was downright confusin)
id like them to give a better reward for becoming leader of the mages guild (alchemy box really??)
Morrowind was one of the worst games i have ever played. Horrible world, horrible story, horrible combat, horrible third person, horrible graphics, not a fun world to be in. Oblivion was 100x better. I played Morrowind before Oblivion so i could see what the series was like and Morrowind almost made me not buy Oblivion (im glad i bought it anyways). I REALLY wish TES5 is more like Oblivion (i am sure it will be anyways).
Edit: the only bad thing about Oblivion that i wan't different in TES 5 was the length. i beat Oblivion in about 6-8 hours and side quests are just gimmicks ("oooh we have 500 side quests yeahhhh, they have nothing to do with the story and there is no real reward for it because after the main story your character is already as powerful as he needs to be yeahhhh"). Basically, i want less pointless side quests and more story quests.
The region doesn't matter. I want an improved Morrowind (gameplay-wise), with Daggerfall skills/level up system and Oblivion combat system. The fist thing Bethesda should do is ban the compass and map markers for quests. The player must interact with NPCs and explore the world in order to find their objetives. The Elder Scrolls is a RPG series for RPG players, not an action-adventure for mainstream gamers.

With all due respect, I looked over your ratings and you are not really an RPG fan. You seem to lean more towards action gaming. ES was originally an RPG geared towards RPG fans. RPG fans are the only reason the series still exists and Bethesda really made a big turn around with Oblivion by streamlining the way they did for action gamers like you. I am not saying that you should like Oblivion but 9/10 big ticket games are action type so I would appreciate it if Bethesda let us have our RPG back. There are plenty of other games out there to fill the action genre gap.
Disclaimer: I dont hate Oblivion as a stand alone game, I just hate how Bethesda alienated their faithful fans from ES1-3 by streamlining and watering down the series to make more money (they were already very profitable before). I think this will hurt them significantly come ES5 because people like me will not be playing it until it hits $10 in the stores.
Personally, I rather just see Bethesda take the action further and abandon the RPG term. Oblivion is a horrible RPG, but 1 million times better action game than Morrowind. I just don't have the time and patience for a RPG game like Morrowind so I hope TES V is an open ended action game instead of a role playing game

That's why I wrote "personally in my opinion". If a sandbox game like GTA works then I don't see how it couldn't work in a fantasy world and in first person perspective.

it did go try the witcher
They need to add some new elements for questing and character development. Morrowind had the political quests and stuff where you could work for different political parties. Oblivion lacked this and many other things. I'd like them to add a more diverse set of quests and things you can do and buildings you can own and customize more.
They really need to update the Gamebryo engine to include realtime lighting on everything. If they did I'd pretty much be sold.
My brother's friend was able to get (i guess it would be called) a beta disc version of the elder scrolls 5 through The Make A Wish program. He has a terminal illness, and has alwasys been a huge Elder Scrolls fan. Unfortunately the doctors say he doesnt have much longer. Bethesda was really nice and sent him this disc. Although i havn't played it, i have watched for a few hours, and i will say - Everyone here will be impressed. Bathesda has asked not to give out details, so im just keeping my part of the bargain. The world that it takes place in has sooo much character and detail. There is a snowy part of the map, and it looks so relaxing and is so mysterious. Its amazing and i can't wait to get the finished copy when it comes out.dwade987blue1
Sure mate make fun of people with terminal illness's and dont get our hopes up like that (are u telling the truth a pray to god u are please bethesda)
More morrowind less oblivion.
I want to look for places that i need to go to. Read about the stuff in the world and places that might be nice to visit. I want a world not just done with a random command. I want to die if i go to the wrong place at the wrong time. And so on and so forth.
The game needs better interaction with the npcs. Sure they walk around and usually follow a daily schedule, but thats it.... You kill them, you don't kill them, it doesn't matter. I'd also like the vampire bits fleshed out by, oh, say 700%? I'm not a vampire buff but oblivions vampiric features were pretty pathetic, even with great mods.flclempireI 100% agree.
Sounds too rough to me, die because you went to the wrong time at the wrong time? I got nothing against leveling up to be stronger and exploring but atleast make a mark to the worldmap for the important main quest areas, not the exact location of the npc but point me at the right direction, why npcs gave you directions on morrowind but they cant mark it on your map? How hard is to mark something on a map or atleast use a map that has the names of each location. so when a npc tells you to go to the "NAME" mine then you look at the map and find it instead of running around in circles trying to figure out where to go.More morrowind less oblivion.

KalDurenik
I want a prequel to Oblivion, sort of. Not in the same storyline, but before all that Mehrune's Dagon nonsense happened, possibly during the Tiber Septim era, with the main character being part of his legion going around. It'd create a great setting in my opinion (because I think Tamriel was far more divided at that time, so there would be a lot of border skirmishes n' dat.)

Yes i want one to die if you go wrong. I don't want to run around as a god at level 1.
I agree, i agree but i also wanna know where to go to progress the game, so i can avoid it and level up my character first.dakan45Follow the main story line of course. It's not difficult.

Nah, i like games that dont bore me to death.
Eg: The dumbed down and simplistic mass effect was borring to me despite the fact it had amazing graphics and sci fi setting.
But i enjoyed the witcher and dragon age like hell despite being hard and dragon age not having amazing graphics.
Simply they were more interesting!!!

Just the names of the areas the npcs mention on the damn map. Whats the use the map if it does not help you find the location you are looking for?;) Anyway is that "too much" dumbed down for you?

I agree, more specifically one thing I'd like to see them bring back was the barter system. In Oblivion is was automatically set according to your barter level, rather where in Morrowind you could manually adjust the price of which you want to sell at, this is more true to what actual bartering is.
