The (Un)Official Bad Company 2 Beta Discussion

Some things about the accuracy:

1-Aiming in iron sights view and firing in VERY SHORT burst (2-4 bullets) is EXTREMELY accurate at distances up to 50 mts, and you can kill any player with 2-3 of these burst at these distance.

2-On the other hand, full auto fire + you running or sprinting is uber unaccurate even at 2 feets of your target.

3-The game claims ballistic drop over distance, but the basic sniper rifle can shot from the first promontory to the first line of 3 floor buildings in the first defender's respawn post with minimal drop.

4-Knife is instakill and very usefull instead reloading or changing to pistol in cqc.

No, texture detail is higher and PS3 lacks any antialiasing filter and doesn't support ambient occlusion shading, plus anisotropic filter -if any- is a lot more weak in the console. This doesn't mean that the level of detail in PC's BC 2 is as high as in other top notch PC games, as Mirror's Edge, but in you take into consideration the scale and the amount of people interacting the picture is overall very impressive.

-The weapons feel accurate in iron sights but takes half magazine to kill people at mid ranges -in full auto- so if you don't headshot the people I think that the overall damage is a bit lower than in BF 2, but the aiming is sharper.Ondoval

Just like i said, it plays like a console game. Eg like far cry 2. The weapons are accurate and weak. I guees they tweaked a bit for the pc version.

Anyway it does not have better ballistics than cod just like swifstrike said. Or atleast i dont consider weapons that fire weak and accurate bullets, "better ballistics" than cod.

Beta is so fun.

1- loving how it forces you to use burst instead of aim and spray, it forces you to pick your targets carefully

2- Liking the snipers

My only complaint is the gap between teams. When you have two equal teams and people are working as squad, the game is soo ****ing fun; but when the gap isnt even, and you are getting owned from every side, then it gets tedious an annoying. Overall im loving the beta, im a specialist 2 right now :)

i think you should try lowering effects to low this will boost performance and imo i found it makes the game looks better then if its on high(badly implemented bloom). Then you could increase the AA a bit which this game needs.

Currently I'm playing at average 45-50 fps, really don't need much more. The beta doesn't give the option to increase the AA over X1 -even probably I could enhance itusing the Nvidia harware panel.

But what you say about the AO is true, yue can see in this review that the visual differences between high abd low details aren't as big -aside from the lack of grass- and the game enhances a lot the framerrate with the AO off. So far I'm currently happy with the framerrate with settings maxed.

FYI: Sniper rifles actually deal more damage in BC2, btw (1shot to chest is a kill). So do pistols, in my experience. I can kill 2-3 people with just 7 bullets from my M1911. I use my pistol in CQC and my assault rifle in medium to long range engagements.

What keys are you pressing to chat? They are J K L ; I think.

Some times the weapons don't update, to fix change your class and click a different weapon and then go back. Should fix it.

I think it's awesome :D

But it's bad optimized for PC :(

Look guys, simple truth is: the beta is pretty damn good fun.

But what some of you, and loads of people in the beta fail to realise, is that IT IS A BETA. Of course it will have issues, but they have month to sort them out.

Just tried out hardcore mode for a little while.. it's awesome! Much more like BF2. I hope more servers follow suit, because so far I've only seen one company doing hardcore mode.. and their servers seem kinda laggy.

Same here, I haven't been able to spend quite as much time with the beta as I'd like, however, so far the more I've been playing it the more I like it ;)

Straight up comparison to BF2 and it feels like some elements are missing, but everyone knew in advance this wasn't BF3. Even so, more than anything else I find myself deeply missing prone in the game -- perhaps worth the sacrifice, I could imagine it being overly advantageous to sniping and slowing the game down though.

In addition there is certainly room for improvements such as the FOV, overall peformance (playing with forced DX9 is providing fantastic performance though), etc, etc.

Regardless, in a match with a couple of good teams, the action comes fast and it comes furious. Supported by great sound effects and destructibility, it's very intense and alot of fun.

Haven't played on a hardcore server yet, so I'll definitely have to check that out. From an amount of damage perspective only (there are complaints about it taking too many hits to bring a person down) I don't really feel a need to play on hardcore, it seems easy enough to drop headshots in standard play.

How do you force the game to run in DX9 mode?

The game will be released with 16 maps, which is great since I was expecting 10-12 as in BF 2.

Just referring to the settings.ini DX9 change. And actually, I should mention that I made both this change and there was a client update at the same time. It might have been a combination of the two that provided the improvement in performance, however, the improvement was substantial. The beta has been running extremely smooth for me compared to the first time playing.

I loved bf2 but it always felt unorganized to me. bfbc2 seems to lean towards my type of play-style in the bf2 universe. I'm glade there's no prone, excited to be honest no more cowardly camping snipers, or dolphin divers(you SOBs!) now we all gotta stand and fight.. i love it.
