Nomatter who you are, aslong as you enjoy PC games, you should definately try out this game.

There are quite alot of people who arent a fan of the MMO genre, becuase MMO and Mindless Grind coexist. I, and many people who have played the game to a quite high level can tell you that this game has no grind. Seriously, there isnt :o. You guys should definately give this game a try, even if its your first MMO, its newbie friendly and is quite frankly by far the greatest MMO available.

To people turned off the genre because of World Of Warcraft. Asides from the controls, and the MMO Formula, the games are nothing alike.

O yes, and to the people thinking Warhammer Online is a WoW clone, you are SADLY mistaken. The Warhammer fantasy universe is much older then the Warcrafts. This game is unique, and NOT world of warcraft in the slightest.

And lastly, to fellow MMO fans. This game is everything you have loved about MMOs in the past, with everything youv dreamed about, and some more! Trust me guys, you will absolutely LOVE it. The RvR. The unique, detailed, brutal cla$$es. The PQs. The Lairs. The RvR. The Dungeons. The RvR. The Quests. The RvR. The Fantasy Universe. The Monsters. The RvR. The Bosses. And just soooo much more (yes, i know i said RvR 4 times :D). The game is incredibly fun.

Bottom line, nomatter who you are, be it someone who has never played an MMO before, someone who hates the genre or a veteran. Warhammer Online is thee game to play!

O yah, and if ur bored, check out the gamespot discussion / gameplay video , Warhammer CG Trailer , amonst others :)

Hope to see you on the battlefield. WAAARG.

the MMO Formula

Phenom316

Isn't that the thing that turns people off when it comes to MMOs? You can bet that after a decade of MMOs, I'm tired of the same old EverQuest formula.

you only have seventeen GB free hard disk space??

you have to understand that for PC games, the *required free disk space* means the free disk space AFTER you install the game. at any event, 17 gb is too small of hard disk space for modern PC games.

I only agree that it's an mmo an mmo player should play. Especially if you like pvp. The PvE is great but the RvR is where the fun is going to be most of the time. I took part in a couple of keep sieges and it was amazing. I bought a cannon from the quarter master and placed it at the chaos keep and started firing on them. We must have had over 30 people raiding the keep. Defending one is even better. Got some oil to fill the cauldron. Poured it on the enemies at the gates. I have to say it's the best mmo since WoW.

the MMO Formula

RK-Mara

Yah true, i guese some people are tired of the "Kill X Monsters for X Reward". But anyone sick of that formula, would have to be an experianced MMO veteran, cuz if their not, this game is new in every possible way, instead of most the ways. And to an experianced player, they will love WAR. Like before WAR, I was SOOO sick of MMOs, i just finished my Age of Conan marathon a lil WoW, was ready to hang my MMO boots up for a long time, but WAR was just tooo amazing.

But hey, if this game isnt for you, thats cool :P

Just some advice, take a risk with your time and play for a couple hours. Worst come to worst you lose 2 hours play and one night. With the chance to be hooked on an incredible game.

Ahhh so it was.

Good find.

Pretty much its all these extremely unique, amazing classes at war with eachother. Like the Chaos vs Empire. Each class looks phenomenal, and has great features, and their at war 247. War is what this game is focused on, hell its in the freakin' title :P

Seriously. I wish they had a free-trial. I just want to try like 10-15 mins of the game and I'll know right away if I'll like it or not. I'm so close to buying WAR, but being a former MMO veteran, you see, I dont want to be disappointed.

I'd like to add you to my friend's list Phenom, just in case I have any further questions or I do decide to get War. I might want to join up with you in-game.

Dont get me started good sir.

Check out my review if ur bored.

But yes, its a huge world. The community is the greatest iv experianced (par with conan).

So far i havent experianced 1 idiot (A.K.A average WoW player :P). Lol JK. But seriously, the community is fantastic.

There is tons to do, and they all have to do with WAR :D

So the answer to all of those, **** Yes!

I know the gameplay isn't similar to WoW, but I have to admit that after I saw some Youtube videos, they look identical. It's funny, really. Still - I'm going to avoid the game because I have a feeling that in the end it's the same MMO schtick.

At this point in time it looks like I'll be canceling my WoW account for WAR. It's freakin' awesome and I'm only rank 11. I know a lot of people claim that the latest "amazing rpg" (*cough*ageofconan*cough*) doesn't have grind when it blatantly does, but seriously, there is no grind in WAR. The grind that is there is so fun and painless you don't even notice it. You can fill a third of your Influence bar in the time it takes to do a solo Burning Crusade quest in WoW, and unlike the Burning Crusade, the quests are incredibly fun. It reeks of personality as well, something WoW really fails with. I don't know how Blizzard ripped off so many of Warhammer's races and made them so boring, but they did. Greenskins>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>orcs.

Oh, and I got my first taste of RvR last night.

"This game is everything you have loved about MMOs in the past, with everything youv dreamed about, and some more!" so basically this game changes what it does depending on whos playing. For some its a F2P MMO and for others its grind based solo fest. I think you sir do not understand what you are saying. The game IS very much like World of Warcraft. Yes its different but"This game is unique, and NOT world of warcraft in the slightest." is a completely stupid statement. Its very very similar to wow and in terms of graphical direction yes it has a higher polygon count but the Zones are much more stark and bland than WoWs are adn the spell casts arent as extravagent either. But while each does things uniquely they are both similar. I think your having an Orgasm over a game thats been out for 3 days; I seem to recall AoC had the same deal ... we see where it is now.

Um...it's completely different than wow. Thole whole gameplay is based around rvr. It's not a solo grind fest either considering all the public quests and scenarios...

Orgasm over it being out for 3 days? Dont insault me, iv bin playing this game for the last year (CB, OB, Etc). And NO, it is nothing like WoW. I have played 1000's of hours of WoW, and over 300 hours of WAR Beta. I would recognize the similarence. I said beside the controlls AND THE MMO FORMULA. Which is those spellcasts, quest formula, etc.

May i ask you a question sir, have you played WAR? And if so have you played over 3 hours of it. Im sick of people critizing a game without playing it.

I've played in the open beta, and I certainly didn't mind playing through it again when the retail version was released. The graphical direction certainly isn't like WoW from what I've seen, and funnily enough I played the AoC beta for a few hours and got instantly bored of it. I can't honestly see why some people raved about it when it was released and people have certainly almost forgoten about it. Many of the things AoC did wrong aren't present in WAR and the WAR beta was fun right form the start.

Blizzard didn't exactly rip off the races from Warhammer. There are plenty of "Orcs" in fantasty that they could have pulled from. Hell, D&D had orcs (and a monstrous god named "Orcus") long before either. And of course, Tolkien had the Orcs as well, before any of these...

Obviously those races existed long before Warhammer, but they never really had any specific image. In literature it's pretty much up to the reader how everything looks. There just happens to be a startling similarity between Warhammer races and Warcraft races. This was pretty obvious when Warhammer Online was first shown and every Warcraft fanboy thought the designs ripped of Warcraft. When you bring Starcraft into the matter it's pretty obvious Blizzard get a lot of their ideas and designs from Games Workshop, only they suck all of the personality and character out of them in the process.

My 2 cents on WAR

First off, I'm really enjoying the game, but that's speaking as a 10 year MMO vet who enjoy playing MMO's. In my opinion it's not the second coming of MMO's but a fun, fairly easily accessible MMO with a strong emphasis on PvP.

To be clear there's plenty of grind in WAR. There's plenty of XP bars to slowly fill, there's renown and influence bars to fill, quests to run until you get the loot you want and so on. The more positive aspect is that the PvP is very accessible. There's a very strong emphasis on PvP scenarios (what they call battlegrounds in WoW). The game will give a bonus to lower levels in the battleground to ensure they are not completely helpless and overall it's pretty easy to help in, play a round or two. Also unlike WoW and most other MMO's you get quite a bit of XP and Gold from PvP'ing. That does mean that leveling through battleground is not unfeasible, you don't have a feeling that playing the PvP game is 'take away time from your grind'.

Again in my opinion the game DOES look A LOT like WoW. It's not really a big surprise given that both are heavily inspired by the original Warhammer tabletop game. The colors in WAR then to be a bit more muted and the models not quite exaggerated. But in spite of not having played all that much WoW there has been several times where I've seen something in WAR and thoughts: 'Damn that looks like it could have been copy/pasted straight from WoW'.

If I were to sum it up it feels like a game for people who prefer PvP over Raiding.

HOLY KOI CARP, WAS IT GOOD.

MegaPigeon

Whoa I totally disagree, I prefer the WArcraft characters over any Warhammers game's characters by miles.

I'll play it when there's a trail. Until then, I don't plan on wasting $80 to try a game. I am very reluctant to even pay monthly for a game I've already paid for (if it was free to download the game I wouldn't be so picky).

You pay for it because it is online with thousands and thousands and thousands of players on one server, do you really expect it to be free? If it was an offline game, sure. You do realize you play on a server which has to be maintained, right?

I don't play MMOs, but isn't this how many new MMOs start? OMG new MMO, something fresh, different than WoW, 1 month later, nobody renews their subs, people say it sucks and has no end content.

Hey I'm just speculating :P

I can picture WAR's end game being pretty bad.... repeating the same push over and over again the noveltyof ransacking an enemy city will fade quickly.

I don't expect it to be free (I don't think I said that). I said, I wish they would have the game be a free download and then you'd pay a monthly fee after that (I don't think a paper weight should cost $50). I highly doubt it takes $15 a month from "thousands and thousands and thousands of players" to maintain a few servers.

I sure as hell don't want to waste $80 on a game I won't enjoy.

You're not paying for the case. You're paying for the cd key just like any other game. Of course it doesn't take $15 a month, they are a business. That's like saying a bottled water should be free because you can get it from your sink. Servers for your information cost minimum $100,000 per month and good ones will run upwards at $500,000. Times that by 20 or so servers and you do the math.

Yeah, it's a rainy day here...so, I made an impulse purchase. I'll start playing it in a little while and post my first impressions later. :)

I'm still NOT getting this game simply because I have too many other games to play, oh..and I also promised myself I'd never play another MMO RPG..OH!! and because I don't like the warhammer universe..except 40k...40k is cool :)
