[QUOTE="StrawberryHill"][QUOTE="Elann2008"][QUOTE="StrawberryHill"][QUOTE="Elann2008"][QUOTE="StrawberryHill"]I bought this game today and am installing as I type. Looking forward to this. I hope I'm not disappointed.Elann2008
You were just deciding on it a few hours ago, lol. Wow, nice. I hope you like it! Let us know how it goes!
Yeah, it's a rainy day here...so, I made an impulse purchase. I'll start playing it in a little while and post my first impressions later. :)
Rainy day huh? Time to pull out the hot cocoa.
Awesome man. I'll be looking forward to it.
So, I've played to lvl 6 as a high elf archmage. Here are my first impressions:
The artwork in this game is pretty good. It's nice to look at. It ranks among the better MMOs out there...not the best of any pc game...just talking MMOs; as such, it's competitive.
The community is cool, so far, in that there are plenty of friendly groups to join in combat with...without having to join a guild. This helps complete quests fairly easy.
The player versus region, or region versus region war scenarios are fun...typical of capture the flag rallies found in many multiplayer games, these allow you to build reputation/renown points fairly quickly if you're willing to take some risks. As a mage, it's kind of nice to distance yourself and just aim long disance spells at enemies.
One really nice thing about this game is the Tome of Knowledge interface...it consolidates all of your quests and history in one source that is very easy to navigate. Another cool thing about it: there is actually a readable storyline for your character in this game...so, while following your typical "kill this, fetch that" routine found in all MMOs, this game distinguishes itself in that it actually has somewhat of a storyline to follow...there are chapters in this game. Again, this is compared to other MMOs. Don't expect depth anywhere near as thoughtful as Torment or Baldur's Gate.
My one gripe of this game is that the combat is not much fun. It may be the line drawn in the sand for me. Is it worse than other MMOs I've tried? Well, no. It's just more of the same, "click on enemy and negotiate with different attacks using your numerical keys".
This game was an impulse buy for me. It's raining where I live, and I just felt like holing up for a while and playing something new. My advice is that you wait for the price to drop and/or for the distributors to offer a demo or free trial. I'm going to keep playing for a month. I may stick with it, or I may not. Anyway, I'm usually fairly discreet with my game purchases. This is an exception for me. Save your money unless you're are a complete MMO or Warhammer lover...
Thanks for the Warhammer impression man. Just what the doctor ordered. An honest opinion of WAR. I think I'll wait for a trial version. I'm not too excited about putting down $40-50 for something I might not like, when there are tons of games out there that I want to buy right now. Thanks again man.
No problem. Take care, friend.
