I think a lot of PC gamers are expecting too much; they want Dark Souls to come to PC and make use of normal PC traits such as player hosted dedicated servers with custom content. From Software wants you to play the way THEY want you to, if it came to steam it would probably come with some anti-moding restrictions and they would just get angry about that. All this hate for Dark souls with GFWL is stupid. It's not THAT bad. For a userbase that demanded the game come to their system and then to b!tch about it like this is ridiculous. get over it and stop sounding so entitled. They didn't even have to bring it to PC in the first place

I watch TB's videos on occasion. He is a well-known commentator on the PC scene, and while he may sound somewhat patronizing, I doubt that is his intention.
Not a big fan of his videos, but I do watch them whenever I want to learn something that I might want to play.

GFWL does not delete saves only the poor implementation of it that does so. Batman arkham asylum saves were fine, all capcom games worked and saved fine. The ONLY game that kept erasing saves was arkham city. All this hate for Dark souls with GFWL is stupid. It's not THAT bad. summary and thoughts : I intend to buy dark souls, even with gfwl. TB made a good point in that, yes, gfwl sucks, yes it has issues, but he still intends to buy the game because FROM software are doing their best with what they have. Why spend time and money to rewrite netcode when you have a system already in place to make a port easier. If the game does well enough, there is a good chance that their next game will be tailored to easily acceptable pc standards.
edit: Reading some posts, I think a lot of people misunderstood the whole gfwl and steam thing. The game WILL be sold on steam, but it WILL require a gfwl account and stuff.

[QUOTE="-Unreal-"]Really? He deletes videos that he makes that he doesn't feel meets his standards, and he uploads no more than 1 video each day.I'm not watching any of that asshat's videos. Only reason he became popular is because he put out videos in volumes rather than quality.

Pssssssssssssst Ill tell you a secret but dont pass it on ok? UNREAL IS A TROLL, DONT FEED HIM. Remember I said nothing.
Unreal is a huge World of Warcraft fanboy, TB got popular because he got into the Cata closed beta and was one of the few that did videos of it. After cata launched he turned into a hater of WoW and constantly attacked WoW for being casual and what not, which is Unreal's ultimate rage button. "Huge fanboy"? He's probably a bigger fanboy of Blizzard's games than their mothers are. I've no idea how you can kiss so much butt for one company like he does. Pretty much this, actually me and Unreal formed a guild very early in WoW's life called 'Heroes of Azeroth' and is a huge WoW fan. So I really wouldn't listen to what she has to say about TB who is a famous WoW critic. TB has some of the best commentary for today's PC scene than anyone out there and has very high quality videos and he has moral values and won't support a game if he thinks the dev/publisher are ripping of gamers.[QUOTE="Kell_the_Gamer"][QUOTE="Mr_Ditters"]Dude (unreal) what is your issue with him. Never had a problem with GFWL, and most people complaining probably havent either, they are just following other people and finding something to whine about. Thats the worst thing about PC gaming, people cry for nothing...V4LENT1NEYea this is my view of a lot of PC issues (Origin, DMR, GFWL, etc) as well.

His videos are pretty good. I like his mailbox vids.
Thanks for posting, I generally watch the mailbox everday (or everyday he posts). I think TB has some similar views to mine and I'm glad he explained what he believes is the reasoning for this game being on GFWL. I personally don't like using GFWL but haven't had any real issues with it and it own't prevent me from buying a game.
*looks at sig* Not sure if troll Or just stupid His channel is a gaming channel, what the hell do you expect him to cover in 'WTF is'?The only thing he's done that I think is a good idea is his "WTF is..." series. I like the idea, but his execution of it sucks. Instead of doing episodes of it on things people might not know much about, he just does it on games. Example "WTF is Guild Wars 2?" Wow, so creative.
Here's a better example:
"WTF is...Battlefield 3 ? Singleplayer Campaign"
So creative in the use of that title.
He reminds me a bit of a guy called WoWHobbs. People that gain popularity on youtube when their videos are either plain crap or just uncreative.

Real evidence right here. Who could argue facts like these ?
Even worse about PC gaming is people like you accusing people who have actual complaints against GFWL based on absolutely nothing. But because you haven't had any problems you can't relate, well I can. I've had lots of problems, GFWL is a terrible service.
Talk about whining over nothing, you haven't got a clue what you are talking about do you ?
You really think so many would complain if GFWL was actually a decent service ?

I have these problems so everyone else has them too.
We should support Dark Souls even if it uses GFWL. Baby steps here people. Soon they will learn the glorious ways of Steam. nutcrackrSadly i cant support a game on a "maybe" even more so when the game probably wont work for me. What am i going to do with the copy? Just let it sit on the shelf and collect dust =/?
In a way, you duplicated the other thread and hijacked it. You could have just posted this in the original thread about the subject.Mods, may I request a lock on this topic. Can't get a good discussion here, so it might as well be closed. I am not posting in this thread anymore.

Why? Why should people support something they are unhappy about? PC gamers (or any gamer, customer, for that matter) shouldn't have to jump through hoops and accept anything. We are paying our hard earned money for a product and we should get what we want, everything we want. The companies are the ones who should be trying to please us and not the other way around.
Some of you would make terrible consumer advocates.:)
On a separate note: I also wonder how many of you saying, "GFWL is fine," have been indoctrinated by Micro$oft and their DreckBox? And if it's such a wonderful system, why have so many PC developers abandoned it? Obsidian dumped it for New Vegas, Relic dumped it for Warhammer, etc. I've had problems with GFWL and I know I'm not the only one.
Now I understand why Valve is thinking about creating a Steam console, all the f*cking Steam drones out there.SaltyMeatballsThe only reason I got Steam was because I wanted to play Deus Ex: HR. I buy games mostly from other digital vendors.
Everytime I see a thread about GFWL, it's always full of lies and people coming up with obscur issues that everyone is supposed to have had but I've never heard of while playing the game. I think it's just something people like to b!t(h cause they don't like MS, but are forced to play on PC cause no other o/s can play games like it does.masterdratWatch the gosh darn video...

Yeap. I'm buying this game two times on PC. I'm not a fan of Games for Windows LIVE, but Namco is taking a big risk releasing this game on PC.
Show that a market for these games are on PC and hope that their next game is released on PC at the same time as the console versions. And with them having the knowledge that their is indeed a good market over here, we will get a more PC friendly version.
How are they taking a big risk? The way it was explained is that they went the cheapest, quickest route to getting the game to the PC.Yeap. I'm buying this game two times on PC. I'm not a fan of Games for Windows LIVE, but Namco is taking a big risk releasing this game on PC.

IF GFWL makes you that unhappy then by all means, don't buy the game. You're free to think companies whose games you haven't bought owe you and demand perfection just as anyone else, while not in love with GFWL, is free to not let themselves be bothered by it.
You can't demand that people be unhappy with something just as anyone can't demand that you buy something. That's equally terrible 'consumer advocacy'.
Exactly , Now i hate GFWL as well but I won't boycott a great game just because of it , specially not after holding off buying the ps3 version for some time . people need to understand that this is a huge opportunity for the pc , If Dark souls ends up being successful on the pc then I'm sure a lot of other devs will start considering porting their games over to the pc . so i hope people would calm down and remember that we asked for the port in the first place , namco didn't have to port it and now that we get the game we should show appreciation and have to deal with gfwl for the time being and hope their next game uses steam or any other DRM.Yeap. How are they taking a big risk? The way it was explained is that they went the cheapest, quickest route to getting the game to the PC. why risk spending money to rewrite the net code when there's a cheaper and faster way , and specially that this is the first souls game on the pc and is not guaranteed to succeed unlike the console version which has an established fan base , they saw that there's a demand from the pc community so this port is like a test , if it ends up being successful then I'm sure we'll see more of their games on the PC in the future , and they did not exactly go cheap with the port , they're adding a lot of content for the pc version .[QUOTE="ShadowDeathX"]

Thank you! pretty much summed up the reason I posted the link. Day 1 buy for me as soon as it's available for preorder.
GFWL may be a poor platform, but it seems to be the only way they can port the game to PC in time. It's not like they've been given unlimited man power and resources to re-code and whatever else they must do to be able to stick the game elsewhere than GFWL, it must have been a tough decision to even decide to port the game onto PC.
