i bought a Radeon HD5850 last July 2010. it was the best card for my budget at the time.

I went with the 2GB Palit 560 Ti, since I plan to go SLI, quad, and get 3 monitors at Christmas. 2x 560 Ti's with 2GB of VRAM a piece should keep this PC gaming at max for sometime, even using 3 displays for Skyrim and Battlefield 3...-GeordiLaForge-
Sounds like an incredible upgrade, I wish I had that :P 3 monitors for BF3 will be insane
MSI N560GTX-Ti with Twin Frozr II (Graphics)
Asus 9600GSO (96 SP w/ 512 Mb and 128-bit) (Physx)
i chose them because i originally had the 9600GSO and upgraded to the 560GTX Ti. i chose the MSI model due to the TWIN FROZER II cooling fans. that and it goes great with my MSI 870-G45 motherboard. :D
GTX 460 768mb... Why? Best sub 150 dollar back in october of last year and the newegg 15% off coupon code on video cards was perfect timing.. Best 130 dollar card (before MIR... 110 after), i've ever bought to this day. OC's to redicoulous speeds and price to performance at my price range is amazing.
I got the 6950 2GB reference because it was a great price ($280) and I unlocked it to a 6970.
EDIT: Oh and it's sapphire because when I buy an AMD card I always get sapphire.
When I got nvidia in the past I always got evga.
I got my GTS 250 1GB a year ago because my out of warranty 8800GTS 640MB died.
Not only was my budget very limited but the GTS 250 was the best card my PSU could handle. If I had a better PSU at that time I would have gone for 4870 as that was the best card I could afford. The GTX 460 didnt exist and all the other DX11 cards were simply not in my budget. And I was also fairly happy with my 8800GTS so I would have been happy with a 9800GT as well but I am glad I went for a little bit of an upgrade as I later went on to upgrade my monitor and the 9800 GT 512MB would have surely been giving much more trouble at my native resolution.
Well, you still have time.D= Defintely when moments like this happens.[QUOTE="mitu123"]

I made the mistake of getting an ASUS M4A87TD EVO mobo and its not SLI ready. It has one PCI 16x and 1 PCI 4x which I only realised when I got it (Not very smart) so I also need an SLI mobo if I want to get 2 GPU's. Which I will probably have to do for BF3

WHERE DID YOU GET THAT CLIP???? :O
Edit : Nevermind just found it and WOW !!! thats insane
My body is ready.Asus 5870 because it was top of the line when I got it and I decided I was gonna build my PC with a high end not a mid end card.

I have a bad feeling about core 2 quad and phenom II performance in BF3. :(

@mitu123 I actually meant to ask before, what exactly will be in your new rig??

Honestly, I'm not worried. I think it will fair well in BF3. I'd like to think I'm in the minority of gamers who doesn't think too highly of game requirements and recommendation. But I welcome BF3 challenging rigs and pushing us to upgrade. If not, I only have the more reason to upgrade my CPU/Mobo, which I have been wanting to do anyways. :P:D I think I don't have anything to worry about. But I really wont have the money to upgrade my CPU and mobo so that's why I am worried, I will buy a new GPU but not anything more.Honestly, I'm not worried. And my board doesnt letme overclock past 3Ghz which is a bit sad but I hope it would still be sufficient enough for the upcoming games.

Ahh I see. I'd like to think you'll be okay with your Q8400. Upgrading your GPU will certainly help some, that's for sure. I remain hopeful my friend! But I really don't want to upgrade unless I "need" to. :D
When are you looking to upgrade your CPU/Mobo though? Just curious.
I dont really have it in my plans yet, I'll keep lugging on it while it lasts. Ideally I'll upgrade when the next gen of consoles have come, if we have learned something from this gen it is that spending anything major on the performance components right before the consoles come turned out to be a not so good decision. When are you looking to upgrade your CPU/Mobo though? And next time I am definitely getting a premium motherboard so will need to save more for that.

You could always invest in better cooling and overclock. No game maxes out my e8400 at 4.5GHz, so I'm just going to upgrade to a Q9550 when BF3 comes out and overclock it to 4GHz or so.. And it looks like BF3 will need a beefy videocard too, probably two of them... I can't wait :)got the 4770 in my primary and a geforce 240 gt in my secondary rig. I want to get a 6950 but will probably keep my 4770 till DX 11 really becomes mainstream later this year when ivy bridge releases.

MSI GTX 560 Ti twin frozer, reason i got it is because it has one of the best coolers ever to hit the market and overclocks like a best which i couldn't pass up for $230(can hit over 1GHZ which rivals $300+ stock cards)
I got a GTX 580 since I heard it could max out 99% of the games out there. It was a bit steep in price for what I originally wanted to get a card for ($500), but hopefully it will keep me maxed for the near future.

Yeah, atleast wait for Ivy Bridge to upgrade. I figure that an overclocked C2Q could max games for a couple of years if you invest in the cooling system though. Something to ponder over...Would I need to OC my Athlon II X4 645 for BF3?
Sorry that I'm going off topic, but er, I'm happy with my purchase.

I'd say you will do fine with it, but maybe a slight OC will help. Im hoping my Phenom II x4 955 BE will be good enough. I can't OC on stock cooling
Probably, i have my 640 OC'd to 3.4ghz and BC2 uses 80-90% of the processor.Would I need to OC my Athlon II X4 645 for BF3?
