What is the best PC game EVER MADE??

Dune 1 easily...Still play it today and the game came out ages ago...To think that so much beauty could fit in a floppy disk...ahhhh...Those were the days...Far better than Dune 2 imho.eldandil

Good to see someone else has fond memories of that classic.

The game that made me ditch my Amiga 500 and buy a 386 SX PC ( that was a DOS computer kiddies) was Ultima Underworld. One of the first real free movement 3D games. Incredibly immersive then, looks like crap today.

And also the first realistic predicition on future warfare!! Why the heck should anybody WALK around on the battle field when there is photon fire -.- 

For me it X-Com - UFO Defense. One of the few games I can still play today it is still awsome plus it really hasn't been surpassed by a newer game unlike some of the other answers given.

But really its hard to pick just one because there have been so many great games.

X-Com: UFO Defense. Fallout 2 coming right behind it.

 Man i'd like to see X-com style gameplay with realtime FPS perspective in the missions. that would be the coolest game i can imagine.

HASBRO Interactives MY LITTLE PONY CD-ROM, got it right in front of me, best game ever!  Not really..... 

Based purely on popularity it'd be a toss-up between:

• Starcraft
• WoW

Pac-Man, Tetris, and Solitaire are excluded because they were games before the PC (Pac-Man was a standup arcade first before it came to personal computers). Personally I'd vote for Freespace 2.

It may look like an odd choice to many PC gamers but:

Freespace 2.  I wasn't a fan of space shooters before that, but I still bust out those 8 year old cd's and play through the game once or twice a year.  Such an amazing game and so sad they never released the expansion pack.

Also, Hellgate: London looks to be a fun one, but of course to bestow that kind of status on it yet is a bit premature.

Has anyone tried downloading a game off of www.Games2Drive.com?  It's definitely the cheapest - 10% off, but just wondering if it's slow, works, etc...They're new so...

Same here. Its what got me into PC gaming. My friend bought it and it wouldn't work on his PC so we tried it on mine and I never left the PC for about a week.

I have to add another vote to X-Com UFO Defense. No other game has matched its execution of several game types wrapped together. The game constantly forces you to adapt to new conditions and make careful choices. Somehow it keeps the gameplay balanced and still makes you feel as if you are defending the planet.
