Witcher 2 Performance

Im just wondering what kind of performance people are getting. At the moment I cant play the game on high getting around 20-25fps in big fights. I have disabled one of the my cards due to the problem with crossfire.Shame because the game is brilliant from what I have played. Anyone else having any issues or is it just me?

5-20 fps both on low and high settings.

480 GTX, C2Q 9650@ 3Ghz, 4 GB Ram. Clearly above the recommended settings.

Performance isn't bad on my 5850 1GB. I get a noticable (but not massive) framerate drop when things start getting really hairy, but nothing that ruins the gameplay. Other than that... silky smooth. High settings throughout, if I recall.

For those that can't play it yet: You're in for a treat, I can assure you. Looks, plays, and feels superb.

(I'm in the UK, for those wondering how I'm playing already. My copy arrived a day early and it was sitting there all damn day... taunting me.)

Apparently the people who bought the Polish special edition get the game a day early.

First patch released and it fixes some issues . BTW how can you people play it ? i pre-ordered from GOG and still can't play it .

Whats weird is neither my GPU nor my CPU nor my Ram gets utilized properly when playing the game. The game is indeed optimized poorly. Such a shame, i've been looking forward to this one for a long time and can't even fully enjoy it at the moment.

I hope this gets fixed asap.

Yeah, those numbers are on the highest possible settings though. Hopefully, its far better on high/medium in terms of FPS.

I figured you were just monkey-ing around. You're one of the more sensible members on here. ;) I thought it was funny. At least the emoticon made me chuckle. :P

Considering that benchmark used pretty much the same specs as I do, minus the superior i7 to my AMD 965, and I'm playing at 1200 compared to the benchmark's 1080p. I should expect about the same frame rate. I might have to overclock my GTX 580 which I don't feel like doing because of higher temps compared to reference clock. We'll see how it goes.

Maybe CDProjekt did this on purpose for people who try to activate the game earlier than the official release date :P

Yes it does look incredible and i hope they release a driver update or perfomance fix soon so i can enjoy the game.

i have 2 6950's and plan to play on ultra at 1920x1200... im prepared to flash the bios to 6970 settings if needed :PBangerman15

Update: Okay looks like Nvidia 3D vision of the 270.61 drivers seem to cause the bad performance i'm getting, even when 3D is turned off. I suggest everyone that has those drivers and performance issues to remove the 3D vision drivers.

Tested and working.

Remove the 3d vision driver. Didnt matter if game was in 3d or not, same performance as well.

With it installed CPU utilization was very poor, now its about 80% (from 30%).

As for early use: Its the 17th in most places before it is in the US. I've had the game for about 10 hours, since 9:30pm on the 17th.

As many of you know the Witcher 2 is launching next week and its going to be an amazing game. We have been working with the game developer to ensure the game looks great in 3D.

Please note we wil be releasing a new driver soon which contains the fixes for Witcher 2. Please do not use 270.61 with this game as it has problems that we know about.

I'll post again when the driver is available.

Seems those 270.61 not working well, I would recocmend going to some previous versions (I did this with Brink and the older ones ran the game better).

Just a heads up for those with the newest driver.

I fired up the game and everything maxed on my 6970@950Mhz is 20-23FPS, now the major thing that causes this is UBER SAMPLING, turn that of and bam 50-60 FPS(I also dont like motion blur so I turn it off), game is great I started on hard difficuty but could not get past the dragon so I have to lower the difficulty. No more spoilers sorry.

Installing now - the game was preordered from GOG and 98% DL'ed till the 17th when the exe was available to install.

unbelievable , i have a gtx 580 OC and a 2600k @ 4.4ghz and on ultra (with uber sampling) i get 17-30 fps tops ... this has to be a drivers issue . even with uber sampling off fps range 40-70 on ultra .

With this, am I supposed to get like 30-39 fps in the first camp, on the the almost lowest settings?

OK I played the first couple and had no issues using Nvidia 261.14 cause thats what Asus lappy's have for drivers - it is a 3d driver and it is installed.

It's a Asus G72SW-A1 i7-2630QM 8g Win 7 64bit nvidia 460m 1.5g

I've used 266.58 and 270.61 and both suffer from poor performance. I'm not liking the video setting options. You can't select how much anti-aliasing you want to use. It's either enable or disable. There's input lag when you navigate the menus. The low frame rate makes combat headache-inducing. The combat this time actually takes some skill, maneuvering, parrying, and timing. Kinda hard to do that when the game is all choppy.

Any advice on which driver I need to use? And what is with the 3D driver? Do I need to turn that off or delete it? I don't use 3D btw.

IDK if it's a drivers issue or not but at times the game will jump to 80fps and suddenly dip to 40s and it's annoying really . and turning off Uber sampling really increases performance and i didn't notice a difference anyways . running the game on ultra @1080p . hope this gets fixed soon .

The first Witcher was a buggy mess when it first came out. I guess this is no different. Took them months to work out the major problems.
