Wow Cataclysm thoughts....

While some things don't make sense one have to remember that it is what? 10 years? Since Warcraft 3. After races joining together one could understand why some class combination could be possible. I mean even if gnomes (for example) are 99% of the time complete tech freaks they are still walking around with priests so i guess they could learn if they so wish.

I disagree with zomglolcat's view on the story. I'm not sure how you play WoW because I know people play differently from others, but its a game with a lot of story done through a hell of a lot of reading. There's a substantial amount of reading in the game through quests and originally through dialogue without sound. Now though there's a lot of actual voice acting in the game. I think people are eager to just do the quest and reap the rewards rather than reading anything.

Also there's no point commenting on Cataclysm's race-to-class combinations and how they fit with the lore since nobody has played much of the expansion yet to see what happens. It's amusing to see how nobody commented on Warcraft 3 destroying what lore Warcraft 2 had, but they're quick to jump on what WoW destroys of the lore all the previous games had. WoW is a Warcraft game and it's the later part in a series. It's going to advance the story and make new lore whether its how you want it to go or not.

You have to think of the scale of the game and designing it from a developer's point of view. Think of the amount of work that would have to be done to do most quests or even the main storyline quests in more cinematic detail with acting and cutscenes. Think about how long it took just to get the game out at the beginning and they never even really had any cutscenes or acting in their quests.

Exactly, I have resisted to èòay it for 10 minutes, €10 pre-order wasted.

On the outside it looks really cool and really nice. For anyone who can look deeper or anyone who is currently playing it isnt so appealing.

It is just another step in the effort to shoehorn the game into being an overlapping mess. More things are homogenized. It gives me the impression that they are streamlining development as more and more people head off to other projects.

They already have the user base to support the game, they dont really have any incentive to do more than the bare minimum effort. The easier it is to develop for the better. And people will keep paying regardless.

And in the end its just more of the same. Its just painted differently.

The night elves talked to the humans in Northrand and the Kirin'tor about the Arcane and started to think ways of killing the Scourge and making the word tree more powerful using the ways wizoclone

Idk about that because isn't arcanic magic what Nelfs were using and it caused the tree's ending and the high elves to leave kalimador.

Im not positive about lore but I believe thats why they are druids and don't use magic.

clearly shows your ignorance of the game. it is not a wow clone... far from it. the only thing they have in common is the fact that they both have quests.... if you do the quests, there is no grind. there are no talent specs like in wow, your character is customized through stigmas, items that give you special skills, and manastones, which give you boosts to certain aspects of your character.. there are only 2 races, instead of the pointless bazillion races WOW has... the cla.sses are very different from WOW, with the only pet cla.ss actually being a MAGE type cla.ss, tanks that can actually do well in PVP, and healers that dont need dual spec in order to do damage. The combat system revolves around combos rather than doing one skill at a time, allowing for more dynamic combat as well. so please explain how all of that equals a WOW clone?

again, how ignorant of you to assume that just because it is a korean game, that there is a grind. not only that, but aion's PVP trounces all over WOW. If anything, Aion is what WOW should have been.... not the other way around.

PS. WHAT THE HELL IS WITH GAMESPOT CENSORING THE WORD CLA.SS..... SERIOUSLY COME ON!

Okay, here's the short version of why I'm irked about Night Elves getting to be mages ('short' in the sense that this will be a quick run-down of the lore of the Night Elf race):

• Arcane magic was picked up by the Night Elves who stumbled onto the shores of the Well of Eternity (big lake sitting in the middle of the land)
• There was a division in the Night Elf society (those who practice magic, and those who did not)
• It was discovered that arcane magic had addictive qualities
• It was soon discovered that the demons from the Twisting Nether were communicating with the magic-using Night Elves in order to use the Well of Eternity as a gateway for the demons to invade Kalimdor
• The non-magic using faction decided that this was a bad thing, and took action to stop the magic-users from opening the Well of Eternity
• Malfurion was able to close the opening portal by 'destroying' the Well of Eternity
• Destruction of the Well of Eternity caused a big boom. The Maelstrom was formed (big swirly thing on the map between Kalimdor and Azeroth)
• Illidan (who knew of his brother's [Malfurion] plot) stole some of the water from the Well of Eternity before it went kaplooie
• Yes, Illidan was one of the magic-using Night Elves who had gotten addicted to arcane magic
• When the Night Elves got to their new 'home' lands, they discovered that magic had gotten into a (relatively) small lake
• Illidan had poured some of the arcane infused water from the Well into this new lake in order to protect his source for a fix
• Magic was proclaimed a forbidden art due to the inherently addictive and demonic influence the arcane possesses
• The magic-using Night Elves were banished from the lands for being hopelessly addicted to arcane magic and became the High Elves of Quel'Thalas
• Illidan had given the High Elves some of the stolen water from the Well of Eternity, and the High Elves used the water to make the Sunwell (and we all know how warm and fuzzy the High Elves are with their continued use of arcane magics)

That's the spoiler-free portion of the lore. Going any further would give away parts of the gameplay of The Frozen Throne...and I don't know who all has played through that one. So basically, it comes down to this: if the Night Elves had banished a massive chunk of their population based solely on their use of arcane magic, I doubt that their attitudes regarding arcane has changed much over the past 7,300 or so years. There's another good reason why the Night Elves most likely won't use magic (in the form of evidence of what happens to those who become corrupted by the arcane magics), but, again, that's TFT territory.

Of course, in my eye, they've already jumped the shark in The Burning Crusade with the Draenei...so, meh...whatever. But this will probably be what signals my departure from WoW (and I've been playing since the open beta). To me, it's just getting too ridiculous.

I logged in last night for the first time in 3 weeks. Guild was doing Yogg+0, wiped for an hour, got the kill, had no fun, gquit. Account ran out 4 hours later. Safely say that im done at this point.

Although i'll admit there is always the chance i might play again when CAT hits....it will really depend on how bored i am when it releases. If i have other stuff to do i could easily just not get it.

Even if i did i couldnt see me doing much more than PL'ing my main to 85 and maybe doing the starter zones for the new races. With how the game is now i cant really see that taking me more than a month or two at the most before i was bored of it. At that rate why even bother.

I have been thinking over the changes after I first proclaimed to not like them, and my mind has changed. I was looking at it from my perspective (no longer playing WoW and wanting to return) and how I would not have long to enjoy the scenery until it changed. But in a more experienced seasoned player I can see it as a refreshing change etc.

This expack they are taking away spellpower and mp5 spellpower was a huge factor in theroycrafting and made it so people needed to have a understanding of that to do max dps now it's just going to be press buttons to win.

I hate how everyone thinks WoW is completely casualized. Casuals can get purples too, but the hard mode YS fight is freakin insain not to mention any attempt at Algalon.
