I am very concerned with graphics when it comes to sport games.  I want to see players and their surroundings be as like like as possible.  I don't need great graphics to enjoy well made games though, except for sport games. Lostboy1224

I feel you brother, but it sucks that Madden 07 for Ps3 and Xbox360 have the greatest graphics for any sports title so far, but it has the worst gameplay, it does'nt even come close to the xbox or ps2 gameplay, cant do anything like defensive controls except for like audibles and stuff. I hope that they make it as good and better and include the same and even new controls in 08 version.

If you are into soccer play winning eleven...the best simulator and graphics game on the sports genre.  Not even Madden can come as close to what Konami is doing on the WE series.

as a matter of fact Winning Eleven is the best example of a very good Gameplay engine and very good solid Graphics. Konami on this game got the whole package all together.

In a way I dont mind the graphics, but sometimes I am picky and like the graphics and swear and kick my PS2 because the game sucked.

For me it Story/Music, Gameplay, Graphics. I rather be reeled into a game with an awesome story and environment then be dazzled by graphics but the disappointed by lack of story.quack_er

A terrible looking game that plays well can be fun.

A terrible playing game that looks good isnt fun regardless of how you look at it.

The storyline in video games is usually horrible (save for the good PC rpgs like Planescape Torment) especially in "graphical" games like Final Fantasy. So I play for the experience, good gameplay, and immersiveness.

I'd say all parts of a game are fairly important. THere no need to pretend graphics don't matter just because you don't have a next gen system... or because you have a Wii. But to be fair, the Wii and the PS2/X-box/GCN all are capable of decent graphics. Okami, RE4, MGS3 and Shadow of the Colossus are all proof the PS2 is capable of quite a bit.

Graphics are important, but for the most part I can overlook a game having poor graphics if the game itself is still fun to play.

It's not that I can't afford/have a 'next-gen' system, I just want games that I think will be fun. I plan on getting a DS, PSP and then a Wii -- in that order. I really (based off the current library/price) don't have much desire for a Xbox 360 or a PS3.

I think that most people will go for a solid game with great gameplay and other attributes, as long as they have decent graphics, I myself are guilty as well, it just bums me out when a great games has major graphic problems. That why I'm kinda waiting for some of the bigger name titles to be more develped for Xbox360 and ps3 to come out, they always get better on both sides of the fence in about a year to 2. Although Dead Rising is an exception.

You know I hate to admit it too, but the character in FFXII are kinda blandly writen and composed in the storyline aspect, they were'nt as develpoed as most characters in other FF's, but you've gotta admit the gameplay is pretty awesome seeing that they made a somewhat large change from the traditional gameplay.

[QUOTE="joslop500"]graphics are a big factor for me, after playing so many HD games playing a SD game just seems dull, once you go hd you cant go backhypnotoad8128
You obviously never experienced the brilliant games of the late 80's early 90's. That's when games were games. Not graphics demo's covered up as games.

thats very true

I personly dont belive Graphics have anything to do with the quality of the game... like sure there is games that the graphics are bad enough that you dont want to play the game because there is alot of technical issues... but hell I still play Chrono Trigger and the old Final Fantasy games....

Exactly, they had made some very awesome games for the old platforms, especially FFVIII, it was a very well developed game in reagards gameplay, and many others. You can't say that there are'nt some games that you always loved back in the day that you would'nt stop playing forever, its just that everyone gets so ingulfed into the New Gen systems and how great and "LifeLike" the grapics they can produce, that we forget what reallly makes a great game, that makes you come back for more and more.

To me, graphics definitely come last when looking at a game.. so many other things are more important.

I mean, if they came out with the most amazing looking game with crappy gameplay, then another game with the worst graphics, but amazing gameplay.. which are you going to have more fun with?

Anyway, to me.. graphics definitely come last. Case in point: FFVI > FFVII, but that's just me.

Graphics is not a big factor for me. What is important is the gameplay. Just look at GTA, Bully, and SotC, graphics are not that awesome but very great game. I don't like very fine graphics like Onimusha and God of War but the good thing is the graphics suits the those game. Best graphics for PS2 for me is RE4.

I believe that graphics are important in games, but certainly arn't the most important factor. Gameplay is probubly the most important factor, with graphics, sound ect all contributing to the game, but never making the game.

Graphics I don't mind too much about, long as it's up to standard or par I'm fine with it. Storyline's in a game are what interest me the most about it, if else the gameplay or fun factor depending on the type of game like a beat'em up for example. Depending on the music and sound department, the better they are in quality the better of game you'll enjoy, only few games I've really got annoyed by the music. So #1 Story/Gameplay.

Thats right, gameplay is always  #1, then sound (thats one of the things, many people dont think of sound as a major a factor, but it is, I dont want no crappy computer generated sound, when I can have a sound of aactual bullets hitting a buliding and hear the concrete break off and hit the ground), then of course graphics, although this is less eventually I think that almost everyone will be satisfied with them in the next couple of years, at least for the console life.

Chrono Trigger is one of the best looking SNES games out there. It was certainly a gorgeous looking game. To all those people clamoring on to the 80s and 90s, those games where once considered high tech you know.

I'm in the middle. If a game plays really great and it's fun but it looks like it crap then I'm probably less likely to play it. Unless it's like an old school game where you should not expect great graphics.

It really depends on the gameplay, but for me I really care about a game's art style. Shadow Of The Colossus would be nothing if it had the style of Kingdom Hearts.

I dont know, I still say gameplay is at the top, come on GTA has always had below avg/ at avg graphics and it has been the most selling game in the category, i dont see people going round saying that the game sucks cuz of graphics, Its good to have a game with great graphics and gameplay like Gears of War or others, but if you go back in the day, graphics were low grade, and yet many still sold not entirely based on graphical appearance, but through very appealing and inovative gameplay, many old school gamers will agree with this.

I think that they are important to a certain extent. If a game is only based off of graphics, and no gameplay to back it up, it is going to be bad. It is sad that in this day and age, uneducated gamers go out to stores and only pick up games that LOOK good, and to a more specific extent, games that have violence and blood. Sure, those games need the good visuals to satisfy the gaming experience, but in the end, if the controls and gameplay isn't as brilliant as the technology that fuels them, then those are bad games IMO. The graphics enhance a game, but certainly don't define it. I just wish more people would understand that.

Yo, thats the point I've been trying to get across. People now (especially that current-gen ie ps3 and xbox360) only buy games that have "Oh my god, like-life" graphics and is just "pull out a gat, and pop a fool", I play these types of games often, but I also want a game that satifies other aspects, and thats where games these days come short, but there are of course many games still being made that live up to these expectations but many come short, cuz thats what sell these days. You've gotta have to depth in games, thats all I'm tryin to say.

Well I have my stupid math:

Bad Graphics+Bad Gameplay=Bad

Bad Graphics+Medium Gameplay=Almost Worth Trying

Medium Graphics+bad Gameplay=Worth Trying

Medium Graphics+Medium Graphics=Good

Great Graphics+Medium Gameplay=Great

Medium Graphics+Great Gameplay=Great

Great Graphics+Great Gameplay=Awesome

Also Sometimes story makes you get into the game and you forget of how bad the game is...

But The again People think different and what I like may be what the other person Hates.

I don't think graphics are very important at all. If the game has a nice style then that can entirely make up for lack of polygons in my eyes. Music and story are also big things for me.

And of course, Gameplay > Graphics.

I just wish developers didn't feel compelled to make every game to be released on a console 3-D. I really miss those 2-D games that used to be so much fun. I hope that one day people will stop obsessing about photorealism so much, and just worry about making the darn game fun to play.

I prefer to have a game that has good graphics but I am more bothered about gameplay. Hey, my fav. game is Dungeon Keeper 2 so Iam notthat bothered by it.
