As a general rule I only buy bargain blu-ray's between 10 and 15$.
A few exceptions were Samurai Champloo (Which ironically looks better on DVD) and Sherlock Holmes.
Blu-Ray/DVD combo packs are what entice me into purchasing new movies.
The Haunting in Connecticut, the shining, friday the 13th, knowing, FF VII advent children, jennifers body, bloody valentine, day the earth stood still, the descent, pinapple express, dark knight, the happening, the eye, hellboy 2, kung fu panda, the strangers, pans labirynth, dead space, tropic thunder, cloverfield, DBZ broly , twighlight 1 & 2, avatar, resident evil 3D, the last airbender, paranormal activity 1 & 2, district 9, the crazies, skyline, final fantasy spirits within, terminator salvation, funny people, transformers 2, book of eLI , inception, the devil, monsters vs aliens 3D, christmas charol 3D, rambo collection, shutter island, zombieland, wolverine: origins, ironman 2, halloween, trick or treat, kick-ass, splice, planet earth
EDITED to add planet earth...
danm that sucked typing
This is why I just stream em, or rent em through netflix now. I still have a ton of VHS (with no player), tons of Laserdiscs (with no player), and tons of DVD's (that I can actually play, but for how long). It's huge clutter to me that I just don't use, so I have stopped collecting. I love the way blu ray's look, and think it is a great format. I just hardly ever want to watch a movie more than once anymore.Never have, never will. I've built a 400 DVD empire, i'm not starting again.

Well, I just started to buy Blu-rays rather than DVDs at the end of last year..so my collection is:
Child's Play
Office Space
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The world
The Terminator
Terminator 2 Judgment Day+Total Recall (Double Pack)
Terminator 3
Wayne's World
Wayne's World 2
I don't own a single BD. Just get them through Netflix 2 at a time. I will be getting the LotR trilogy in June and the SW saga later this year though. Can't see myself buying anything else though.
I kinda want BR The Final Cut but have not purchased it yet.

BR? Blade Runner, i think. I remember there being a Final Cut released within the last few years.Never have, never will. I've built a 400 DVD empire, i'm not starting again.

But you still buy DVD's?
I definitely stopped buying DVD's. It's almost silly to buy DVD's in 2011 IMO. I would love to dump even more of my DVD collection and upgrade more blu-rays, but unfortunately DVD's are so worthless now it's barely worth the time and effort to bother selling them. So for some movies I will probably never "double dip" with both blu-ray and DVD. For my favorites I've already upgraded. For new purchases I'm all blu-ray.

I'm not gonna bombard y'all w/ what I WANT to get, but let's just say I'm eyeing a few things I might get by Friday. I'm definitely (re)buying The Fast & the Furious (it was actually one of the first dvds I ever bought when I got my first dvd player over 10+ yrs ago), and if the Batman & Batman Returns (the Tim Burton directed ones) blurays are still cheap I'll get them too. Trying to build my anime on blu collection, hence you might have noticed an abundance of that in mine collection, too. You definitely don't wanna see my wishlist for THAT.
I replaced a bunch of my older dvds for blurays and have quite a few:

id guess i have about 25 blurays. when new movies come out i only buy blu ray version but when i buy old movies or classics, i dont care if its dvdgrand17
I usually check a site like this (http://www.blu-ray.com/)to see if it's worth "upgrading" my DVD's to blu-ray. If it's a "bad transfer" I usually won't bother, I'll just keep the DVD. 12 monkeys is one example, easily one of my favorite movies of all time, but the rating for the blu-ray disc is pretty horrible. So I'm just holding out with the DVD hoping they come out with a new transfer for blu-ray.
http://www.blu-ray.com/
This site offers no opinion on the actual movie itself, but actually gives ratings to the quality of the blu-ray disc. They rate the video transfer (how faithful it is to film/theatrical quality), the audio quality (is it uncompressed? 7.1? good dynamic range? fathful as possible to the original source?), they also rate the extra content/special features. Some old movies look flat out amazing on blu-ray, even though they might not have CGI or modern special effects if it's a pristine transfer it makes a huge difference to me. If it's a mediocre transfer or the film looks mediocre to begin with, it makes less of a difference to upgrade. That's where I would just stick with the DVD, but I still won't buy any NEW dvd's.
Consider at WORST the blu-ray would probably be from the last/best DVD transfer, only encoded at 1080P instead of 480P. there's literally no reason to buy a DVD unless it's something not available on Blu-ray. But then many blu-rays actually get FRESH transfers at much higher resolutions, and using the latest technology to make sure they are in pristine condition for making their way onto the new format.
On a related note: I just watched Royal Tenenbaums Criterion Collection (DVD) last night and realized it's not even available on blu-ray. There's not even a hint of an announcement yet, hopefully Criterion eventually does the blu-ray of this one. I know they lost a few movies from their DVD offerings that were released by different studios on blu-ray, and the blu-rays turned out horrible (i.e. Ran blu-ray was released by StudioCanal and is supposed to be pretty crap)).
