I just bought all of my setup a week or so ago. Got it all set up. Gaming in HD is so awesome. I upgraded from a Panasonic 27" CTR 480i.I'm just turned 18 in July and I've been saving for a 2 years for everything, so I'm pretty proud of the setup. Tell me what you all think! :D

My gaming setup: 52 inch Sony Bravia XBR4, 1200w Sony Bravia wireless 5.1 home theatre system, HD PVR, 60GB Launch PS3, Monster HD Power Center 2400, Dell XPS M1330 (2.8ghz, 4GB of RAM, GeForce 8400GS, 320GB HDD), 30 games (26 of which are pictured, 17 Blu-ray movies (13 of which are pictured), PSP, 10 PSP games, 25 UMD movies (not pictured), Linksys WRT54G wireless router, Motorola Modem, Motorola Razr V3, Motorola BT headset, Jabra BT125 headset.

Here are some in-game pics.

Uncharted:

Just thought I'd throw in this one to brag about my Uncharted skills. Haha.

Here are a few from Gran Turismo 5: Prologue:

MGS4:

Here are some picture using the Bravia XBR4 as my computer monitor. Hooked up throuh HDMI to my laptop.

Hooked up to the TV, just changing the display settings. PS3 controller is hooked up to the XPS for old school N64 gaming.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (best game of all time) in full 1080p FTW!!!

I actually made the entertainment center (TV stand) myself because I didnt want to hang it on the wall (too hard to get to the wires and too hard to hide them), and because most of the nice looking stands were ridiculously overpriced. All in all, it took about a week to make, and cost $180. I'd highly recommend building the stand yourself for anyone planing to get a new TV and need a stand to go with it. It's generally cheaper, you can build it to match your decor and you have far less limitations. Here are some pictures I made on Microsoft Paint back in March, they are blueprints for my stand.

Dimensions:

Final Setup (what I pictured it as):

What it turned out to be:

Pretty close if I say so myself. :P

Yeah, when it comes to Sony, you're looking at about that much.

I like the setup. It's my ideal setup. Great job.

I bought the PS3 when it was $750 (launch 60GB). TV is worth $4000, souround sound is worth $1000 Monster Power box is $500 (got them all in a package deal at best buy for $4800, along with 5 $200 Monster Cables), HD PVR is $500, but I'm making monthly payments on it. The laptop was $3000 when I bought it back in November. I have 30 games ($70 ea.) = $2100. I could go on and on. Haha. But I had the games and movies and PSP and laptop long before I got the new TV and sound system deal.

Bad move with monster cables. You realize they're just gimmicks right? A $10 cable produces the same picture quality. It's a fact. Just like I tell my friend, you could be the first guy to own the hottest new toys but you'll always be suckered into buying it. Wait 1-2 months and the price drops 30-50%. It happens all the time. I nearly fell for it. I bought my Samsung (in my sig) on sale. This HDTV debuted at $3200, in less than one week, it dropped down to $2500. One month later, it was $1999. I will never buy new hot gadgets early on, even if you're rich. It makes no sense to throw away money when you can donate it to charity. It doesnt matter how much you make or spend, it's how much you save. Retail prices are all gimmicks. You gotta learn how to work the system instead of flaunting your cash like that. No wonder why the salesman got you in his booby trap. Man, $3000 laptop. You can build a monster PC for a fraction of that price. No offence but I hate seeing people throw their money away. If you're going to spend it on something, get the best deal.

I'm well aware of what I was doing while purchasing everything. Yes, I know the monster cables are overpriced, but I dont believe a $10 cable produces as good a picture. Just my opinion. Besides, the TV is worth $4000 and I talked them down to $2399. I got $7000 worth of equipment for $4800. Not bad if I say so myself. Also, about the laptop, I wasn't crazy about spendin that much on it, but I needed it for school and it's an inch thick and weighs 4lbs. Major selling point for me. Also, my TV was nearly $5000 when it first came out and I waited for it to come down to $4000. Sonys are quite good at holding their value, apparently. xD

My five dollar hdmi cables are gold plated... A digital signal is essentially all-or-nothing. so, if the signal carries through the cable it's going to be as good as it gets with any cable.

Just like comparing a high-end TV to a low-end TV, I think that higher priced cables are made with higher quality parts and therefore will last longer with optimal performance. It's all a matter of opinion really. If someone prefers the cheaper cables thats fine and if someone (like myself) prefers the more expensive ones, that's okay too. It's all a matter of personal preference, not about who is right and who is wrong.

/agreed...as for the responses that contain passages such as " I think expensive cables are better because...they're more expensive", check any electronic review site, ie: Consumer Reports, CNet etc...cost for cables does NOT = quality. As for the rest of the TC's post, it's good you're proud of your set-up but I wonder what the point of flaunting your hardware is. Who cares? You spent all that money on your home theater...here's hopin' you had some money left over for ya know, things like a car and movin' out of your parent's house. :)

I feel that a lot of posts like these should really be titled "See how much money I spent." The people that buy every game or dvd (blu-ray these days), just so they can say they have them. Most, not say OP is this way, go to bestbuy.com and sort by highest price and say "sure." I always research deeply into my purchases. Most people check specs so they can brag about them. I sort by what I need then talk to people who have the product and their honest opinion, not numbers. If I were to make a thread, I wouldn't even include how much I spent.

Right Now my setup is

37inch Sharp Aquos 1080p Vyper Drive Game Mode

60GB PS3 Launch

Apple Macbook Pro(that says enough it beat dell xps in pcworld)

Soon...

An Onkyo 7.1 Surround sound

[QUOTE="Leostatic"][QUOTE="Elann2008"]

[QUOTE="Someguy2055"]I bought the PS3 when it was $750 (launch 60GB). TSuellentrop

I didn't say how much I spent. If you check the first page, you'll see that someone asked me how much everything was. I didnt come out and say it myself. And I did my reasearch. The more money you spend on these deals, the more you get off. If I had bought $5 cables then I wouldn't have saved myself $2200+ on a package deal. I probably would have saved, say $1000. Which means, even I bought the cheaper cables,I would be spending like the exact same amount of money. I'd rather take the expensive cables if I have a choice that isn't going to change the cost in any way. :\

Nope. Not at the moment. Like I said, I had to save alot for my TV. For two years. Plus I had to buy games. And my girlfriend. Haha. I've gotten 5 more since this picture was taken (Batman Begins, I am Legend, Twister, AvP and AvPR). More to come soon hopefully.

All the equipment I just got (3 HDMI cables, 1 coaxial, 1 digital opitical, a monster power surge protector, the 1200w wireless 5.1 sound system, and the TV) would have cost around $7000 all together, but I got it in a package deal at best buy for $4800 (including taxes). I went on Canada Day and the stores make almost no money on that day, since no one is shopping. Best time to get the best deal. The TV itself is worth $4000. Once again, I'm not saying how much I spent to show off, I'm merely answering a question. xD

I just bought a $1500 custom "Monster Edition" PS3 off of Ebay. Gold plated case fans, connections, drive mechanisms and PS3 logo. I'm well aware of what I was doing while purchasing everything. Yes, I know the "Monster Edition" PS3 is overpriced. but I don't believe a $499 PS3 produces as good of a picture.

Someguy2055, don't let anyone on this thread make you feel like an IDIOT for buying a Monster Cable. People like you and me are a rare breed, we recognize "quality" and aren't afraid to pay out the ass for it.

How long did it take you to come up with this one? o.o' I honestly don't get why poeple waste their time typing messages like these to **** and complain about what kind of cables I bought. If you'll read up a few messages, you'll see my reasoning. If you don't get it by now, then you're the idiot.
