With the importance that a lot of people seem to place on trophies, I am curious how many people hereare influenced (at least partially)by a game's trophies when making the decision on which games to play.Would you play a terrible game like "Hannah Montana" in order to earn an easy platinum? Would you avoid games like MGS4 or Oblivion because they do not feature trophy support? It does not have to be as definitive as that, but how many people have ever let a game's trophy list determine any aspect of their gaming. Every day, I see people making posts one way or another, but I wanted to create a poll to set the record straight.

I play a game simply because I want to experience it. If it has trophies great. If not, it doesn't matter. On that note though. If a game that I had already beat had a update and got trophies than that would make me go back and play the game again.

I like it that games have trophies but most of the games I play don't have them. Its not really a big deal to me.

Hell no. If the game sparks my interest I will play it, if not then I will pass on it. I will not be playing games like Hanna Montana or Blitz the league for trophies.

HA exactly, but Blitz the LEague on the PS2 was awesome. I loved that game, steroid use and watching bones shatter really had me going.

I could care less about trophies, so no. My favorite game on the PS3 has no trophy support, so it obviously doesn't matter to me.

I don't go looking for easy games to complete for trophies, some of my games don't even have trophies but it could be a deciding factor for me. I am not going to buy gameswhereeven the easiest trophies are impossible

The number of trophies or type of trophies don't attract me when I buy a game, but I am slightly more likely to buy and play games with trophies in general because it gives me some type of extra incentive to play besides wanting to beat (and sometimes master) a game.

I've never bought a game just for the trophies though.

Definitely No.

I do agree that games with trophies add certain level of challenge or re-playability, however if the game is not enjoyable, fun or to my liking in the first place, trophies won't change that.

Now when I play the game I enjoy very much (LBP for example) I don't mind exploring and otherwise pursuing some trophies as personal rewards as long as they are not taking away the fun part.

To many higher level trophies require ridiculous amount of time consuming or frustration to get - in that case I choose to just ignore them.

I welcome trophies but they are on the bottom of my list when I'm choosing a game to play.

Not to be the different guy, but I'd have to say it has influenced my purchase on the download of worms, as it is a direct port of one of my favorite PSP games. There were a few challenges I wanted to take on, like beating a ranked online match in under 2 min. There are othr games, like Little Big Planet, which give the game more replay value with the Trophy List, yet I would have purchased it with or without them. Other than that, my answer is NO, but I do believe they give gamers more value, especially when you can make it your goal to get the impossible trophies, that may take all summer to get.

When I first got my ps3 6 months ago I thought Sony had the same setup like the 360 with the achievements, and the games I got did have trophies so I said OK just like the achievements no big deal. To come find out not all ps3 games even have trophies, what's up with that.

Well back to your original question, to me it's nice to get trophies, it lets everyone know what and how far you got in a game but if the game is really good and fun to play and has great reviews just because the trophies suck or the game doesn't offer any that won't keep me from getting it.:)

Its kind of stupid if you do You'll miss out on a lot of good games if you do that (MGS4, Heavenly sword, Orange box, DMC4, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Oblivion etc. )..trophies are a good addition to a good game...but it really shouldn't, under any circumstace, dictate what it is that you should and shouldn't buy.

I only have 5 games with Trophies. GTA4, Fallout 3, COD W@W, Killzone 2 and Prince of Persia. I wouldnt mind getting 100% Trophies for each game, but sometimes i just like to play for fun. I do play games like Oblivion GOTYE, MGS4 and all. To be honest im not that fussed

Well, in a very small aspect yes. It's a good aditional thing and on Games like dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 it increases my fun collectiong everything a little bit. They are also good for a first impression on what the Game has to offer. If I check the trophies from the newcomming Terminator Game, I can say that there most likely isn't much optional / post game stuff. But I would never buy a game due to the trophies they offer of do not buy a game because it has none

Nah, its dumb playing games JUST for trophies or choosing to get a game over another because on one game the trophies are easier. Besides, I don't look at how many trophies a person has I look at the specific trophies they have to see how good a person is, hahah.

No, I play whats fun. SR2 and VC don't have trophies but I really want to play them and can't wait to get my hands on them despite no trophies. My GOTG MGS4 doesn't have trophies but I enjoyed going back every now and then and giving it a playthrough.

If you play games just for trophies, you're not playing for the right reasons.

L33T_TI200P3I2

I would have to disagree. I think that it does stil matter because there are some people that will play games like "Hannah Montana" or "Alone in the Dark" because they are widely regarded as being some of the easiest games to earn platinum trophies in. At the same time, some will avoid those games where the trophies are difficult or time consuming like "Wipeout HD" or "Warhawk."

When buying a game no, I buy a game to play it and enjoy it and get the trophies as an added something to do. But when Im renting then yes, I only have it for a week or two so I want to get the most out of it and try and get all the trophies.

Completely agree with this guy. Trophies are just a nice bonus for me, I won't spend money on a game I wouldn't normally buy just to get some trophies, though I wouldn't mind replaying the game if it gets an update.

Sorry the games that are in my trophies list are the games i enjoy playing, I'm not going to rent or buy a game just because of an "easy" platnium. I think people are taking this trophies collection a little too seriously. Its not like its going to look good on your resume or anything.

I'll look at the list for sure, I'll admit that, but I never will buy a game just for trophies. It can make some games more purchasable to me though. If a game is short, trophies could give me replayability, like Prince of Persia, which I would have rented if it didn't have trophies. Another example is Battlefield Bad Company. I always wanted to play it but the trophies have me a bit more inclined to play it. I probably won't get to it for a while, but I want to. A game like Mirror's Edge is perfect for trophies because the time trial mood of the game makes a trophy a good reward for beating times, which is great.

I do to an extent. I'm not going to play a game that I would absolutely hate, just to get easy trophies. However, I would try a game that I would probably enjoy if it has a nice trophy list. I recently tried WWE Legends of Wrestlemania. It had a good list, and it turns out I did like the game.

So far two of my favorite PS3 games have yet to recieve trophy support, Metal Gear 4 and Valkyria Chronicles, and ive played through both multiple times. I still find myself going back and redoing lvels and such but i wish i actually had something to aim for after the fact yknow? Ive got a couple of games with trophies too and so far ive only gotten 3 platinums, Dead Space Fallout 3 and Alone In the Dark, all of which have relativley easy(but fun!) trophies to aim for.

Nope if there were no trophies, i would still play the same games and i would still do everything in the game..

Now i know there are people out there who just get games for trophies but really who cares, it doesn't make you more of a gamer then them.. As for a previous comment about a guy who had games like hannah montana, some gamers have children.. i know one of my buddies has an 8yr. old daughter who wanted the game and by sheer playing it she got the platinum.. (just to mess with me i bet you he will get me the platinum since i was making fun of him)

I only bring that up because people tend to think that only 17yr. (average) olds play games, come on people, use some reasoning.. Not too mention, tastes! Not every single person loved mgs4 and hated games that have easy trophies like genesis collection.. i personally enjoy lower titles then the so called blockbusters.. but i play them all..

No, trophies are a complete waste of time...they should focus on fixing bugs in games rather than adding a completely pointless feature that adds nothing to enjoyment.

I choose games because I want to play them, trophies don't come into it and I find the obsession with them odd to say the least.....I mean you don't actually get anything from it.

This. Let's say there are two games I really want. One has trophies and the other doesn't. I would probably buy the one with trophies first and wait with the other.
