Ever bought a game because it got high player review scores then regretted it?

Yes. I honestly regret buying Shadow of the Colossus. It was a boring game. Only things I like in SotC is the sceneries/landscape and graphics. For me it's more fun just walking around than fighting colossi. SotC's graphics is one of the best IMO. :)

I also kinda regret buying God of War. For me it's like a Onimusha clone. Kill enemies then absorb souls to upgrade weapons and refill health. Gameplay is way too linear. Only thing I like in God of War is the story.

I didn't like Oblivion. I didn't even like Morrowind but I convinced myself to get Oblivion. Luckily the first one was a rental and the second I got my money back.

If we're talking this gen, then COD4 and GTAIV. Talk about mediocre letdowns...

It's odd, before this gen I never really let review scores sway me either way and ended up with a lot of games that I enjoyed (only gifts and impulse buys had me end up with bad games), but this gen I actually start listening to people and most of the popular ones suck >_>...

I still played GoW2 and waiting for GoW3 but only because of the story.

I still play SotC once in a while to revisit its beautiful world.

this gen: well i didnt buy it but i did rent Assassin Creed, it really didnt live up to the hype.

Actually, me too. I only nought few games because of people's ratings, and all of it turned out to be crap for me.

We're the same. I hate GoW's gameplay but the story is just too great that it kept me from not buying GoW2 and waiting for GoW3.

There are several games were I don't like the gameplay but I still finished it because of the story.

I felt the same way about Halo 3 & Gears of War

mine is warhawk, liked for 2 secs and then just left it on the shelve for 2 weeks without looking at it.

I will, though I'll probably pass on Resistance 2. I was one of the people that liked the first Killzone despite it's flaws and I'd like to see how the story develops. A lot of the people hyping it just seem to be jumping on the bandwagon because of the nice graphics (which is all that seems to matter to some people these days...).

I will, though I'll probably pass on Resistance 2. I was one of the people that liked the first Killzone despite it's flaws and I'd like to see how the story develops. SHADOW!? YOU HATED SotC??

I loved that game-- though, I dont really play adventure games over again once I beat them. Still, it was a very moving and very beautiful experience.

For me it would have to be Oblivion IV (I was totally lost in the story, thought it was overwhelming and boring at the same time), Assassin's Creed (very repetitive and dull-- it should off next gen potential but once people got used to the generation, it proved to be very boring).

That's all I can really think of right now.

HOLY**** MAN! quit hating on killzone 2 you bash it every chance you get.

Yes alot of people will buy it because of it's graphics alone but just because THEY do doesn't mean that's all the game has to offer. I'm looking foward to kz2 because I liked the first one, OMG big shocker! And alot of other people did to, OMG another big shocker! Most people who say the first one sucked didn't even play it. And alot of people are looking foward to kz2 because of it's multiplayer also.
