Ever bought a game because it got high player review scores then regretted it?

Yes. I honestly regret buying Shadow of the Colossus. It was a boring game. Only things I like in SotC is the sceneries/landscape and graphics. For me it's more fun just walking around than fighting colossi. SotC's graphics is one of the best IMO. :)

I also kinda regret buying God of War. For me it's like a Onimusha clone. Kill enemies then absorb souls to upgrade weapons and refill health. Gameplay is way too linear. Only thing I like in God of War is the story.

All i'm doing is defending a game that I have been looking forward to for years. I sense your a little pissed off with me and that's fine cause tbqh, i'm a little pissed off with you.

I'll stop fighting with you if you stop cause this is really getting tiresome. But if I see people are bashing a future that i'm looking forward to when it's unnecessary, then i'm going to defend it. And if your one of those people then i'll have no choice but to speak up.

Half Life 2

Thought I was the only one, hehe. After about halfway through Half Life 2 I was just asking myself when is this going to end? I admit the end was pretty cool, but overall the game was mediocre.

well for me it was assassin creed, and grand theft auto 4... they put so much hype for nothin... those games actually sucked.

gta 4 was a huge regret and a waste of money for me. i gave it a go since everyone was talking about it like the second coming. i just couldnt get into the game.

I kinda regret buying Warhawk.

The idea of the game is awesome, and I love the cartoony styled graphics, but I could just never get into it.

I am a big fan of online gaming, but I dunno, I just never really enjoyed Warhawk.

Although, it was only £19.99 from the PS Store so it's not a huge loss.

I'll probably try to play it again and get into it soon, although it maybe just isn't my type of game.

If we're talking this gen, then COD4 and GTAIV. Talk about mediocre letdowns...

It's odd, before this gen I never really let review scores sway me either way and ended up with a lot of games that I enjoyed (only gifts and impulse buys had me end up with bad games), but this gen I actually start listening to people and most of the popular ones suck >_>...

Agreed. Cod4 was good not great. GTA was a big let down.

AC was an amazing game. My 2 games that I bought squarely off of hype was Haze and Lair and I will tell you Lair was terrible but that was before the new stick movements cause the early 6 axis was **** Why don't they incorporate more into that??? Haze was not as bad as everyone said. The graphics were great, multiplayer was just like RFoM and the story was long but kind of bland. GTA4 was great all besides the damn driving when, where, and why did they change it up from the others? That is like the big deal for the entire game and they messed it up. Oblivion on the other hand is AWESOME such a vast world and stories coming from everywhere. How could you not love that game and even with the expansion which made it even better?DeftonesRule

LAIR was always good and the Sixaxis was always responsive. My buddy got it and said that the controls suck because you cant use the analogs. I bought it and right from theget go, I had the flying down pat. I was great at it and my friend came over and saw me playing. His jaw dropped because I was good at it and he just realized that he sucked at it. Like most people on here who dont give a game credit because they are bad at it.

COD4, was a disappointment for me. I beat it in two days. I guess it an oline type of game, or may be I wasn't into it like everyone else.

Let me let u in on a little trick. If you go the capitalistic way and just want to eat everything up, then u will never appreciate them for their true value. I play games the same way i read novels and other books. Sometimes i feel like a great action game and so i go and buy it. If its great i find myself playing it day in and day out till i get to the end. If i jump right into another action game after the last one, i find myself making too many comparisons and not appreciating the new one or the latter.

I played GOW and absolutely loved the storyline and gameplay. This was 3months after playing Heavenly sword and before heavenly sword i had revisited Onimusha (part 1). I have GOW2 but i have not played it cos i dont feel like going in to slay people to misery yet. But i know when i do, I am gonna be on couch lock down for at least 3hrs a day. Great games are great games, you just have to pace yourself. I mean if you run into one action/love movie after the other you will end up saying you've seen it all...well duh!!!! Little themes are always repeated, small innovations made but still the same general trend

Happens unfortunately often... Gears of War is the first that come to mind.

Someone said Oblivion, but I rather liked Oblivion and think it deserved what it got, though I see what others find wrong with it. My main problem with Oblivion is the idea that it was better than Morrowind (according to review scores), which it very much wasn't.

Not really, I have made my share of mistakes over the years but I never made a review or anyone else make my decisions on purchasing games.

Personal research and love for the games is my own way.
