Goodwill gesture to include a free download, 1 month of PSN+ and Qriocity free

Notes handed out before a Sony press conference today (timedsoconveniently at 1am EDT in the US, and noon on the Sunday of Golden Week in Japan)reveal that Sony plans to offer free downloads of unidentified "content," 30 days of free PlayStation Plus access to new and existing members, and 30 days of free Qriocity service for only existing members. The paper also says that PSN service will be restored "soon." Link

What do you guys think of this? Personally, its a smart move for Sony to give out 1 month free of PSN+ and Qriocity free in hopes of keeping its current customers and gaining customers in the future. It's pretty much free advertising in hopes of gaining future customers who would never had interest in the two product in the first place.

Good gesture. I wasn't expecting them to give out anything, but now that our info might have been stolen they had to do something. I guess one more free month of PSN+ isn't a bad thing.

I don't plan on using Qriocity at all. A month free of PSN+ is pretty cool but I hope they don't hold back because everyone is getting a month free of it.

The 30 days of Qriocity is only for people who already subscribed to Qriocity, not to everyone. The_Rick_14

Glad to see they're doing something besides getting PSN back up, Sony has a lot of PR damage control it needs to do now for the next several months.

An extra month of PS+ is awesome, and I like free stuff. Truthfully though, I would have been fine it they just make sure this won't happen again. They didn't need to give me things.

How 'bout they give me back two weeks of baseball season that I haven't been able to watch my boys. I've already paid for PS+ and could give a crap about the friggin' PSN mini that they'll give me. You wanna give me something, how 'bout a flatout PSN $20 credit. Though I'm sure that the Sony Desktop Theme and Avatars will be charming, I just don't want them. Unidentified content my balls. Sounds better than nothing...plus, I was considering getting PSN + to check out the cloud saving features as I got three PS3's. :P

I dont have PS+, but I feel the existing users should get 2 month free instead of 1. It's abit unfair that someone who has never wanted to pay for or had interest in PS+ gets treated the same as someone who actively uses it and enjoys it.

I honestly wasnt expecting anything from Sony. This is awesome if its true. I enjoy the PSN service very much and I cannot wait to beable to play some Uncharted 2 MP.

It will be nice to try PSN+ because I've never subscribed before. No way am I putting my card on there though if they need it for a pre-authorization or something

I have to admit bribing and advertising a paid service at the same time is pretty cunning on Sonys part.

All I want from Sony is at least 6 months free membership to Experian or any other credit checking service, just so I can check no loans or anything else is used against my name or property...they can stick what they are offering atm as far as I am concerned

LOL and then they will not give out new content on PSN+ for the next month or so. ahahahaha. i can see it happening now.
