wrong forum, but there are a lot of insecure & ignorant people on the world... ignore them is the best you can dodanneswegman
or just be ruthless and keep killing them untill they leave :P
Im a homosexual gamer and i dislike the the smack talk used by alot of gamers these days indicating the oponent is G@y i find the concept of homosexuality being used as an insult very offensive-and can only indicate a juvinile and moronic minnd.I completely agree with you but like Rothman said, maybe not the right forum cause this thread is likely goin to go hell in a hand basket once some immature guys get wind of it... especially the trolls from other forums. Here, you're goin to need this*hands tidus9000 master chief's shield grenade*good luck*runs for life*
i say down with this kind of smack talk and just have fun
is a little respect to much to ask!
BTW i love the PS3tidus9000
I have a limited vocabulary and the word g@y sums lame stuff up pretty good. A lot of words have multiple meanings though and you should stop acting so defensive. grathan
i also agree that, that word has more than one meaning.. i can admit that i use that word more than i should too.. I mean no harm, but i can see how it can be offensive.

Meh, I call people gay queer and all those things all the time. Being gay isn't a good thing, like why would you like your own sex..anyways probably the wrong forum.
being gay isnt a good thing? i laughed hard when i read that part.
People are often offencive and thoughtless, on the other hand some people like myself are offencive and know exactly what they are saying when they say it. I'm prejudice against no group of people other than the ignorant, but I will absolutely refuse to moderate my words for the comfort of others when they have the option to not listen. On this forum I would of course be civil since it is a rule I had to agree to to be here but when I play games that directly involve shooting people in the face - for fun - I find any idea that words are offencive to be pretty pathetic.
I am not saying the poster of this topic is pathetic, in-case that slipped by anyone.
Words mean nothing, and the opinions of people who do not clearly understand the words they scream also mean nothing. So be offencive back at them, call them abused children of toad like parents. It's just how some people are when they know there is no threat of retaliation while the Internet is their shield.
Smile inwardly when you know that one day they will mouth off to the wrong person in the real world and get a sound lesson in forced moderation.
Incidentally we regularly host public Rainbow Six Vegas matches, nearly nightly. And we are a foul bunch of people in`ol [PwC] but the only time we ban people is when they cheat or are plain pathetic in their attempts to offend. Racism homophobia and all manner of cruelty can be funny in the correct context as many a comedy such as Black Adder has proven, but I will not tolerate genuine ignorance.
Just like the army mate, your sexual preferences should not enter into the game and telling people outright is just waving a big target for the idiot hordes.

nice post. (im not being sarcastic)
There are plenty of other offensive words out there that don't focus on one particular group, use those instead. You have no idea how hurtful it can feel to be singled out as if we are a different species of human. Such hateful words like that should never be spoken or written. RED_NAVE
On this I would disagree with you entirely. Misdirected hate is a very bad thing, but censorship is far worse. We need to fix the society we have and not force such dangerous rules as to dictate what must not be said or thought.
You for one must understand this, because you are part of a group that in some places in the world are still criminalised for your way of life. That is just as wrong as telling me I must never say things that offend people.

i not going to lie i say the word dont get offended **** alot on line and i love playing with a headset it makes it fun as hell im black and i hear littile kids saying what up my **** and that **** trippin but i dont get offended its funny to me just people trying to sound cool and be toughistayonfireboy
Some kid the other night asked if I was Pakistani in only the way a child of morons from England could do so, we did not ban him for it but I did give him a very clear lesson in what it takes to be genuinely cruel and offencive. Resorting to racial slurs and the like is just low grade ammunition and such people, I'd say I pity them but since it is Rainbow Six I prefer to fill them with bullets for their trouble ;)

To say that words mean nothing, is truly ignorant. I can agree with most points in your post however that one doesnt fly. The spoken and written word are very powerful. And being someone who has gone to jail for a mere prank phone call as a teen, words do mean something, and words alone can get people into a lot of trouble.

Censorship is wrong, But respect isn't.
i remember alot of people call people terrorist and bil laden paki on xbox live thats why i dont play halo on xbox live sick people cant say it to ur faceIQT786
so middle eastern racial slurs are bad? but telling someone thats its 100% wrong to feel the way they do sexually is ok?
heh you should prolly put this in OT or somethin but I sympathize. I think it's ridiculous how people run around doin that and it's pretty annoyingjacintos09
A girl? That is far worse than admitting you are gay on xbox live. The games just STOP while three quarters of the team desperately try to arrange World of Warcraft marriages over text message. A friend of mine was playing with us not long ago, and some random player noticed there was a non male amongst the group; the usual endless requests of "is there a girl here? WHO!?" started and just for the sake of upsetting him I said "Oi! Are you calling my brother gay!?"
A sheepish "Uh, no.." came back and he quit the match.
How topical!

Law does not equate directly to correct. I happen to disagree with those laws, and I live in a country (currently) where telling a person they were an idiot for doing something stupid can get you in a lot of legal trouble. I say what I please still because that is what I believe is correct.
However if people are to believe that words can directly be offencive as opposed to the intent they are spoken with I would like to make it clear that I find the colour blue highly offencive and I'll thank you not to use it around me!

i'm totally a believer that it isn't the word itself but the intent behind it.
still, saying something that has the potential to cause offense to someone is a no-no for me. it's like calling a black person **** or saying jesus christ in front of a christian. no matter what your personal feelings on a word is, if its going to cause offense to someone else, why say it?
i also think that saying things are gay when you mean lame is silly. it just ends up generating this feeling that gay people are lame and pathetic and stupid. why cant people just say lame if that's what they mean
while i have been one to say that something is gay i dont do it that often. and its no big deal for me, im not insulting gay people so it doesnt matter. you do realize that one word can have 2 meanings? and anything you or I say can potentially be offensive to someone, so theres really nothing you or i can do. and your saying that just b/c your gay you have a problem with it, but if you weren't you probably won't have a problem with it. Gokuja
Certainly proximity to the subject is a great cause of what you feel, although there are those odd people who get offended on behalf of someone else. Those people baffle me sometimes.
Perception is the perfect example of the ignorance that makes us people who use more than 3% of our brains feel insulted that a person like him could be associated with us. He's probably one of those guys that thinks members of the gay community try and recruit other men into some gay army that's going to take over the country. Seriously, there are people that think this is true, that's why it's more sad than it is funny.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being gay For many people being gay isn't something that they just wake up and choose to be. It's who they are. Just like being heterosexual is who I am. I didn't choose to be straight, I was born that way and I think a lot of people can agree that people are born to be gay. They may not realize or accept their sexuality at first because society constantly bombards them with the expectation of being straight. But deep down, any gay person can probably feel that they have always been gay.
Anyone that can't understand this and see that homosexuality is as natural as heterosexuality really needs to try reading some books and learning about that odd concept called tolerance (I'm looking at you Perception). I've got a lot of respect for a gay gamer that can play any game online because people throw foul words around that are infinitely offensive to them and that's just as bad as throwing around the racial slurs or any other derogatory language that targets a group of people.
Perception- It's time to grow up.

Im actually married, and I dont quite agree with homosexuality *I dont hate people who are though* and dont call me a homophobe, I cant disagree with certain lifestyles cant I?
I agree though, people who do those things are simply stupid. The best thing to do is mute them, report them and make sure you set it so you never play with them again...I dont know if PSN lets you do that Im just going by what I do on XBL.
