me too i remember gaming online with my pals on PC's, using an IRC room to clan chat & join various games, have a laugh online, maybe organise a clan match, or just talk absolute rubbish for a few hours Home reminds me much of this, but obviously more integrated, you can invite your mates to you house, have a few games of something simple, organise matches, talk crap, watch a movie, go play resistance ect ect I'm really looking forward to having a place to go after leaving a game for a chat & a laugh with online friends

Look bud.. I would have a PS3 if it wasn't $600, simply cannot afford it right now.. I can still talk about the console if I want. On these boards, I talked about the PSP and 360 years before I got them. I wish I could have every console, but I just can't.. To make you happy.. I don't like the matchmaking stuff on DS, I dont like that my 360 broke once (tho fixed for free), and I dont like that my PSP thumb nub moves to the left constantly. Did you really have to call me a fanboy? It's true i like the PS3 over the other consoles, but at least i don't bash what i don't like ( your welcome to look at my posting history and see that the only places i post is this forum and my union). Ok, people seem to have the compulsory need to compair Home to something. Thats fine, if your brain works like that and has to work it out slowly then thats fine. It IS like Habahotel and tose types of games, but keep in mind that those games are hugely popular. Second can't you see how they use the awsome power of the cell to imbed video and HD content. 360 and Wii can't do that. Remember that PSN is Open, meaning its content is not contolled by Heir Gates. The final verdict is, Home is coming whether you like it of not. And sure, its not %100 original, but that isn't everything. They have taken the best of everything and put it togeather. After All "A smart person finds the solution by trying many different ideas. The smater person looks at what has been done, and inproves upon them." (or however that goes.)

QFT, wonderful assessment there mate, finally someone who understands how complicated the Home actually is. people try to compare Sims with Home but what they fail to understand is that Home is not a game, home is a form of simulated reality and if you really want to compare it to something you should compare it to Matrix in some extent.

seriously they aren't take games of the PS3 to do this its been in development, if you don't want it don't download let the people who want it be happy about and have fun with it, and seriously its a like a virtual gamespot forum without 360 fanboys infesting the littlebigworld.

No, I'm not hating on it. The OP was about Sony being "out of touch" with gamers. Last I checked there's tons of people still playing almost every MMO still being serviced. Heck, Runsecape still gets tons of play.

There are similarities between HOME and Sims. On that note the similarities are VERY basic, the sims does not come close to the interactive community of HOME, while HOME does not have all the micromanagement that the Sims has. Besides the sims is a game, HOME is a virtual community, and while I can see where the comparisons are drawn from, they are very different beasts. All that being said, I hope HOME lives up to the hype. It looks EXTREMELY interesting.

It's not the sims!!!! The last time I checked, the sims REQUIRED you to take care of their needs such as hygiene, mood, health, fun, etc. This thing called Home is a virtual place to meet!!! I don't think you need sleep to be able to go around other apartments. A sim would have had the Bravia shatter into a million pieces had it went tumbling down the stairs. Word to the unwise: If you don't like it, don't buy it. If your not a McRib at McDonalds, guess what? You don't have to buy it!!! It's very simple. I've come to the conclusion that we are a civilization that is never satisfied and **** and complains way too much!!! Have you seen people from other countries with little or nothing? They survive and are grateful for whatever lands in their laps. Just enjoy home for what it's worth, a virtual meet and greet place.

If Sony is soooo out of touch with gamers, then why would they encourage or allow devs to have their own space set up in home? Wouldn't you like to be able to chat with devs and give them fresh ideas that they may have overlooked and so forth? Sony is allowing creativity from their user base (gamers) to shine thru and their out of touch? Give me a break....

I called you a fanboy cause you think that just people that don't have a PS3 dont like Home. That is blindsided fanboyism.... meaning, You don't even stop to think that even some PS3 owners are posting all over the net about how they don't really care for Home.. you are just automatically assuming its non-PS3 owners when its actually a mixed bag. You're right about me not being extremely happy about all of Sony's choices.. I mean they have been doing some really odd stuff. But I am a videogame fan, and a Playstation fan... and just because I dont agree with everything Sony is doing right at this moment doesnt mean I can't post here. BTW - A fanboy is someone that only sticks with one brand of console and is closed minded about everything else. ...which sounds more like you actually. I didn't like the look of this.Then I actually read about it.

I'm not really into meeting people online in a major way(I know I'm in a forum but I just dip in and out a bit)but the idea of gathering with friends in enclosed,personal space and playing abit of pool and bowling while chatting is god damn awesome.I have friends that live miles away,I see them months apart.You could watch a film with someone in real time,while talking and for the cost of the movie(once you've bought a nice Tv for your flat).

The comaprisons with Miis are rediculous.Ninty did not invent this.This is more like second life(read Tim Guests coloumn in Edge mag for details)and that means the possibilies are huge.Imagine visiting areas run by devs and having your say on their game in an environment far less sterile than the forum.Shopping with friends miles away by walking into the same music shop browsing together without the cost of a phone bill or looking at just pages of text.

I still have my reservations about execution but the idea is forward thinking and should be considered exciting.

I can't really see a negative and this is why.It seems to me that the user will have almost total control over your level of interaction.It looks like you can go straight to gaming if you want to,stay in your space with friends and see no thers users orinvite everyone into your life and show them what you are about(a la Myspace).This combines the best community features of the PC and puts them in one,hopefully seamless,place.

I was once scared of Home, because I thought it was getting away from games, and more towards Socializing. But after I saw the Hall of Fame, i got pre-mature on myself. Sorry for details. Anyways, I look forward to this idea now, and can't wait for it to change the PS3.

PS.s for being out of touch and being Sims like.Have you seen the sales figures for the Sims or the numbers of subscribers for MMO/Virtual worlds now and they are no where near as mainstream as the Playstation is ,or as ingrained in the public perception of games.

Yeah okay..... In real life you could try out for the NFL but you still play Madden. In real life you could go out steal cars, kill cops, and sell drugs, but you still play Grand Theft Auto. In real life you could spend hundreds of thousands of dollars and pimp you ride and race people up and down the streets, but you still play Need for Speed.... You get my point. Shut Up!!!

It isn't like anyone is cramming it down your throat, just like how no one is telling you that Full Auto is good (but that is a different story).

its not a game dude, whast wrong with you, if sony is out of touch with gamers you are out of touch with technology. it is just made to meet new people to share gamign expereince with adn play games with. it is more personal then e-mail and IM so you might actually make a friend instead of an internet friend. its all about meeting new gamers to play online with. and its brilliant

Since SONY went online with PS2 all they have done is been compared to Xbox Live. And everyone has complained about the quality of their online service. People said it would always be behind Live because its free and "you get what you pay for". With the release of the PS3, SONY's online was again criticized for being pretty crappy and lacking in features. Its not next-gen, you can't even multitask or have background downloading. So now they have an in depth plan to make the best, and most in depth, online experience in gaming FOR PS3 users. And now people are complaining that HOME's ideas and features are not original and that they aren't focusing on gaming at SONY anymore.

Lol...I'm known as a troll cause I disagree with the almighty Sony from time to time. :) I have had every Playstation (PS1, PS2, and PSP).. only one I haven't owned yet is PS3.... not cause I am a fanboy, but because so far, I am not agreeing with what Sony thinks makes a good game machine. And FYI, I probably had an original PS1 before most people even knew what it was.

Personally I could give a rats ass about Home. I wish sony would have used their time and resources on something else. What a waste. I mean come on everytime I want to listen to audio though my stereo receiver I have to swith the audio output how about fixing that, how about upscalling games to 1080p like xbox 360 does and not waste my tv with 720p. How about fixing compatability with upscalling ps2 games for high def tv. I have a home I don't want a fake one

Since SONY went online with PS2 all they have done is been compared to Xbox Live. And everyone has complained about the quality of their online service. People said it would always be behind Live because its free and "you get what you pay for". With the release of the PS3, SONY's online was again criticized for being pretty crappy and lacking in features. Its not next-gen, you can't even multitask or have background downloading. So now they have an in depth plan to make the best, and most in depth, online experience in gaming FOR PS3 users. And now people are complaining that HOME's ideas and features are not original and that they aren't focusing on gaming at SONY anymore. NavigatorsGhost

How about playing movies in 1080p like ps3 does and not 360?! 0_0 and with in time sony will fix it and home will make games longer lasting and more fun with trophys do you even have a ps3?!

The PS3 has been a boring bust so far. With no AAA titles yet (yes resistance has been done before and better its a B plus game) all it is for me is a cheap blu ray player. I have over 80 blu rays so I cant even get rid of my PS3 unless I want to spend a grand on a Blu Ray Player

Resistance has been done before? show me another game with half those weapons, and one with the AI and physics, dont say gears, cause gears had the worst physics and AI ive ever seen, it was just pretty and had a chainsaw. the only game ive seen that can come close was Half Life 2, very good physics and AI in that game, but nothing compared to Resistance

How is Sony out of touch with gamers oh thats right any body who owns another system is so far away when it comes to online community's know. That they feel they have to spam the PS3 boards due to a severe cause of envy.

Folks, I think the point most people are missing is that you won't be required to use Home to do anything. It will be a separate app. If you dont like the idea of the movie theater thing, great....use the XMB and watch it there. Don't like finding friends in home but still want to play online. That's fine too. Just use the same ole methods you're using now. I realize people are just stating opinions on it but to say things like "Sony is out of touch with gamers" is just ridiculous because as it was stated before them working on home takes nothing away from the devs who are making the games. Sorry...so much ranting that I couldnt help but throw my two cents in.
