[QUOTE="Abecale"]

[QUOTE="clicketyclick"] We're giving our opinions on the game. You're giving your opinions on other people, what they're like, and how they should give their opinions. That's the difference.clicketyclick

I gave my opinion, expressed how i felt, and defended my opinion. Its the internet, its how it works.

"I think you need to take a step back, chill out" "Maybe you should ring up Quantic Dream and tell them that "Madison didnt use shampoo, body wash or toilet paper, so therefor, its not immersive enough"...Please." "It would be okay if your arguement had valid points, but it just seems rife with gender bias." "your the only one getting into a tiff about it. If you feel that strongly about it, tell Quantic Dream, im sure they would love to hear it." "You say you didnt get frantic and crying, but your post, you can clearly see you got really worked up about it." "Oh? So you've been in a situation like Ethan's then? Im sorry, its just your talking like you've been there before" ... has nothing to do with defending your opinion. You're attacking other people for stating theirs.

Those were a means to get my point across. If you dont like been replied to, dont post on forums.

Also, we are getting way side-tracked from the main point.

[QUOTE="ProjectTrinity"]Spoilers, mates! It did not provide any story value. Chopping a finger to save a son is story value (although that strip scene is barely debatable). The moment the game had some unrealistic characters/situations/actions, the argument that the game was portraying society got kind of shot.Abecale

Oh? So you've been in a situation like Ethan's then? Im sorry, its just your talking like you've been there before. Your son has been kidnapped and you know what people should do/how to act/where to go.

Of course there are moment in the game that dont provide any story value. Does any movie have a scene that doesnt provide to the story? Of course, you cant be bombarded with story plot moments every second of every moment. Directors know that viewers need some downtime, to be able to breathe, take it all in.

If you're done expressing your opinion, you might want to keep two things in mind:

Ethan has absolutely nothing to do with anything. I don't even know why you even bought him up other than to start what I could call a meaningless post. There are better ways to do that. (In the event you read the previous post wrong, somehow, I did not call Ethan's actions useless or unjustified. In fact, I happen to love Ethan's courage and it makes complete sense for a father to want to do that. Therefore, adding to the story. What was your point?)

And two, who cares about what movies and games do for downtime. If I, you, or anyone else doesn't "prefer" the said downtime and finds it useless in terms of plot, Who cares about downtime on this topic? The point was: "Not essential to the plot whatsoever". Depending on preference, you liked said "downtime" or not. You talking won't change that.

And finally, note to everyone: Abecale is NOT Symphonycometh in disguise. I can promise that!

Wow seems like there is opinions all over the place, and I meant mostly full frontal, Quantic Dream used clever camera angles to cover up genitalia for the most part.

So the question is, why did they cover up some and not others? Why were others left uncovered? Is there some pattern you can see? Clearly: the men were covered, the women weren't. In other words, the whole "it was necessary for the story" or "it enhanced immersion" explanations are completely bs. It was a cynical marketing move and has no more depth and artistry to it than those neon signs outside strip clubs advertising "XXX nude girls!"

In case you're new to the whole ESRB thing. Bum = T, boobies M, and Crotch = AO. Thats why.

They took the gamble because they're rockstar. QD couldn't afford such a gamble.

You said crotch = AO. Lost and the Damned shows that crotch = M. The end.

Yes it safe to assume that crotch = AO. Like I said rockstar took a gamble, QD didn't. Really what answer are you looking for? Rockstar always takes these risk. You can't expect other devs to follow suite. You can't make everything black and white then call it a day. Lost and the Damned shows that(in their instance) crotch = M but as a general rule of making a game crotch = AO.

I thought the strip scene was very relevant to Maddison's character. Especially when you consider her profession and erason for involvement in the story. It shows the lengths she'll go to to get what she's after...how's that?! Did that without spoilers :D

You're right about the shower scenes not providing story value, but I don't think they're meant to. They're just in as a tool to get you more involved in the story by providing you the option to do what you would normally do at home. That said I agree that the game cannot be said to be portraying society at all. But serial killers, kidnaps and all the other crazy stuff that goes on isn't exactly a normal day and, if it weren;t for that, we'd be playing sims with pretty graphics and I wouldn't have forked over the dollars :)
