lmao, why do you still have all 3 consoles sitting in your house?? a console graveyard sitting in ur living room(or wherever u play). thats what BC is for to get that clutter out your house. i don't see why you're on here bragging that u have all 3 when u have a ps3 that plays all or most of the games you have. i really don't see the point of having all three or even just two systems still unless ur a kid with no girlfriend. loving a system is one thing but keeping all three when one system plays all the games like a dedication to the history of japanese gaming is some funny shii.[QUOTE="zeforgotten"]I have my PS3, PS2 and PS1 hooked up to the TV at the same time. so i don't NEED to use the PS3 for my PS2 games. and i can honestly say, that i didn't give a rats...you know.. about the BC, because when you have the previous consoles. you don't need it. But if you were a dumb child, (lol. just kidding :P) and sold your PS2 and PS1 to afford the PS3, then it could be important if you still own the old games for the two consolesChartTopper93
i collect them. but you're right about the kid part. i am a kid, BUT i do have a girlfriend. and people once said that the European PS3 wasn't BC or, NOT as much. plus i also have my N64, Atari 2600. and other consoles. just because i like them. so yeah. that's why.
I bought my PS3 at launch and i only own one PS3 game; what do you think?
Although i also have a few PSN titles, I have been constantly looking for gd PS2 games to get; got like 6 since launch.
It's not that PS3 games are bad, it's just that there are SO many great PS2 games that you could get at a low price.
It's not convenient to play PS2 games on my PS2 while I have a.... PSTHREE; especially in a long run where my PS2 will likely stop working.
But anyhow, at least you got choice; you could get the 80gb for BC; but with BC, the 40gb will be much better for the kids who can only afford 399.
It should be important for GAMERS. It was very important for Sony to announce BC when the PS3 first came out and howthey criticised MS for not implementing it in their system.
By the way, on a side note, how is Rogue Galaxy? I've been reading a lot of people list it as one of the PS2 games they still play?

Dude, I'm playing Rogue Galaxy right now. It is truely the bridget between last gen and this gen. It is almost like a transitional title, where you can see how graphically it looked more like (last gen + new gen)/2.
And if BC is important to you, just buy the 80GB when the price drops or the 60GB now.

I guess not even a 0.01% of all gamers have PS3, PS2, and PS1 all hooked up and working.
Yeah you don't need to give a rat to BC, but that's just you.
ABSOLUTELY!
One of the biggest reasons why I bought a PS3 was because it would be fully backwards compatible with PS2 and PS1 games. I am so glad that I bought one at launch.
The PS2 and PS1 have a massive library of excellent games. By allowing them to be playable on the PS3, it allows me to have a "universal" system that will play all the PS games that I like.
I have played most, if not all of my PS2 games on my PS3. I gave my PS2 to my little cousin after I got my PS3 and he gave me his Gamecube. Now I have the opportunity to experience games like Zelda Wind Waker and Metroid Prime.
I'm in college right now and don't have the space to take 2-3 consoles around with me. Having one console that does everything is such a blessing.
The Orange Box is a PS3 game that I will happily be playing on my PS3. The original Half Life is only available on the PS2. I am happy that I can play the original Half Life (PS2) to learn about the back story while waiting for The Orange Box.
SONY is just being sly and making those who want backwards compatibility buy another PS2 to play PS2 games. For $400, I STILL EXPECT backwards compatibility. I mean seriously...how much does it cost them to have the games emulated? RIDICULOUS...
I would be devastated without backwards compatibility... I own over 70+ PS1 and PS2 titles, and the sole reason I purchased a PS3 was due to the death of my PS2 (had it for 6 years and i abused that thing), I have so many games i have yet to beat... I was really tempted to purchase a 360... however with the death of my ps2... the choice seemed rather easy... I saw no point in purchasing 2 consoles. Honestly... it really does irritate me when people cry about how the ps3 is lacking games... sure the there may be a lack of ps3 titles... but c'mon i play more ps2 titles than ps3 games... I just bought bully, Psychonauts and Persona 3 just the other day... now tell me i'm bored with my ps3...pfft....
anyways here the top 3 games I play on my ps3 currently.... 1) Persona 3 2) Warhawk 3) Pro Evolution Soccer
Backwards Compatibility is the #1 reason I bought the PS3, after I gave the old PS2 to my brother. IfSony can cut the cost and introduce a model at a lower price but without BC, good for them.
I already got the 60GB with 98% BC, so I don't really care what Sony does to the new models.
Me too, lol...i have played the hell out of that game...i will cry if they dont make a 3rd on the ps3, if it goes to wii, i may have to buy one...but back on subject...i dont think its needed after the first 6 months of launch. after that you should have played those games and if not, you dont care enough XDya i use its Bc it works fine .
Mostly i use it on kindom hearts

4reasons i play ps2 games on my ps3:
1. not much ps3 games to play (hopefully that'll change this november)
2. my ps2 takes like 5 mins to load a game (lens problem i suspect)
3. not enough room to set my ps2 anywhere near my tv
4. too many wires :P
i'd rather play ps2 games on my actualy ps2 if not for these reasons. BC sure is convenient though.
I would, but I didn't have a PS2 and bought a Hong Kong PS3. But it is a big deal to me- it's bad enough that Sony won't allow PS2 games to be regionfree.
I honestly can't see the logic in taking out BC. The cost of a PS2 + a 40gb PS3 is about the same cost as a 60gb PS3. Now, a PS2 costs more to manufacture as it has things like casing and a controller. So really, this is sort of a scam for Sony to save more cash on the PS3 and hopefully get people to buy a PS3 now that it's "cheaper."
make a pollIn response to the 40 gb ps3 without BC, I was wondering.. how many ps3 owners actually play ps2 games on their ps3, or plan to do so in the future? Cuz Ive had mine for over a week now, and the only plans I have to play any ps2 game on my machine is one of the socom games to play online, if my brother wants. I appreciate the fact that it's there, but Idont see why anyone would complain about it missing it.
To those who dont have a ps3, how many of you actually think BC is a must have feature on a ps3?
