Is it me, or does Playstation 3 have a more mature fan-base?

I'm noticing while playing online you're not constantly being called lewd names, or be in a server where a child in screaming illiterate banter at the top of his lungs. I think this is what online play should be about, maturity, good sportsmanship and so on. I can name another console where kids and some adults are acting as retarded as ever.

I dunno, but thats just the way i see it. So far, PSN is the best Online community i've ever been apart of.

I don't mind... Cos I'm not a kid nor a parent lol... And I wouldn't mind my kid playing games such as Dark Sector, Condemned2 and Whatnot... As long as they let me play now and then :D

I think its do a lot to not having a mic with the system. I agree though it is much better than live with the immature screamers, but PSN still does have its share of annoying kids

It's just you. I own all the systems, and I can safely say that each one has its fair share of maturity and immaturity.

Play COD4 or RFOM (especially RFOM)

That'll change your mind. It's not the system, but the games you play. Games that are too complicated for the general casual idiot, won't be populated by them. Good example, Socom.

When I think consoles I think PS3 . But Nintendo may have kiddy over-coat but there 1st party games are quite complex. I mean I still havent mastered a Mario games since SNES and it has nothing to do with the maturity of the game(s).

No it's because "you're cheating" and you shouldn't be using gun B instead of gun A. Everybody whines like babies with no spines and wants a handicap. I just tell them, "stop whining like a ***** and shut up and play!" They're so stupid, they would rather sit there and try to argue with you instead of just finding another room. lol

Wow, mods deleted my message for off topic posting? I think it was VERY ON TOPIC. Must be a butt hurt fanboy. Anyhow I will repost it censored lol.

LOL I quit playing on the other console for two main reasons.

  1. Why pay to play on the other consoles online network when my PSN experience is far less laggy
  2. PSN for the most part has a much more mature audience.

I wondered why that is for a long time and I think its a combination of 2 things. Price and availability. The other console had a year headstart and impatient kids probably went for the first thing "next gen". Then when the PS3 first came out I'm sure most youngsters couldn't talk mommy into getting one when the the other console was right next to it on the shelf for $200 less.

Basically it was destined to be a kid magnet from the start.

PS mods: I love the other console just as much, I was simply stating my on topic opinion.

5+ rooms of 40 13-17 year olds spouting F this, N that, C this, FU that when about 37 of them are all internet "tough guys" while the other 3 just don't have a mic. This wasn't just 1 experience mind you, it was every time I went online with that game.

I also love when these losers try to use their "high score" as an insult towards me, like I really care anyways. "Yeah man, I killed 30 people this round, I don't see you having that score!" I usually respond "Unlike your pathetic existence who's whole life revolves around a trivial kill score, I happen to have a real life. So while you yap about your score to your nerdy friends at school, I'll be going on with my adult life thinking about REAL things" They usually don't know how to respond to that one lol

I just don't see how people can take this way too seriously? Like "need a shrink" seriously like it's the only thing they have going in their lives. It's amusing yet you feel pity for them at the same time.

Comes with the bigger price tag to an extent... which definately isn't a bad thing... I mean it is fun to sometimes just trash talk so long as its welcome, as it should be. That's what most people do during sports games or any sort of competition... when you just complain tho and get carried away it can be bad.

Also, many online games are rated mature for a reason... so if kids can't handle the mic how can they handle a mic? only makes sense... its a moral issue.

But I need to get online more, and definately will with SOCOM to see for myself. I've not been online really.

I agree, but I still play the other console online for exclusives. PSN for multiplay all the way!

Dont feel bad about the mods either. One of my buddies posted some hilarious MGS4 pics a couple of months before its release (mind you no profanity or anything like that) and got banned. Everyone who posted in the topic thought they were hilarious.

Sometimes I think the mods lil brothers get a hold of their account or something.

I must agree, with Wii there is no mic and harldly any way to communicate.

With PS3 I am more likely to run into more immature adults, racist or children, then someone who knows how to have fun but respect the community. The reason is because its so uncommon that people have mics that the percentage that they are a douche bag is higher than another system, probably because they feel like they have to say or act childish just to get attention, like its been pent up and since they finally have someone that can hear them or talk with them they act this way. I have run into more problems on the PS3, especially with MGO, even if you cant hear them they can still send the GIANT TEXT across the whole screen.

With 360 a mic is standard, so everyone has a mic, yes you will run into racist, children, immature adults and such things but you have a higher percentage to find like minded people that you can vibe with. I have been with 360 since launch and at first you would get a lot of annoying people like I mentioned, because it was so new to them they could talk crap and be safe from harm in their moms basement. That has not been a problem for years now, yes it still happens but with the mute function, that person is muted forever until you unmute them, also you have the option to report people and it works, lots of people have been suspended or banned. Last but not least 360 has the private chat, with this you talk with your group of friends while playing games or sitting in the dashboard, so you are not bothered by anyone that you dont want to be bothered with.

Weill your lucky but that is the worst part you ran into someone and had no way of muting or stopping their text from flooding your screen, Konami or Sony needs to fix that.

I feel you about the immaturity in MGO. To just explain one of my experiences. I had someone call me all kinds of names and had me kicked from a game because In the first match I was sniping on the roof and every time he tried to get on the roof I would either kill him with C4 or place a SVD in his dome piece. On the second match I ran into his teams spawn and kept killing his whole team with my grenade launcher. Then 10 seconds later "Request to kick Calligraphist" I'm like WTF! It was funny at first but adding this to other situations, it ruined the MGO for me. Hopefully this won't happen with Socom.

Exactly, people think 360 is the only one with this problem NO, like I said you are more likely to run into good people, because more people talk and have mics.

People complain about spawn camping on MGO but even in the instruction book it says to spawn camp, also if they complain about that they should complain about the box trick.

Last but not least 360 has the private chat, with this you talk with your group of friends while playing games or sitting in the dashboard, so you are not bothered by anyone that you dont want to be bothered with.

Yeah I use to feel the same way about the 36o having the most immature gamers until I played R6 Vegas on the PS3. I love Vegas 1 &2 but I just can't vibe wit that type of online community. You just have to find like minded people and play when they play to get the best online experience. Plus I have grown to know that the territory comes with the game. LMAO @ dudes hating spawn camping. Whats the big deal? I get most of my kills from spawn campers lol!

I've run across plenty of morons on PSN, especially in Burnout Paradise. I've been dreading going online in SC4 just because fighting games seem to bring out the worst in people.

Yea, it's just you. Don't kid yourself into thinking that. You'll encounter people like that soon enough.

So far, PSN is the best Online community i've ever been apart of.

well, you figure, who'd give a five hundred dollar machine to a child? And I'll have to agree with you: Live is horrible with the population of annoying people. At least with PSN I can chill out while playing online. At least, with my experience.

as an owner of all 3 i can say live is by far the worst, id say mostly because every live game is open mics, making the online experiance about %50 more annoying than it needs to be. im tired of going into a room and the first thing i need to do is mute everyone because all i hear are kids, music, and static.

I think so, mainly because the higher price of the PS3 when compared to the Wii. Also the Xbox 360 is a standard Christmas gift to any 12-16 year old boy. This is only my opinion and there are always exceptions.

i can think of at least one reason why it might appear to be this way. the other systems, where childish behaviour is rampant in online play, is because the headset is packaged with the system, or online cards, and just generally moreaccessibleso you are going to have more people using it, and this of course means more idiots. "an empty vessel makes the most noise."

as for which system has the more mature fan base, i think it would have to be the wii. the whole reason for the wiis dominance in the market is that non-gamer demographics are buying this thing like crazy. my roomates dad, who is 50+ years old, and just got rid of the last kid in the house is buying a wii. the little kid stigma with nintendo iswhollyfalse, the gamecube had eternal darkness and res evil for example, the wii has no more heroes, godfather, and madworld on the way. nintendo is about family fun, and while their flagship titles include acutesyplumber, theyrealizethere are members of the family who are more entertained by decapitations, and other felonies.

Almost every single game I join on XBL there are little kids screaming, talking non stop, or just making stupid random sounds. A lot of this is because Xbox comes with a mic, but still much more annoying and very more prevalent on the xbox.

There are point that would lead to that conclusion.

Its costs more, so little kids wont be as likely to have it.

Though i think its more about mics, many people just dont use them. I tried using one once in warhawk. I was on a bridge being attacked by a rocket ground turret and asked for help, none arrived :( I died...

Usually I justmute people if they are speaking. It just distracts from what you are doing. Though With socom I will leave it turned on.

i remember alot of immature morons on xbox 360 live. the talking was not my worries though it was the freezing online and red ring of death that annoyed me. PS3 is better to me. and yes there are more mature ps3 fans then 360 fans. they complain that ps3 suks and they dont have a good reason why the 360 is better. its just annoying, i did own all three consoles but 360 broke down three times and wii was just boring.

It;s easy ps3 is more expensive and dads and moms don't wan't to buy the expensive console to kids and teens because most of them do not deserve it becasue they act bad do not respect their fathers, but just to not hear their sons screams they go and buy a cheapper 360, and then is why you see so many loud ingorants kinds on xbox live.

many of the same people are on PSN...rude, dumb people are not exclusive to the "other " system...so dont fool yourself. Its just that voice communication is not all that popular on the ps3 to begin with.

Best community? Have you played on xbox Live as well? If not, you can't say one is better than the other if you haven't experienced it.

I have a PS3 and Wii and I played XBOX 360 online a my friend's house a couple of times. The number of times on the 360 I just jump into a game in the first minute I have already heard n**** what up, f*** you a-hole, I would kick all your asses in real life. With the PS3 I have not had that probably except in Madden. Wii I rarely play online so I could not comment. But after that first minute of COD4 at my friends house I was stunned at all the language I was hearing from kids that were probably no older than 13 or 14 years old. After that I decided to just get a PS3 instead of 360. I would rather play a game where I am not getting screamed at every single second. I have had the same problem on CSS on PC, but it is not as bad on the servers on play on.

Yep in a year I've heard 2-3 rants from people just going crazy with their language and wanting to hurt someone, or N this and N that on the ps3. 2 days on the 360 I matched that and actually beat the 3 rants on the ps3. I wonder if that is an achievement lol.

They can do that? I didn't know you could kick someone out. Like i said, i don't do a lot of online. And lol but i found the line- "Request to kick Calligraphist" funny! I'm imagining people voting you off! No offense though.

my kids are gonna be VETERANS at survival horror games and socom games.

and, back on topic, yeah i love the ps3 online.....doesnt cost a fortune, and people have some sense.....eh, sometimes.....most of the time

but one thing i do hate is the mexicans. ya know, the dudes that play cod4 at night and all their names are like pablo234 and theres at least 10 of them. i dont hate mexicans for their race, their presence and their voice is just....BAAHH
