Jeez Kevin, when are we gonna get that Ni No Kuni review?

I find Gamespot's reviews to be just about dead-on with my opinions on games, so I usually base my purchases off them (except when I bought Resident Evil 6 thinking, there's no way it could be that bad... but Gamespot was right again). Dying for the Ni No Kuni review here so I know if I should stop at the store tomorrow.

Prepared for Kevin to drop the bomb on his review...

I'm sure he is doing his best, I have enjoyed Kevin's reviews of RPG's for many years and he truly is one of very, very few people you can trust when it comes to role playing games specifically, it's also a very long game - it takes time to properly review it.

As for Ni No Kuni, I wouldn't even wait for review, it will be a phenomenal game that every jrpg should pick up and play. There is so much information available on the game already, look it up. ;)

Well I like RPGs, but JRPGs -- I haven't played one in a long time, and feel I could go either way on it. If Kevin gives it a 9 or better, I'll pick it up for sure.

He'll give it an 8 I think. But let's be honest, it's gotten a plethora of wonderful scores from just about every site out there, so a GS score shouldn't sway your decision at this point.

Personally I think it's wonderful so far, albeit very early in the game.

Less than an hour until I get off work. Can't wait to pick it up today.

After playing this game for 10 hours straight. I can say is that it will need more effort from developers to top this game.

Probably the best RPG that came out this generation.

Considering it's a Japanese game, and especially since Studio Ghibli is behind it, I really hope it can be played with Japanese voices. If this is not an option then I want nothing to do with the game.colibriosis

Hey, how'd you get my picture? j/k After playing it all day today, I'd say it looks like it's one of the very best games of this generation. Yet another great PS exclusive, and I read they're planning to do a sequel if it does well on the western market... it's so good I can't believe it won't do well.

Anyway, this should happily hold me over until DS3, GoW:A, and Tomb Raider come out :-)

i am enjoying the game, but i have to say that Oliver's writing is kinda bad.... and his voice acting is mediocre so it is a double whammy. if i have to hear "jeepers" or "golly" for 50 hours i will probably just stop playing. also, im pretty tired of the protagonists in RPGs being little kids these days. i dont know why jRPGs always have kids for characters, but it really needs to stop. last time i checked, an 8 year old isnt saving diddly **** they would take one look at a giant monster and wet themselves. i understand it is a game and fantasy, but i cant get over that fact. seemed like there for a while, about 6 years ago or so, that was going to change with games like Lost Odyssey coming out.... but then Blue Dragon, XenoBlade (amazing game even with teenager characters), Final Fantasy 13-2, and now Ni No Kuni.... they just keep putting out RPGs with juvenile main characters.

the problem is, these games typically dont have stories that make you forgot about the character's age, or the stories dont put the characters in situations that make them seem more "mature" than their age would suggest. They dont make games like Grandia or Breath of Fire anymore where even though the characters are 15 years old, they are involved in more mature, engaging stories that help you overlook that fact. While i think Ni No Kuni is neat and everything about the game is adorable.... i can definitely tell that it isnt going to go down as one of my top favorite RPGs just because it is so childish -always-. everything about the game is childish. the art design, how the characters look, how they talk and act, how the familiars look, how you feed them "sweets" to make them better, how the characters are always so ignorant of how the world works....

i dont mind having a bit of this in my games. i can think of several, like the original Grandia, that have made use of that kind of stuff to great effect to lighten the mood. however, having an entire game based around it, and throwing it in your face for 50 hours is just not entertaining for me. It really is hard to take Ni No Kuni serious when Mr. Drippy is NAMED MR DRIPPY.... and is talking about worlds ending... and then Oliver fires back with a "Jeepers!" How am i SUPPOSED to take it serious when i know an 8 year old probably couldnt even comprehend the idea of the end of the world in the first place.

I'm 40, and that was my big concern before getting the game (that it was for kids). It kinda is and kinda isn't. I'd equate it to Shrek. I could watch Shrek with a 10 year old, and we'd both enjoy it a lot. That's how Ni No Kuni is.

I think a 9/10 is laughably LOW if it's anything. 9.5 or 10 is what it deserves. There are very, very few people I've seen that have anything negative to say about it... and I feel sorry for them because they're missing out.
