Yes I remember that. But the way things go today on the net, there's a high chance it could be a rumor that can change by the hour. An official Konami announcement is the only way. These sites have posted rumors before.

You gotta figure,,, with the game engine already there the sequel shouldnt take THAT long to make right? I hope you play as Raiden and Solid Snake (up until his death)

I hope you know that the "SOLID" in "Metal Gear Solid" means 3D and not "Solid" Snake.

I have mixed feelings about this.

I'm excited about it and I hope it's for real but, at the same time, I would've wanted to see Kojima make something new. It'd be nice if he'd expand his horizons a bit.

MGS4 is missing that special touch from the first one...it's just not the same. I hope whatever they do with the next one will be a little more like the original even if Snake isn't the main character.gokuofheaven

Yeah I've known that since the development of MGS1, but after many years, especially how everything concludes in MGS4, it should just end there and bring out a new name to the franchise.

I thought that MGS4 would end the whole main series. This is a great find, but I think that it will be another spin-off. Just saying :DMechaPhantom

As crazy as this sounds I don't want another MGS game, I think Kojima did a great job wrapping it up and now to add things to it if its indeed a prequel seems contrite and just fan service and things ended so finitely with all the characters of MGS4 that a sequel wouldnt make much sense.

IDK i hope payton was wrong, I just want MGS to ride off into the sunset after going out on top.

Wow, it's funny how everyone is taking this as a confirmation? Like I said in a previous topic about this, I hardly see this as a confirmation. It seems he meant he'll miss working on MGS5 in the sense of the NEXT Metal Gear game. Besides I personally hate it when a series is dragged on for too long. Not to mention MGS4's ending brought complete closure to anyone who played the previous MGS games, there's no reason for a sequel or a prequel.anime_gamer007

You never know what Kojima is preparing or thinking and how this guy thinks man. The guy is a genius and he can manage himself with his games. Don't worry.

mgs2=against all expectations

Payton has even posted on neogaf saying he was'nt comfirming mgs5, he was just losely referering to an interview with kojima in an issue of famistu a couple of months back where kojima discusses the possibilty of mgs5 being made in the future. Anyone taking this a comformation of mgs5 being developed is blowing this way out of proportion.

If it is to be a prequel set between the events of MGS2 and MGS4 we could always play a small portion of the game with Snake much like we did in MGS2 on the Tanker. The interesting part would have to be, what would a sequel to MGS4 be like? If that secret ending that everybody was talking about turned out to be true then we might find out more about Snake's fate and if a sequel is a possibility. Seriously, Kojima could surprise us with anything.

Can't wait I'm already counting down the days. Solid Snake will have to be the main character since the game is called metal gear solid 5.

No matter what this secret ending is, I think the Solid Snake story is done. A prequel might work, but continuing on from where MGS4 left off would be pushing it a bit.
