MGS4 over rated, over hyped, over here..

Patience is the key to virtue

This game is definitely not for everyone. Its not all about running and gunning, it involves a little more tactical approach to the game. Stealth is the name of the game and you don't necessarily have to kill all your enemies. Too bad you didn't get the concept of the series or the game.

ill admit MGS4 wasnt the best mgs i played but it was still awesome. taking us back 2 shadow moses was a real trip down memory lane.

if u aint played 1,2 or 3 then theres no point playing this, no matter how many times u try 2 u will never fully get the story which is y its such an amazing series.

as you say, its not for everyone, shame some people have to knock people who dont like the same as themshottohell

MGS4 is actually for everyone, once you complete the game you'll understand that it has the superb shooting mechanics from third person shooters, it has the first person view which has been related to COD4 many times, it has the sneaking and stealth superior to splinter cell, it has the graphics and visuals better than Gears or FF, it has the plot and story better than any game on the market and can be compared to some of the top movies these days. All in all, MGS4 is the perfect gaming package however, the for the game to be enjoyed, a person requires the capacity. From understanding the plot which is very complicated however very epic as well, the boss fights are phenomenal, there are more weapons than any shooter on the market. If one puts sometime and thought into what Im playing, compare it to some other games in all aspects you can understand why MGS4 is a perfect score and Call of Duty is a 9.

I think you meant GTA4. That is overrated.

Really, I'd give GTA an 8.5, and I'd give MGS maybe a 9.5 or a 9.0. Both are, IMO, really good games, but neither are without their negatives. But I wouldn't say MGS is boring or ponderously slow (at least as it pertains to its genre -- if you're only into games like Unreal Tournament, you might think so), but I think it's overrated in the sense that it isn't perfect, but what is? lol.

Yes the enemies moves like robots from point A to B, so you can learn their patrol movement and you can pick the right time to make you move, with out them noticing you or knocking them out CQC with them ever seeing you.

Kojima give you the chance to play a bit of FPS style this time but i hope it never get more evolved than this ...

Everything in MGS4 serves the narrative. If you don't care about the narrative, you'll almost certainly think that they made terrible design and pacing choices. For a narrative centered game their choices with gameplay mechanics, pacing, art assets, sound design, etc all make perfect sense. For a purely action centered multiplayer game they're obvious mistakes. Good thing that MGS4 is a narrative centric primarily single player experience rather than a primarily action centered multiplayer one.

Complaining about how the story is boring you in MGS4 is kind of like complaining that the lack of character development is boring you in Doom 3. You've already missed the boat by a mile.

I knew this room was painted with gasoline paint when i walked in, only a matter of time before the flames ignite haha. I disagree that MGS4 is a more stealthy tactical game. I played through on Hard my first time and did alot of guns blazing type scenarios. I am more of the kill em all instead of do the stealth thing. I thought the M4 Custom with the right scope and a supressor allowed you to take out enemies from a decent distance and move through the game in the same manner as stealth kills

Now I am playing through it on Big Boss Extreme and am doing more of the sneaking/grabbing enemies and dragging them to a secluded area to kill them. I think it is way more fun to play that way.

MGS is not for everyone. I can totally understand why u like COD4 its a great game. It's just, unlike COD4, MGS is a game built more around infiltrating an area than actual combat. I personally have played and beat COD4, and i find it hard to play MGS because its more about being unseen than engaging in long, drawnout, and often entertaining firefights. However i have put MGS4 on hold and i am currently playing MGS 1 , 2 , and 3 and im now more used to the MGS style of play.

MGS is like Turn Based Strategy games. Some people love them, and some hate!

I've got Fire Emblem (for the Game Cube) it's awesome and it's one of my favorite games, but when i showed it to my friend, he just said a a big and loud BOOOOORING but i love it to the death.

Same goes for MGS. One of the reasons I love MGS is that you need to think a lot in order to don't get in trouble, and it has huge, awesome cutscenes. I completely love huge insanely awesome 40 minute cutscenes.

To me MGS4 is the best game i've played in my entire Life i am an MGS fan for life and i will always be, to me the game deserves the heaven not a 10/10 its simply and easily more than a masterpeice, its the lost ark of the last 40 years of life that this planet have's long live KOJIMA san !!! (and i dont even finished the game, im in the last act).

dude you got to be missing something here bro... its the most rediculously enthralling immersive game ive ever witnessed and im only talking about gameplay terms thus far sure the beggining is kinda slow but once u meet up with metal gear mark2(otacon)and drebin shortly after the game picks up alot and then after meeting the rat patrol (meryl,johhny sasaki/akiba and co.) the game picks up considerably and its by far the greatest game i ever played... with the choice of weapons and the insane ammount of unlockables and free downloadable content support (not factoring in briliant mgo) its just the most briliant game ever from the stunning visuals that eclipse anything before it and since so far... i must point out that i played all of the mgs games after i finaly played mgs2 and i could not get enough of any one of them i love an amazing story and perfect gameplay to back it up (prolly why im such a final fantasy die hard) lol but with mgs4 u get everything and then some! the perfect movements of snake and playing on the boss extreme and kicking ass in glorious hd never has been so much fun and just every bloody time you play esspecialy after beating the game and finding new routes new ways to kill mastering the special forces style cqc techniques i love that game beyond any other and im a huuuuge gamer haha at least in spirit to busy to be so serious these days but it makes me sad when people dont experiance or misinterpret mgs4 ground breaking gameplay and someone who doesnt like it just must hate shooting games or like......... has no patients at all and is a tad bit to slow to skip the cut scenes although you would be missing out on one of the greatest tales ever told... thats my 2 cents anyways i hope everyone continues enjoying the best game ever made! cheers!
