After seeing the E3 multiplayer trailer, I was extremely excited. I preordered it to get into the beta, and now I am extremely disappointed. Before everyone gets sensitive and starts saying "It's only a beta...FAIL!", realize that the game is only a few months away from release. I played the Bad Company 2 beta for both PS3 and 360, and though it had bugs, it was still a great game at heart. This is just avery mediocre game. All bugs and glitches aside, the choices DICE made were poor.
I cannot stress enough that gamers should be warned that this game has little to nothing in common with Bad Company 2, and is more like a poorly designed Modern Warfare 1. The guns have zero recoil, maps are small and cramped, headshots are extremely overpowered in relation to bodyshots being useless(reminds me of Metal Gear Online but worse), "fixed" weapon selection based on team is irritating, and hitmarkers are really flawed. Anything short of a headshot takes almost a full mag to kill.
I made it about 30 minutes before I went back to playing Bad Company 2 and Modern Warfare 2. And as I stated, these aren't BETA problems, the game just isn't very good. I hope the Campaign is great, because I am extremely disappointed. I will be cancelling my pre-order and waiting to see the very mediocre review scores this game will get if the multiplayer doesn't get a complete overhaul. DICE really let me down on this one. And I am really questioning those who actually like the BETA (EDIT : It's starting to get a little better as days pass, but still freezes often). I feel like they own neither BFBC2 or COD games. Or they just have blind allegiance to EA and DICE, because I went in with a very open mind, but this is just a mess (and yes, I did very well during the time I played, because I realized early on that headshots are the key to winning. It just got boring quick, so don't start the comments that I'm not very good at the game).
Just thought I would let people know that the trailer is very misleading based on this stage of the BETA. And I am focusing on design choices, not any bugs that will be fixed. My problems will most likely still be in the final version. I'm thinking this game gets a 7 tops, unless the campaign is amazing. And I'm not smiling while I say this, I'm frowning because I remember the glory days of MoH and was really looking forward to this title.
