Most Overrated Game of ALL Time goes to.....MGS4.

Terrible game. I tried to get into it but couldn't. I don't understand how it got 10's. Heck, I don't even understand how people can like that game. It's so slow paced and just BORING. Worst game I've ever played. And that's saying a lot. I've played probably over 10,000 games in my lifetime.ImBleedingLAWL

While I'll say it is by no means a bad game...I got to say it was way overrated, and 2 or 3 years of fanboys howling at the top of their lungs for it has made me actually hate it. It's not that good.
I swear all these people are just trying to take everyone else who didn't buy the game down with them. Like they can't admit to themselves that it really isn't that great.

To each his own...but overrated? Not by a longshot.

It doesn't take playing the other MGS's (I haven't) to see that its AAA game.

I'm not playing a video game to watch 8 hours of cheesy dialogue and laughable writing. The combat and stealth are atrocious too..

EDIT: I honestly don't understand all the praise for the MGS series. If you care to play actual stealth then get Thief 2.

I'll say that MGS4 is overrated but still a good game. The true masterpiece was MGS3. Everything from the boss fights to the story was much better in MGS3 than MGS4. I honestly forced myself to complete MGS4 and I never really had to force myself to beat a certain game.

Yes I have played them all too, MGS4 just didn't sit right with me and the entire game felt like a forced grind to me. I simply wanted to see it end once and for all, I couldn't even make it through the cut scenes after the umpteenth hour of Otacon's rambling. Most overrated? Absolutely!

It is, but the level grinding gets old. Especially with some things that force co-op play (where chances are, it's pretty useless outside of Japan and AdHoc party with a decent connection and people to actually play with)

I have to agree. MGS4 is by no means a bad game but i def didn't enjoy it as much as i did MGS 1-3. Those games were masterpieces. MGS4 is just a last hurrah and a way to end the story and i also felt that i had to force myself to finish. I would give MGS4 a 8.5-9.0 but def not a 10 and no way MGS4 is the GOAT as so many like to say.

People shouldn't really rate a game 10, i would say MGS4 is a solid 9, but 10 being solid gold/nearly impossible to find fault with, its hard to rate ANY game that good. So as mentioned above most games are overrated.

I was the same way, until I actually picked up my controller and beat the first few levels lol, I hated the look of it, then I played and it was pretty cool :P

Most overrated game is actually GTAIV. Blurry graphics, crappy gameplay (driving mostly), and bland story do not warrant a perfect 10. Just saying.MrSelf-Destruct

A good sequel should be accesable to newcomers as well as fresh for long-time fans. After playing MGS4, I had no interest in playing the previous three games. Oh and the first metal gear is complete garbage..

please people, you all seem to forget that MGS4 is a 2008 game . back then, it wasn't overrated, but I agree that you must have played previous games to get the most out of it, especially in Act 4 .

I still haven't got this. I've played the demo and it was all right. I'll pick it up soon.

Can't agree with this there are much more overatted games like Bioshock,Heavy Rain and Modern Warfare 2.

Might wanna change the title to Most hated Game of All Time, because its been about 2 and a half years and yet users like you STILL talk about it, and STILL hate one it. Its amazing how far MGS4 has been talked about in this forum! lol

I didn't like it either, but it is FAR from the most overrated game of all time.

I played MGS2 and 3 and that was enough to make me completely uninterested in MGS4. It's like some 7th grader tried to write a Tom Clancy novel.
