Its a masterpiece. You either have no patience, are under the age of 8 orr playing the game at a mental asylum (unlikely)
Terrible game. I tried to get into it but couldn't. I don't understand how it got 10's. Heck, I don't even understand how people can like that game. It's so slow paced and just BORING. Worst game I've ever played. And that's saying a lot. I've played probably over 10,000 games in my lifetime.ImBleedingLAWLCool story bro
While I'll say it is by no means a bad game...I got to say it was way overrated, and 2 or 3 years of fanboys howling at the top of their lungs for it has made me actually hate it. It's not that good.
I swear all these people are just trying to take everyone else who didn't buy the game down with them. Like they can't admit to themselves that it really isn't that great.

I'm not playing a video game to watch 8 hours of cheesy dialogue and laughable writing. The combat and stealth are atrocious too..
EDIT: I honestly don't understand all the praise for the MGS series. If you care to play actual stealth then get Thief 2.

Now watch nothing show up.:P Anyway you have obviously not played the previous MGS games. Only then can you truly understand why it is so slow! Because Hideo Kojima is crazy!:o
Lmao, your post made me laugh XD Yes, I do actually haha :) Nice post btw :DYou feel better now that you've "vented"?

I'll say that MGS4 is overrated but still a good game. The true masterpiece was MGS3. Everything from the boss fights to the story was much better in MGS3 than MGS4. I honestly forced myself to complete MGS4 and I never really had to force myself to beat a certain game.
MGS4 is a great game on its own, but it gets even better if you've played the other games in the series. Kinda like Peace Walker. It flew under the radar for a lot of people, but for me it was my GotY in 2010.Mrmccormo
Peace Walker is far too "grinding" for my liking...

Yes I have played them all too, MGS4 just didn't sit right with me and the entire game felt like a forced grind to me. I simply wanted to see it end once and for all, I couldn't even make it through the cut scenes after the umpteenth hour of Otacon's rambling. Most overrated? Absolutely!

To each their own. For MGS fans who want every shred of story, though, Peace Walker was jam-packed with info on the MGS universe. For that reason alone, I completed every last bit of that game.[QUOTE="Denji"][QUOTE="Mrmccormo"]MGS4 is a great game on its own, but it gets even better if you've played the other games in the series. Especially with some things that force co-op play (where chances are, it's pretty useless outside of Japan and AdHoc party with a decent connection and people to actually play with)
Things move along at such a slow pace. Even too slow for me...
I have to agree. MGS4 is by no means a bad game but i def didn't enjoy it as much as i did MGS 1-3. Those games were masterpieces. MGS4 is just a last hurrah and a way to end the story and i also felt that i had to force myself to finish. I would give MGS4 a 8.5-9.0 but def not a 10 and no way MGS4 is the GOAT as so many like to say.
You feel better now that you've "vented"?
Lmao, your post made me laugh XD Yes, I do actually haha :) Nice post btw :D Nice. I appreciate your sportsmanship. ;) Anyway, the main draw of MGS has always been the story telling and its not hard to believe that a lot of people just won't appreciate the way Hideo Kojima tells a story. Personally, I thought it was perfect aside from like two quick gameplay sequences, but thats because it was the masterful conclusion to my favorite franchise since the PS1 days. I can see how people who haven't played the original MGS games wouldn't really like it.It is, but the level grinding gets old. Even too slow for me...DenjiI've never once felt like a level had co-op "forced" upon it. I've completed every level by myself including the harder Red 5 Skull missions. Just out of curiosity, do you consider yourself a die-hard MGS fan? Because I gotta admit, Peace Walker isn't going to appeal to everyone and my own love for the series is what allowed me to tolerate the game's shortcomings.

Yes, but it doesn't blind me to blatant level grinding:P
People shouldn't really rate a game 10, i would say MGS4 is a solid 9, but 10 being solid gold/nearly impossible to find fault with, its hard to rate ANY game that good. So as mentioned above most games are overrated.

I was the same way, until I actually picked up my controller and beat the first few levels lol, I hated the look of it, then I played and it was pretty cool :P

Ocarina of Time deserved a 10 I would say.

Because if you aren't old enough to understand it then you obviously haven't been around very long..
Most overrated game is actually GTAIV. Blurry graphics, crappy gameplay (driving mostly), and bland story do not warrant a perfect 10. Just saying.MrSelf-Destructcompletely agree.. Its one of the worst games i've played this gen.. but i get why people like it still..
i would figure out of those 10,000 games you would've played the original metal gear and mgs games and would therefore know why the 4th one is awesome.
z4twenny
A good sequel should be accesable to newcomers as well as fresh for long-time fans. After playing MGS4, I had no interest in playing the previous three games. Oh and the first metal gear is complete garbage..

I hope you mean the original NES game then, and not MGS1 , which I enjoyed even more than MGS4 back in 1999 .

That's all I read from this.
Can't agree with this there are much more overatted games like Bioshock,Heavy Rain and Modern Warfare 2.
Might wanna change the title to Most hated Game of All Time, because its been about 2 and a half years and yet users like you STILL talk about it, and STILL hate one it. Its amazing how far MGS4 has been talked about in this forum! lol
