HELP can anyone tell me how to configure my ps3 running ydl to enter the password for my network. its not an account based system its a WEP encryption.
2. Is it really worth it to put it on the PS3, and if I decide to get rid of it, is it easy to take off?

1. take about 6 gb, but i recomend to have 10gb free before installing. 2. yes it's worth it, it's free, legal, and great, not sure how to get rid of it, but i know that there's some way.

I Don't have a dvd burner. will this work on a cd burner?

Yellow dog linux is too big for a CD. if you don't have a dvd burner, i reccomend to buy one because you will need it sooner or later. if you don't want to buy a dvd burner, you can get the DVD and CD from the YDL website for $100 or get it for like $10-15 from ebay.
Little Advice, DONT USE LINUX WITH AN SDTV! I cant even use it on my SDTV, so i just use it when i can on my bros HDTV, heres a link to some pics of YDL running on my PS3(tv is 27" LCD).
will this do anything to your ps3 in the long run,ie void warranty, virises,crash it,if i do this will it make my ps3 like a computer?play videos n such,is there anything negitive?

sony designed the ps3 to work with yellow dog linux, it won't void the warrenty, yes it makes your ps3 just like a pc!
nice thanks i will try it out i'm not computer savy but im pretty literate is it hard to do for an average computer user to install?and can my ps3 get virisus or addwh=are spyware n such from it?

theres no probs with an SDTV, but its REALLY hard to read text and the picture is REALLY messed up. You can use it on SDTV, it just looks really really bad compared to SD, and i defend playing PS3 games on SDTV to the nines!

yes you can install softwareware on linux. besides e-mail, you can surf the internet, it also has office like programs built-in. it has something like word, powerpoint, and excel. it has lots of other pre-installed software, just install it and see :)

In the worst case, if anything happend give it to sony and they'll fix it.

yes they SHOULD work, but if they don't just use a keyboard/mouse that uses RF wirelss. on the YDL website, it says that YDL is capable of accessing the ps3's bluetooth devices. see, the thing is that there are to ways of connecting a bluetoot keyboard to a ps3. 1. throgh the bluetooth receivers that are inside the ps3. 2. through the bluetooth recievers that are on a usb thing and connect that usb to the front of the ps3.
how do i dowmload the first part to my pc.i dont know it keeps opening it up in the windows media player saying that it dosent support the file im iliterate a little at computers i cant get past the first step,do i need to download something to be able to install thi program?please help,im stuck on the first step and im using a dvr as my storage space?!

you didnt break your PS3 you copied the ISO wrong. Go to nero.com and get the trial of nero 7. Then go to data dvd and go to the ISO/UDF under it. If you dont know what any of that is, i suggest you dont bother installing Linux any further and just type in the kboot command "boot-game-os" , that takes you to the XMB and reformat the Hard Drive if you think Linux s too hard.
i've been having trouble, when i install everything and stuff. and when i boot it the first time it checks al this stuff and it says [ok] beside them but when it gets to system logger, it says [failed] i thought it was normal so i continue, and the localhostlogin prompt comes up, i type root and in the password thing, when i type nothing shows up. but i still put my password and it says logged in, now im supposed to get a bash rpompt but it wont come out. it just says @localhost or something.
you NEED to request a sticky dude, tell a mod, and i wanna know if ya can put it on HDD also like crazy said???Mr_Prezident
download the file and see ;) Its its a .exe file it should have no problem being installed via an external HDD. if its an ISO image then it would be harder and the easy way out would be DVD.
