who told you that?? Maybe the concept is gonna be the same as the update... it doesn't seem to unlikely.

just watch the GDC presentation, where Harrison talks about what he think Game 3.0 is.  Has nothing to do with an update. 

However, those are the things that "clever" marketing people like to play with.  Perhaps the wide beta incarnation of Home is 2.0, but the 'real' incarnation is 3.0. 

Dude, I just got update 9.7, you guys are way behind.  We just got this new program, growing@nursing homes, it lets my PS3 turn into a small forest when I take it into a nursing home, creating oxygen, thus eliminating the need for oxygen tanks.

I got it too .... It's very great ! .... When you leave the growing@nursing Home running during the day you will not go to see a doctor anymore !!! There is also a something added in the NETWORK . PLAYSTATION@Live you will not going to send messages anymore to friends . it is a chat place .. you can talk to friends in the same time . you can create a privte rooms !!!!!

Some stuff I got from the update that I did not see on the 1.8 list:

• Support for a printer function has beed added under [Photo]
• Support for zoom and trimming has been added under [Photo]
• A new type of slideshow has beed added as a feature under [Photo]

I do believe the rest is already in the 1.8 post.

Ok, I got the update and I'm not seeing this upscaled dvd or ps2 playback.  I went into settings tried normal, double, full, etc and none of those made the output resolution higher than 480p.  My tv is capable of 1080i, i'm using componant and it plays bd's and ps3 games at that resolution.  However no matter what settigns I've tried the image looks no better than it did previously.  I've compared it to off and it really does look the same. 

I understand resolutions and rendering output settings etc.  However this has me stumped.   Any ideas?

ofcourse its true, you can't upscale over component because its illegal.  the only way to upscale over component is to use a hack, dont know of any for the ps3, but several stand alone dvd players can upscale over component if hacked.

When playing copyright-protected DVD content such as the content on commercially available DVD-Video, an HDMI cable is required to upscale the video content.

pretty much component is worthless

my question: i have component now and i wanted to know if dvi to hmdi would fix the situation.

Sorry guys but I dont see a difference in the upscaling, I think it actually makes standard discs look worse, to me it looks better off, all the other display updates help though.

Then again maybe it's the way I have something set, The problem is in HD resolutions standard DVDs look dark, it probably is the Full RGB but I dont wanna change that because my games look alot better with it so im gonna try turning off the "Super-White" option instead, to see if it does anything.

Well, I have a better picture now upscaling DVDs, I guess that's what it was.

PS2 games look best with upscale off though, the smoother does however work good.

So what's up with the network problem which cuased the wireless to go crazy? I was waiting for that to be solved before dowmloading the thing... Is there a solution for that, should I download the update?antifener89

I just watched Kill Bill with the new update and, good lord, it looked beautiful! Thank you Sony! 

I'm also happy that I no longer have to use the "fill screen" option on my TV when watching regular DVDs on my PS3.

Not all HDTV's can use full RGB read my new final version of 1.80 I cleaned it up.. A LOT.
