I'd go with demon's souls, but prototype was fairly fun. I wasn't as big of a fan of inFamous (It's hard for me to enjoy sandbox type games), and I've been skeptical on buying killzone 2 (not a huge shooter fan) but I'll be getting killzone 2 within the next 2 weeks so that may change my decision. But I've never liked a game as much as I have demon's souls.

You really like Demon's Souls, don't ya? I have really tried to get into it, but I just can't. I mean, it's nice to see a really hardcore game, but I can't play the game for longer than 30 minutes. Something about the mood and look of it.
[QUOTE="Nephilim83"]Like i said, dude. Unrealistic detail and awesome water. The character models still need some work. When you're actually playing the game it still feels like an everyday FPS to me. Anyway, I never implied that anyone should sale their consoles or stop playing vintage games. i simply said that graphics ARE important, and for a very good reason. Crysis is a good example. Withouth the graphics it'd just be another spin of the FPS genre, and wouldn't have gotten nearly as much attention as it did. You're just going the great lengths for the sake of argument.BioShockOwnz
Show me one in-game screen of a character model for a game on current generation consoles that looks that good. It can't be a cutscene, either. It has to be in-game, much like my screen.
And no, Crysis is a great game beyond its visuals. You'll see when Crysis 2 comes to consoles, cause it won't be able to fall back on its graphics. ;)
Wow, that was hard. :P This is in game Left4Dead. Obviously he doesn't have as much crazy detail as the korean from Krysis, but he looks more realistic. That crazy detail isn't realistic, cause with the naked eye you couldn't actually see all the threads in a person's jacket out in the bright sun. Anyway, I did think Crysis and Crysis: Warhead (my personal favorite of the two) were both great games, but I liked tons of other games just as much and some a lot more. KZ2 to me was much more immersive.[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]

And notice the flat hair textures, the collar of the shirt, the jacket cutting into his arm.
That model is far inferior to anything seen in Crysis, even as a PC screen.
Immersive =/= graphically superior, though. I found Ico, SotC, Deus Ex, System Shock 2, and many other games to be more immersive than any games out there today, and they're all dated.

It's pretty amazing, and not like any other game I've played. It seemed to do the opposite of what games are doing now adays and actually taking a chance with something original. The story line (once you figure it out) is amazing! and I REALLY enjoy games that are difficult. It's the type of game that when you first play it and say, why is this so difficult? then you realize other people have beaten it more times over than you have once. Just that factor alone sucks me in and makes me want to get good at it. I'm in new game+++++ now at level 131 and I STILL want to keep playing.
Each NPC in the game had such an intense story revolving around boletaria and the nexus, and the ending of the game was phenomenal (both endings). there's SO many different unique weapons, a lot of cool looking armor, and the magic system (although overpowered) fits in perfectly.
Lastly, the player vs player aspect of the game is AWESOME especially for being on consoles. It feels as intense as arena WoW pvp was, but puts it on consoles, and often times results in 1on1s, 1on2s, 1on3s, or 2on3s. It's a truly unique and amazing title. It was actually so good that it sold out everywhere, the price got jacked up to 70-90 bucks, and it's on backorder in so many places from importing that atlus decided to bring it to the U.S. when originally, from software intended on being a Japan-only release.
KZ2 is the only one I've played so I voted for that >.<
[QUOTE="TormentedHero"]Killzone 2 is the best game so far, It has a great offline campaign mode and a great online mode too.Hot-Tamale
word. They need to fix the control responsiveness, though.
Already did it lol.[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]

I really need to try to get into it. I think it's going to be one of those games I don't like at first, but as time goes on it starts to grab me. I've had that happen a few times. I hope it happens here.

Haha! You're impossible! Who said this was a console argument? I thought we were just talking about character models? That korean looks like he has downs syndrome. The pic I submitted looks a lot more realistic and a lot better IMO. Who cares if his hair is flat? Its a buzz cut! His jacket cuts into his arm? So, that's still a pretty realistic looking arm. I'm sure if you search enough you'd find a glitch shot of some Crysis characters. I know the sure as heck moved funny. Anyway, Immersive =/= graphically superior. Agreed. However, graphically more realistic = more immersive. Here's another one for ya just to see how you'll pick it apart:It's between Prototype and RFG for me.
inFAMOUS and Bionic Commando a bit behind those.
Yeah, RFG its suprisingly fun. I didn't care for the demo the first time around, but after giving it a few shots I decided to rent it. Wow. And how is Damnation? It got a 3.5. I never knew a game could actually do that bad. I was gonna check it out, but now I'm a bit iffy. lol Haven't you ever seen the Big Rigs review? 1.0Haha! You're impossible! Well, it's just a fact. The Source engine is a very old engine, and even though it's quite scalable, it just can't touch CryEngine 2. Well unless you use mods:
-
The pic you submitted really doesn't look a lot more realistic at all. The graphical inconsistencies in the model is quite glaring, as I pointed out in the previous post. Those Helghast soldiers are also technically inferior to what I had posted. Not only are the coats they're wearing poorly textured and detailed, which is hard to see with all the damn filters and lighting effects they've got in place, but they also have masks, so that plays a large role, as they don't have to detail the character as much with animations and polys. You can tell when you pop their helmets off in the game.
Not many other people seem to think RE5 was the best game this year.
ColdP1zza
I agree RE5 is one of the highlights of 2009 and with 6 million copies sold in 3 months is amazing good news and I dont think InFamous will sell that well in less than 3 months.
But InFamous is just overwhleming... :D
Prototype is NOT good. It's decent at best. It basically like playing The Incredible Hulk except it has a generic, predictable story. The game has various flaws that nobody seems to notice. It is the second game EVER that I have returned because I simply couldn't stand it anymore. As far as the best game to come out this year, I really don't even know. All the 'good' games have disappointed me in some way. If I'd have to chose though, I'd pick the Uncharted 2 Beta.
That's all strongly opinion, just because you have a different taste in games than most of us doesn't mean every game you couldn't get into is a failure. The closest thing to fact we have on this board is that 3 of those gammes you say suck are actually pretty great. take a better look at your poll.ok heres a good breakdown
prototype-amazing
kz2-online got so boring....collecting dust on my shelf
re5-...not like the rest of them...way overhyped
infamous-sucks....feel like im playing x men orgins
