I don't care how good the games are, a game with a single mode isn't worth the same as another one with more. They should be broken down into this: singleplayer, multiplayer and singleplayer/multiplayer.

Then, there is also games annually released such as sports titles. Though, I don't see the reason why people would buy the same sport each year as there is no big difference from to another.

Call of Duty is different, one is Infinity Ward and the other is Treyarch. But, combined, they equal milking. It's not better now with Sledgehammer.

But it's better than a few years ago when PS2 games would sell for 80$ not counting taxes.

its not.. and anyone who remembers the cartridge days will agree with me... and considering the time it takes to make a game these days paying up to and over 100 people salary for 2 - 5 years without any profit its not to much to ask 70 dollars for a game...PoisoN_Facecam0
I agree games have always ran for the price they are going for today, gamers are even young and just can't remember this that well.

Here in Canada, Xbox exclusives=$69.99 Multiplats=$69.99 but PS3 exclusives=$59.99 so it's $10 cheaper than all other games, the price for games hasn't fluctuated much and games are improving extremely fast, just three years ago Uncharted 1 released, two years later Uncharted 2 is released and Uncharted 1 looks like a PS2 game when compared to Uncharted 2. Both were $59.99 when they first came out.

Its no different to buying the latest shooter, and is probably even cheaper cause there is generally only ever one of the sports game released once a year. Yet a new shooter is released every month nearly.....

Maybe this should be a blog post , but i'll post it here . 70 bucks for a game is too much . A blu-ray costs 30 bucks . A PS3 game should be 40 quids . Sales of consoles AND software would rise skyhigh . I know games are expensive to make , but70 bucks is just too much . Discuss....

Aww how sad. Come to Australia where its $120 then. Don't say "exchange rate" as well. >.>

It's astonishing to see how many differences there are from region to region . Anyway now that "on the disc downloadable content" is getting more and more common, prices should go down for the standard game .

It's absolutely too much. But that's why I buy used and not when a game comes out on day1. Let the suckers desperate for any new game to come out buy it, then beat it and sell it within a week. Then when the prices drop to 30 and below I'll consider picking it up. See, it's really only a problem for people who need a day1 game.

70 quid, probably. All the people whining about $60 in America, no that's not to much. Do some research.

I agree 70 bucks is to much but you can find games much cheaper. I have a select couple of great sites where new games cost only 45 euros.

I don't know about other countries, but games in the US drop price so fast it's not even funny. Literally a day or two after RDR released Amazon and another site were selling it for 50 bucks. God of War can be had for 40 bucks new just a couple months after its release as well. Heck, Gamestop was selling it for TWENTY for a short while at one point. The starting point may be high, but a little patience can save you 10-30 bucks a short while after a game's release.

60$ is the average "New" game price in america, 5$ more if you would like to pre-order it. I have always been fine with 60$, but if you want it cheaper some stores sell "New" games 7-8 dollers less.

The United Kingdom is like that as well. Prices drop fast here, this being one of the reasons as to why gamers from other parts of the European Union import games from here. The price difference can be massive, namely €10 to €20 per game, sometimes more, sometimes less. Even a high launch price is still approximately €15 less than in the rest of the European Union.

Back in the cartridge days some games were $70-$80 US Killer Instinct for SNES brand new had the price of $80. N64 games were around $70 all the time. I remember when $40 was the greatest hits price tag. Games are pricy but they are cheaper today then they were ten to 15 years ago. You just have to buy games that will give you the most play time.

Games do drop rather fast in US. Demon's souls is now $40 new, I might pick it up sometime in the near future. Infamous in $30 and that game was not even out a year. I still don't know why tools of destruction took so long to drop in price. Hopefully Ratchet a crack in time becomes a greatest hit soon. That game sold ok, but they should mark it down to get more sales for it.

A majority of games aren't worth the full price. I find myself waiting for price drops and stuff before I buy many of my games.

I agree . The last full price games I bought were Read Dead Redemption and Dragon Age Origins last year . Bought a lot of good low price games though . Game that surprised me the most was Dirt 2 . It's such a fantastic game I just overlooked ...
