has no one played resident evil 4? I mean the control scheme is the exact same. This isn't gears of war 5. Its not a run and gun shooter. If you don't like the game that's fine but the millions of people who buy and love the game will surely disagree with you. I think the controls are great. It adds to the suspense when you have to stop to fight. Resident Evil 1-3 didn't even have half of the mobility in this game, and resident evil 2 is considered one of the greatest games of all time.whodeysay85I hated RE4...

Ummm seriously its the same basic controls as like almost all the RE games in the series. If u a noob to series, and u been playing most of the run and gun games out I can understand how the controls are gonna be blah to u. Vets of the series arent gonna have a problem with them.
you guys do know that there are other control layouts in the demo that work rather well.cristoefur
yeah but you still cant run and shoot. Its so dumb when you have your knife out and you have to wait for them to get close to slice them
Didn't your mother ever teach you not to run with sharp objects? Apparently Chris' did.wait why when you use the knife would they not let you run or even move ?damned if a bunch a zombies chasing me and all i have is a knife,i would stay in one place slashing it doesnt make since

Its quite simple. If you played RE4 and didn't like the controls then you aren't going to like these.whodeysay85
It's weird for me...
I played RE4 and quickly got into the controls but not here in RE5 demo. I deleted the demo file after trying the two stages available.
first off, i'm a huge fan of the series. re2 and re4 are my two faves. even then the re5 control scheme is terrible. after playing deadspace and the many many other 3rd person shooters for the ps3.. how could capcom disable "MOVE AND SHOOT"? compare to what's already out there i'm quite disappointed. i could understand this happening if we're in sniper mode with a sniper rifle.. but it's a handgun and knife. sad thing is capcom will lose a lot of the new-gen gamers because of this.
Anyone else find the controls for RE5 infuriating? :evil:Tony2519Noy even slightly, it's a tweaked Resi 4 what did you expect?

It's a tweaked Resi 4 control scheme and i loved the demo, co-op with someone who knows what they are doing is awesome.
Its funny how the same people that says they are happy the game "evolved" into what it is today (a "Run n' Gun game), its the same people defending the outdated gameplay. After playing Dead Space, the RE5 gameplay should be AT LEAST like that.
And no, RE4 and 5 are not survival-horror games, there is no "horror" element involved in the game anymore, and this game is as survival as a generic 3rd person shooter, just trying to not get hit doesnt make a game survival.
Since RE4 I cant count on CAPCOM to deliver a Survival-horror game, i know that this kind of games sells better since its more "casual player" friendly, you can just pic up this game and have a good time, and i dont expect they change that.
By no means i say they are bad games, im pretty sure a LOT of people will like it.
But i will keep my hopes up for the Survival-Horror genere, Dead Space is a step in the right direction, new gameplay, horror elements, survival aspects......... i feel like DS is for this time what the old resident evil titles where for its time...
(Oh yeah, and for the people that says RE4 and 5 are not "REAL" Resident evil games, well, they are... thats why they are called RE... maybe they dont feel the same, but the sad truth is that they are....)
What did you expect? It was the exact same control set up used in the last game, what's so hard about it? It's not designed to be a shooter. There isn't a single survival horror game that I can honestly say has smooth controls so I don't know what any of you were expecting. Silent-Hal
Dead Space has a very smooth controls in general, and compared to RE5... its godlike... so CAPCOM CAN implement better controls, they are just too lazy to do it. (Come on, EA sucks 99.99% of the times, i hate them, but i love CAPCOM, if EA can do it, CAPCOM can do it a 100 times better if they try)
And RE5 its not a survival-horror game, because its so inclined to action, it should have better control.
Um its a Resident Evil game. Part of the games are the hard as heck frustrating controls. Once you get used to them they are great though.
BTW there are like 4 different control schemes pick one
acsguitar
And it shouldnt, having frustrating controls should NEVER be the rule (or motive of pride) just because tradition, this is where games should be trying to improve more and more each time. And the control schemes could be 1 million if they like, because its not about the buttons, its about the whole feeling of the game, being clunky in controls can not be remediated by changing only the fire button or run button toother function.
Well i am a vet of the series and shooting and not moving doesnot add susspense it pisses you off because your charcter though a trained officer and special unit person can not bring themeselves to even twictch while shooting let alone while reloading this needed to be fixed from day one or the second game or whatever you could shoot and move fine on deadspace and that game is ten times scarier in the first minute than the whole re seriessgt-hawkins
Agreed

I think a good number of ppl were hoping for updated controls, myself included. Capcom really should have taken a page from EA on Deadspace's controls.
