I see this all the time. People with 20+ Platinums and beyond. In the end, yes it's only for bragging rights but the first thing I do is see WHAT Platinums they have and THESE are the ones that ALWAYS come up:
- Hannah Montana
- Terminator Salvation
- UP
- Monsters Vs Aliens
- X-men Origins: Wolverine
- and more...
I find it kind of disingenuous in a competitive sense. I say quality over quantity. I'd rather have 10 Platinums on games I really like than 30 on games I don't.
So what's your guys' take? Personally the only games I put that much time into are the ones I really like. The worst game I have a Platinum for is Wanted: Weapons of Fate, but I actually enjoyed the demo for the game as well as the Wanted movie before it.
So is it lame to Platinum bad / easy games? And to make this a two-part question: What's the worst game YOU have trophies for?
Phacet
Whoah, hold up just cos you don't like these games doesn't mean others don't.
Terminator wasn't the greatest thing out there, but i enjoyed all of it while i played. there's been plenty of positive things said about x-origins everywhere. Wanted is a cool game, too. I can't speak for the kids' games but why act like tere aren't ppl out there that enjoy that stuff...
Sounds like critics' reviews decide your opinion on games, which is all wrong.
I own Wanted: Weapons of Fate and enjoyed it. That game got a 6.0 on this site. Considering how people consider any game under a 7.5 on this site to be some sort of abject failure, I don't think I necessarily agree with all reviews I see. Modern Warfare 2 was highly critically acclaimed. In my mind? It's AA at best.
I played the demo for UP. INCREDIBLY boring. Yes, I know it's a kid's game, but kid's games USED to be good. Remember Aladdin and The Lion King for SNES / Genesis? Those games were great! I liked the demo for Mini Ninjas and I don't think that got higher than a 7.0 here.
My point wasn't "I think these games are terrible and you should agree with me." My point was padding your stats by playing games you probably otherwise wouldn't play if you didn't know that you couldn't complete them in one sitting is lame. Going for Platinums is fine. I like the sense of completion and the replay value it instills. But again, if the game sucks or I didn't like it a lot, I'm not gonna bother. Wolfenstein was a decent game that kinda flew under the radar. It was decent, but I don't picture myself putting the time in for a Platinum. It would feel like a chore.
In short, as long as you're playing games for the sake of playing games, great! But your trophy count should be indicative of the games you love, NOT how you have more than the next guy.
