I see this all the time. People with 20+ Platinums and beyond. In the end, yes it's only for bragging rights but the first thing I do is see WHAT Platinums they have and THESE are the ones that ALWAYS come up:

 • Hannah Montana
 • Terminator Salvation
 • UP
 • Monsters Vs Aliens
 • X-men Origins: Wolverine
 • and more...

I find it kind of disingenuous in a competitive sense. I say quality over quantity. I'd rather have 10 Platinums on games I really like than 30 on games I don't.

So what's your guys' take? Personally the only games I put that much time into are the ones I really like. The worst game I have a Platinum for is Wanted: Weapons of Fate, but I actually enjoyed the demo for the game as well as the Wanted movie before it.

So is it lame to Platinum bad / easy games? And to make this a two-part question: What's the worst game YOU have trophies for?

Haha, yeah. I loved Bioshock. It's only my list to Plat next. I'm on my Survivor playthough, but I'm not very far in. I made it intentionally harder by turning up the sensitivity and turning off auto-aim.

I don't need much more to Platinum Burnout Paradise, which is also an awesome game. I also need to get back to work on Killzone 2. Too busy playing Bad Company 2. :)

My Platinums are: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Fallout 3, inFamous, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and Wanted: Weapons of Fate.

I understand what it feels like getting platinums, and it's great, but playing games you don't like for them is just... work. But then again, that depends on the player. Some people love getting platinums and some people love getting 100% in their favorite game.

It's in no way cheap because they're still completing the objectives laid down by the developer, but in the end it's their satisfaction - they're just collecting.

Trophies are just one of those things where you have to ask yourself, "quality or quantity?"

Not terrible, no. For a movie based game it's solid. Granted, I only played the demo, but it was fun for what it was. I've just heard that game, much like Terminator Salvation, is relatively easy to Platinum.

I admit that I like getting trophies. However, what I care about more is getting a game's trophies to 100% rather than getting a platinum or not. I never buy games for the sake of trophies, though, personal interest always comes first in determining which games to buy. I know some people who totally avoid games that they are afraid they will never be able to platinum, which is really lame in my opinion. Who's going to look back on their gaming days and say they had the better time? The person who is obsessed with trophies, or the person who enjoyed the games for what they were? The second person, every time.

Edit: The worst game I have trophies for is LOTR: Conquest. I admit, being a huge LOTR fan is probably the only thing that made that game bearable to play. Otherwise, it was a major disappointment. The online trophies were EXTREMELY annoying. Not to mention now anyone who buys the game won't be able to get the platinum, since EA is discontinuing the servers for the game. Pretty sad that a game's servers only last a year before they are shut down.

I do prefer quality over quantity.

All my platinums are of games I really enjoyed playing: Uncharted 1 and 2, Batman, Prince of Persia, star Wars SFU Sith Edition and InFamous.

Uncharted 1 and 2 - Good, solid games.

Batman - Probably the best of the lot here.

Prince - Because I'm simply a fool for Prince of Persia games... and I really enjoyed the gameplay, though I think it kinda lacks in the difficulty area (It's too noob friendly...)

Star Wars - Damn, Fight as Lord Vader... it was already worth just for this...
But later fighting against Lord Vader... was also damn cool...
InFamous - Being given the choice to be really evil... I kinda missed this freedom to be either good or evil since KOTOR...

Some trophies are actually hard. I have the plat and I can remember there being some hard ones. Some of the games you listed aren't bad, it all depends on the person. If there is a trophy whore who does it, then yeah it's kinda lame, but if you have a 2 year old son that played the game, might as well go for the platinum.

No, if people enjoy platinuming them, more power to them. It's not unfair or anything, it's fair game to everyone.

I try to platinum the games i play, i dont play games just for platinums. I do have platinum trophies for a few easy games like "Terminator Salvation" but that was because i have a LOVEfilm account. So i try to rent as many games as possible to get my money's worth. No harm in that, i say let people play what they want. Who cares if someone plays games just for trophies (I dont agree with it though) it does not affect you in anyway.

I know friends who rent games to platinum them. Terminator Salvation for example.

I just laugh at them. I only have two and i don't think that'll change for a while. Trophies kinda spoiled gaming for me for a little while now i just play it at my own pace and try to enjoy the game. Although Fallout 3 was much more rewarding because most of those trophies were for side quests that otherwise didn't need to be completed but still added alot to the backstory and the wasteland.

I don't have any plats atm, yet I don't really care what people do with their games. If someone wants to waste their time and most likely money getting a pretty worthless reward for completing a bad game, be my guest. Heck if I see those sorta people with their only 5 plats from crappy movie-tie in games, I just laugh.

Yes its lame and I have very little respect for people with those platinums. Sure you might have more trophies than other people, but you didn't work hard for them.

It's funny you mention this because the only plat I have is from Terminator Salvation and oh how much did that game suck. My time is so limited these days to play games that right now I won't even touch the bad games just for an easy trophy. I'd rather spend the little time I have trying to get the trophies from the games that do deserve to be played :)

Yeah, that's my point. People pad their stats with crappy or really easy games. I only Platinum games I love because those are the only ones I like playing that much. You could patch Assassin's Creed for trophies and I STILL wouldn't want to play it. :P

I just think it's funny to see someone with a whole bunch of Platinums and find out more than half are for kids games that they wouldn't otherwise play.

I think the guy that's #3 right now on the PSN leaderboards has almost as many as that Hakoom guy, but less "nooby" Plats so I can respect that. Granted, he has the Hannah Montana Platinum, but he also has the Platinum for BOTH versions of Demon's Souls.

Pretty much my point, haha.

Sidenote: Undertaker rules! Pre-biker Taker, that is. Haha, he was one of my favorites back when I still watched wrestling along with Bret "The Hitman" Hart and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.

gaming in general is of an individuals enjoyment. I don't give 2 craps what anyone is playing or what people think about the games I am playing that being said. I think it is even sadder that so many have any opinion about what others are doing with their free time and gaming console.

There is nothing sadder than someone trying to justify their life by putting down an aspect of another's life

my 2 cents

It is called having kids, nieces and nephews that play kiddie games when they come over. And again I don't care what people, I will never meet, think about my gaming. My point is why you have an opinion on what other people are doing with their hobby.

You look at any hobby and you can say the same thing about anything if you look long enough.

As for the 4 games you saw:

I bought Terminator Salvation because I liked what I saw in the previews but was fooled on how bad the game was. beat it returned it

Wolverine is a great game and I still play it to this day and I actually enjoyed the movie which I also own

Up & Monsters vs ALiens, my niece and nephew loved the movies so I have kiddie games that they can play when they come over. Since I do not like less than 100% I finished off the game.

I have not played Hannah Montana. Even though my niece loves her show if she wanted to play the game then guess what, you would see it under my profile.

My new mantra is to get over 50% on all the games I'm playing.

Truly, there is no greater trophy/achievement feeling than the ding of a platinum.

I pity the fool who tries for a Demon's Souls platinum... 40 hours clocked, 16%...

Sounds like critics' reviews decide your opinion on games, which is all wrong.

To me it seems a bit lame that you do, because you fit the term 'trophy whore'. You don't do it for fun, but for other reasons. But as Scianix said, some people's definition of fun is different, so what ever you want I guess.

The games I platinum are the ones I have lots of fun with, I have Sega Genesis Collection (Easy plat, but me and the genesis go back.) Uncharted 1 and 2, WAW, MW2 and Fallout 3.

in my opinion going for a platinum in a game gives you the "full experience" so if you want to get that for something you don't enjoy then thats your problem. and thats the truth a platinum takes time(30 to 50 hours for most of mine) and if you are willing to devote time to something shouldn't it be something you enjoy???

there always people who will be hoarders and measure their ego with their trophy collection but that doesn't really matter since i don't really look at other peoples trophies except to check their progress in a game( has he beaten boss XXX yet?).

A platinum is only worth getting f its something you can be proud about f it comes up.

Sounds like critics' reviews decide your opinion on games, which is all wrong.

I own Wanted: Weapons of Fate and enjoyed it. That game got a 6.0 on this site. Considering how people consider any game under a 7.5 on this site to be some sort of abject failure, I don't think I necessarily agree with all reviews I see. Modern Warfare 2 was highly critically acclaimed. In my mind? It's AA at best.

I played the demo for UP. INCREDIBLY boring. Yes, I know it's a kid's game, but kid's games USED to be good. Remember Aladdin and The Lion King for SNES / Genesis? Those games were great! I liked the demo for Mini Ninjas and I don't think that got higher than a 7.0 here.

My point wasn't "I think these games are terrible and you should agree with me." My point was padding your stats by playing games you probably otherwise wouldn't play if you didn't know that you couldn't complete them in one sitting is lame. Going for Platinums is fine. I like the sense of completion and the replay value it instills. But again, if the game sucks or I didn't like it a lot, I'm not gonna bother. Wolfenstein was a decent game that kinda flew under the radar. It was decent, but I don't picture myself putting the time in for a Platinum. It would feel like a chore.

In short, as long as you're playing games for the sake of playing games, great! But your trophy count should be indicative of the games you love, NOT how you have more than the next guy.

Thank you for getting my point. :)

I think some of the people in this thread think I'm trying to be an elitist. On the contrary, I just dislike people that ARE elitists about their stats that pad it out by doing something easy. If you want to be a braggart, fine...but back it up.

The only game that I regret having platinumed is Alone in the Dark.It was not very good, but I liked the old series so I thought I would try it. I had fun with each of my other platinums, including Wolverine. I think that the biggest mistake that a person can make is playing bad games just for trophies or not playing great games because the trophies are difficult. In the end, no one really cares about your trophy level.

Believe it or not X-Men Origins: Wolverine isn't a terrible game.

I play games I like the look of, if it has trophies, why not trying to get them all, even if the game does turn out bad

If you like the game platinum it, if you don't like the game don't platinum it, if you want more trophies and ran out of games you like then platinun games you don't like. Platinuming some of the games mentioned isn't lame just desperate for trophies because I cant see much people actually liking them games haha.

the fact that most people describe it as "work" or "working" to get trophies/achieviements says it all.

fair enough on games you love butstruggling throughbad games and "working"on them to get trophies/achieviements is pretty sad.

Some people look beyond a bad game and think getting the plat is the fun part.

Beat me down but i plat Hanna Montana while my wife was laughing at me. In the end It felt good to have a plat in 4 hours. Even if everyone laughs at me......

True if you give a limp noodle for Miley or Hanna the game will test your powers.

I have one platinum and that's for Burnout Paradise. I see it as this, and probably like a few others here. If you're willing to go out of you're way to get a platinum on a "bad" game, go ahead, I could care less. What other people find annoying or uninteresting, others find enjoyment or fulfillment.

I don't play games I dislike just because it has trophies, I've only unlocked 3-4 trophies in Resistance 2 and I haven't played it since because I just didn't like it.

I think it's completely lame to play games you hate just because you want the trophies.

I have 9 platinums right now, I'm hoping to get Far Cry 2 next because I'm really enjoying it. xD

See now that I just don't understand, the entire point of the trophy system is so other people can view them and compare it with their own..you're not going to get any respect from ANYONE by playing a game like Hannah Montana just because it's an easy platinum.

I think it's pretty sad when people play games that they don't like - and play them enough to get a platinum trophy - just for the sake of their trophy count. And when they're platinuming Hannah Montana, you know perfectly well that their other trophies were gotten by playing on super-easy mode, reading every cheat on the internet, cutting every corner and making a joke out of the whole "gameplay" experience.
