what no im game music just because 360 owns the patent. that stinks now my hate towards M$ is growing:evil:
All the companies have to do is make a custom soundtrack like in mlb 08 and everything is fine. i do not see what the big deal is over in game music just crank up your stereo system, games were not meant to be blared over by music.BlackIce2007
Don't know if u have a xbox 360 or not but playing the music u have installed on your system on your surround system or tv speakers works out well compared to dealing with a stereo or computer or whatever else u might have playing music.

DarkBloodPrince
WOW i didnt know microsoft could do that! that sucks because i dont use it too much on xbox but i was looking forward to using music in unreal tournament 3 on ps3 :(
darkbloodprince thats a nice sig but in game music is something i want and M$ cant patent something like that its like saying patent a really cool game so noone else can have it its just weird. the console wars will probably be fought with patents nowjojothekid
Thanks jojothekid you sig cool too flamdramon rocks anyways is there anyway sony could find a loop hole
i dont care about ingame music when i had my 360 i played ingame music once and then i found it useless i found wut the game offered to be much better so i could care less about ingame music i think the reason most people want it is because 360 has it so we can say were equal we dont need in game music imo.hnic7466
well i only use it when i play online and racing games on my 360. And like i said in an earlier post its very convient having it on one device versuses playing on a console then changing volumes, songs, playlist, etc. on another device.
In game music/custom soundtrack is such a waste of time, could you imagine something stupid like Nickleback or 50 cent playing instead of MGS4's epic score. Get over it people, I think the only thing I ever used this for was to play Metallica as the warm up music for NHL07. It is not a big deal, the only thing we really need is being able to send and receive message while in game, and as far as I know we are getting that. 9.9 times out of 10 the games actually score is far better than any lame music I can put on to replace it.ag_8
You can use it for certain games. Like UT3 would be a great game to use it in or Warhawk. I wouldn't use it for games like MGS4 because those games are amazing and would be ruined, but games that are arcadish would be great to use in-game XMB.

I guess, but it is totally not necessary like the in-game messaging is, we need that. For shooters I usually like little or quiet sound/music so I can hear everything that is going on, but I guess to each their own. I just don't think this is such a big deal that everyone is making it out to be. People just want it so bad because they can't/don't have it.
So waitin for xmb, trophie, and in game music. Well 2.4 will not allow in game music at all and the playstation probably will not ever allow it check it out http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/patterson/23401BigHerm611
lol, the funny thing is that games already have custom sound tracks on PS3, like High Velocity Bowling, so guess what, you're wrong.
There are loopholes in everything.
theycallmeryan
exactly. just that way of doing it is copyrighted which i think is just dumb.. there are many more ways of doing it.

Read the article before ignorantly bashing something. It explains why games like High Velocity Bowling and Super Stardust HD don't violate the patent. Whether all that is true I don't know.

all sony would have to do is have the custom sound track feature a requirement for all ps3 games, kind of like how they have size limits on downloadable games on the systems. the code really would only have to be written once and could be used for all the games. sorry for ignorantly bashing, didnt mean it that way but it reads that way.
That's so old...And actually they're talking about the way M$ does in-game music. Hence why 2.4 has taken a while to come out. Sony simply had to do theirs differently. And Sony wouldn't confirm something if it wasn't coming.G-Legend
