What had made you want to buy a PS3 over the other consoles?

I had gotten a Wii back in Christmas and after I beat Super Smash Bros and MArio Kart it got pretty boring. Shaun White was fun along with Crash Bandicoot but those games were easy to beat and it only took me a little while to finish them. I had originally wanted a PS3 because I'm a big fan. SO I finally got one in May... it's 200 times funner then the wii. As for why I didn't buy an X Box I didn't really see a system difference besides the price, but I got a 100 dollar discount from Gamestop. Plus Drakes Fortune.

Better games, free internet play, blu-ray player also i've own PS1, PS2, PSP and the PS3 was the next step. Never gave Microsoft's Xbox and Xbox 360 a chance.Sk8ter_213

I got both but the reason I dished out the doe for my PS3 was; web browser; free PSN; and the Blu-Ray player. Also even before the release I thought that MGS4 and KZ2 were gonna be phenomenal... THEY WERE!!! Bought the MGS4 80gb bundle when it was released, now I'm looking forward to Uncharted 2 and God of War 3. Mostly because I had a PS1 and PS2. Also the free online play and blue-ray player dragged me in to buying it.

I didn't choose the PS3 over the other consoles. I bought all three so that I would have the option to play everything I like. There's no such thing as "THE" console with the best games and if you limit yourself due to brand loyalty then you're just hurting yourself in the long run.

I was stuck with a PS2 until beginning of 2008. I wanted a next-gen system. I was really thinking of getting a 360 at the time, but then I heard it hate a 33% fail rate at the time, so I got a PS3 instead. :)

After that the games it had appealed to me more than the 360 or Wii's library.

not just because of the games but the numbers of things you can do, for i.e music,video(blue-ray, .avi, .rmvb .etc), internet browser, and of course games like mgs4, GT5 .etc(God Of War 3!!!!)

I got a PS3 for Uncharted. Naughty Dog is my favorite game company...if they went 360 exclusive I may not be on these boards.

what i liked about ps3.

• Best exclusives
• Most potential
• Very open to 3rd party peripherils.
• Blu-ray
• media capabilites
• linux(going to install that soon, once i upgrade my hardrive)
• Hardrive is cheap to upgrade(relatively anyway)
• Best value.
• MGS4(lol):P

what i disliked about other systems:

xbox360

• No exclusives that interest me,(this doesn't include the 'exclusives' that are on pc aswell)
• Do not want to pay for live, also paying for xboxlive influences your game purchases, since you would want to make the most out of the live payment you want to get multiplayer games only, i do not want this to be in my head.
• Unreliable.
• Expensive addons(hardrive,wireless).
• Foul mouthed community.:P
• No netflix in australia, so no hd movies.
• I don't like what they did to rare...They used to be gods...:cry::P

Wii:

positive

• great for parties.
• Mario galaxy

negative:

• Games are too damn easy(even zelda tp)
• waggle.
• IR pointer lag.
• Lack of a decent battery solution.(i.e. forced to purchase an addon)
• Suprisingly expensive.
• limited storage solution.
• region coded games.
• online infrastructure is poor(friend codes)
• shovelware

The reason I chose ps3 over xbox is:

1) I thought final fantasy would be exclussive to ps3

2) don't have to pay for online

3) it was said that ps3 had better graphics

4) had ps1 and ps2 and was very happy with both

5) thought that all the great game franchises from the ps2 would be exclussive to ps3

MGS4. and i started with ps1 and ps2. but i think all 3 consoles are very cool! i would love to have the other 2 if only i am rich.8)

I originally wanted a ps3 but when the 60gb came out i new it was way to overpriced... I was then leaning towards a wii but i kept checking what games were on it and most looked really bad....

So when EB had a trade in offer for the ps3 i took it.... I got a ps3 mainly because of the GOW series and the Kz series....
Also ps2 was my favourite console easily last gen so sony wouldnt disappoint me.....

I own all 3 but enjoy the PS3 the most because it suits my specific needs the best. I am not a heavy online person but I do like to play sometimes so the PS3 having a wired connection and being free helps out a lot. I play by myself most of the time, but am able to play 2 players with a PC gamepad. I like the web browser even though it isn't as good as a PC I like watching videos online and actually laying down on my bed. I like Insomniac games as well as Sony's first party games even more thatn Nintendo's now since they refuse to put out half of their first party games like f-zero and starfox. MS coming out with their next set, what does that tell you? They are just now starting to put digital downloads of 360 games on live. 5 years nowadays is too short for a life span. It was ok a decade ago when consoles couldn't do that much, but now that we can do a lot more, it is best to wait longer. If Xbox 720 comes out then 360 will be dropped immediately like regular xbox was. Sony actually cares about it's fanbase for the most part. Yes they did remove BC but they were trying to make things cheaper. Now that they have people still complain that it is too much. I like copying things from myflash drive to the PS3. I like that sony is creating new IP's instead of just playing it safe all the time and just releasing sequels like Nintendo and MS.

Originally it was the Blu ray player. I was thinking of buying a standalone Blu ray player, but the $200 ones got lousy reviews. So I was looking at the $300 ones, and said what the heck, for an extra $100 I get the whole video game aspect of the PS3 as well. And it's one of the top rated Blu ray players out there. The more I looked into it, I started realizing the games on the PS3 looked awesome, and soon got more excited about that than the whole Blu ray thing.

Didn't even consider the 360 because of the reliability problems, and I like the PS3 games better, and $300 for something that doesn't play Blu rays is not worth it to me. Even if it did work.

Wii just doesn't appeal to me at all.
