[QUOTE="raven_squad"]I can appreciate any visual style as long as it's well done. I don't really have a preference. adizorz
i pretty much feel the same way.
as do I, but id do think more developers should make use of cell-shading. it's way under used.i do think more developers should make use of cell-shading. it's way under used.paperdollparade
thing is cell shading is seen as something that is sort of niche, and marketing a style like that is much harder to the average pre pubescent male gamer or manchildren. Its because they want to feel mature even though they spend half the game teabagging people, so realistice graphics pull more people in, its a shame really.
especially when you can achieve such wonderful results with a bit less processor overhead/(meaning it doesn't have to take up as much processing power, it can if they want it to, but it doesn't have to)
Definitely realistic graphics for me. The whole point of this current generation of consoles is to provide more realistic graphics to create a more immersive gameplay experience - and it works! As far as cartoonish or cell-shaded stuff, I can get dozens of games like that on the PS2 - for about one-sixth the price of a PS3 game. I didn't spend $400 for a PS3 to play last-gen games; I've already got plenty of those.
more realistic graphics please. i can play cell shaded and love it but in the end i prefer more realistic. there is only one game i think needs to be cell shaded.

lol, All the answers made me smile, though.
Funny how all those games are ones I loathed.

Good game, albeit.. short-lived. Still, well-worth the $9.99.
What about dark gritty games like Killzone 2? :?
I still like Uncharted graphics better...
But still....
i don't like games being too uberphotorealistic since the thing they're trying to imitate (which is real life) can't be topped by any texture maps for the at least next, dare i say it, 100 years. so no. (100 years since it only took a quarter of that for us to go from 8-bit to 1080p). anyways, i'd say cel-shaded games since they tend to be more colourful, less framerate drops, and they're just pleasing to the eyes. i don't like gritty art styles. it's just depressing. UC2 style is obviously amazing. but yea, games like Valkyria Chronicles, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, the new Prince of Persia, Okami, etc. are definitely pleasing.
Some of you seem to question what some games go under, so here's a little help. Any game that the human characters have realistic proportions and colors are realistic (Uncharted, Killzone, Dark Void, ect.). Games that have weird animations (FYI: robots that have bending metal, like Dr. Nefarious) are cartoony. Cell shaded..... Self explanatory.
