I got the 60gb back in March when I came home for Spring break. I got it back when it was $600 and also bought R:fom. A few weeks later I bought Motorstorm and Oblivion. My brother bought his 60gb in early september after the first price drop. He started off with Warhawk and Oblivion. A week or two later he got Heavenly Sword and NHL08. Our collections have grown more and more. We have 16 games including two copies of Warhawk and Oblivion (one for each of us). Next on our list is Ratchet & Clank w/ after xmass money and Haze for me in January and Dark Sector for him in February.
I got me a 40gb. Here's how I see it in the long run the B/C won't matter because you'll be focus on the PS3 games. And don't forget the hard drive in upgradable. My 40gb became a 120gb. You might care about B/C now, but a year or even 6 months down the road you won't be minding it.
I got 60GB on October 11, shortly before they became phased out. I'm glad I got one, but now the 80 GB is just as cheap, and comes with a game, and the backwards compatibility is very good on it now through system updates.
I refuse to pay $100 more for the useless stuff the 80GB has except for the BC ofcourse but I dont need that since I have a PS2. 60GB aren't available(NEW) anymore and I dont buy used stuff expecially consoles.
The 60gig of course, on January 07, I bought Resistance, played FFXII and WoW back then to pass the time, then got Ninja Gaiden Sigma and MotorStorm after I quit WoW. Ahh good times, good times. :)
got mine in october roughly. i was going to get the 40GB but my local was selling a 60GB with 2 games for just 100 euro more. payed 500 euro in total which was a great deal imho.
