Thinking about what we'd miss out on...

personally I'm starting to draw a blank. Guitar Hero is milked crap now anyway, plus Rock Band is far better... Call of Duty has a whole lot of noobs, personally though I never liked it, it's also milked and now PS3 owners can play more shooters to support Sony, and... what else will we miss out on in the coming months? Help me out, I don't know what's so devastating.

I feel the same way. I can do without most everything Activision has to offer. I didn't even like COD4 enough to buy it.

Well considering Call of Duty is a best-selling franchise and for some reason people are still buying into the Guitar Hero milkfest, it would still be a big hit in those regards. Like it or not, those game franchises sell REALLY well. But regardless, it doesn't matter, Activision won't stop supporting PS3, it's all a publicity stunt.

It will hurt Sony and probably separate a fourth of it's consumers.... It may not mean anything to us gamers, but just imagine a whole company "ActiVision" picking up and walking away to what we know as Sony's rival; not a good thing at all. Like it or not Call of Duty/Modern Warfare is pretty damn popular (I have like 10 people I know who are dieing to play MW2 who own a PS3. They wouldn't be happy campers either...

Nice.

In my perfect world, Activision stops supporting PS3, so PS3 owners actually buy exclusives, and we get a load of kickass games. Also EA begins to like us and the Wii, where Activision gets swallowed by Microsoft because they're both VERY greedy. And ****s.

On the other side, the bad world, Activision leaves and so everyone buys a 360 for the milkfest, game quality drops, Sony goes bankrupt, etc.

Ever noticed this? Microsoftsends out their big guns always in the holidays. Only inthe holidays. That's because games sell better near the end of the year, obviously. So while Microsoft counts its money year round, 360 gamers are taping their exclusive thumbs in August. Whereas Sony sends games out year-round, even during slow months, but keeping their gamers happy. Look at Killzone 2, inFamous. Great games, would have sold a whole lot more in November.

Don't say "Halo Wars", because... well,it kind of is bad :D

You need to play a game to have an opinion on it. And even then, it's still just an opinion.

They can leave and it wouldn't make a differnce for me. In the end they could lose a lot of sales revenue that they would be hard pressed to get back.

And what gives you the idea that I haven't played it?

Valkyria Chonicles > Halo Bores. As for opinion, many people share my opinion, including Gamespot.

Plus Activision is D********s. Remember their "issue" with Brutal Legend? :P

Sony does sony cares alot they are important to them. they aren't going to leave because they depend on sony as well though. but anyone will tell you that sony never will or never plans on making a profit with the ps3 it doesn't work that way it never does they make money off the software sales and licensing fees. and activision is responsible for a big number of those. but at the same time were in an economic crisis and games are more expensive to develop so the extra profit from portin go the ps3 is a big boost for activision.

ok so hypothetically speaking, what if they come out with a MW3 in the future and they happen to release a AA or even AAA IP in the future and we cant play it on the PS3 because they stopped dev for SONY, then what? would you still continue not to care? (bunch of lier's)

With the exception of IW, Activision can kiss money good buy. Activision is the worst of the 3rd party publishers. They milk franchises, don't give us any new IPs, they dropped some games with good potential (brutal legend, ghostbusters, wet) and then complain later. Seriously Activision is terrible and the only game I want from them is MW2 (not call of duty bc Treyarch sucks)

This, and..... I don't give a **** either way. I do enjoy a COD game from time to time, but I have them all on PC anyway. Activision is an over-inflated colostomy bag. It wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit if they stopped leaking their **** into my PS3.

yeah i still wouldnt care because i dont really like fps all that mush so unless this new ip you speak of even comes out it would have to be something competely different from anything that activision has done in the past to get my attention

I want them to stop backing Sony. I hate Activision. The only things that i liked about them is that they used to do Publishing for id. Id's with Bethesda now, so i have no use for Activision.

I care only due to the implications and effects it may have on other developers and publishers. It could cause a chain reaction of companies dropping support that would be catastrophic. If it were just about activision and their games though, I don't give a poo.

My sisters are casual gamers...with that said, even they know that one Guitar Hero is enough for this family for an entire generation of consoles. And last I checked, I didn't really care about their games. "Elitist" gamer here. lol

i care. It's not like guitar hero and call of duty games are the only franchises that Activision publishes (i love CoD though :). yeah, they're milking them right now, but you never know when they might publish a new IP. And what if, god forbid, this game actually turns out to be good, we'll see a whole wave of people saying/ranting/crying of how they wish it was released for the PS3...

People can keep telling themselves they don't care and post comments like "screw them. it's not like i liked their games anyway" all they want (whether that's how they truly feel or are just acting out; i'm fine with extreme opinions). But trust me, a lot of them will be pissed off just like those who see the big picture of the contingency if Activision does indeed leave Sony and begins to publish new IP's for its competitors... It's not as if i can say something like this will happen with certainty, but one thing i'm sure about is: i will would rather receive Activision's support than not.

Would that not have been a correct statement...?

yes it would be :)

series getting milked:

- GH

- CoD

- DBZ fighters (hardcore milking)

- Dynasty Warriors (hardcore milking)

- Various 1-dimensional Gundam games

- Mario games (king of utters)

series approaching that mark, which many could consider are already there:

- Tom clancy games

- Tekken (and many other fighters)

- Final Fantasy spin-offs

- armored core

ehh... i'll stop right here...

The prez of Activision was just blowing smoke. There is no way they would give up one of their revenue streams up to another competitor like EA or UBI. They realize that if they leave all those gamers will have to look some other company to fill the void. I don't think they would like 4 million FPS fans buying EA's next FPS.

If Activision leaves Sony then the other developers who support the system will have more opportunities to sell games. Activision claims they are losing money with the PS3 so let them increase their revenues on the XBOX, and the folks who still publish with Sony can continue to make money on the PS3. Let the marketplace work.
