I know a couple of 360 owners who wont pay for live. They keep getting the free trial (48 hours or soemthign) and just renew a new one when it runs out (not sure how it works) but thats pertty sad
Reminds me of the days of the AOL floppys. Sign up for the free trial, cancel, and sign up again. We didn't pay for internet for 1 and a half years.
The video game industry should actually fix things first before they think they could get some extra cash revenues from us customers. We're not idiots you know (EA I'M TALKING TO YOU, THINK YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH MICROTRANSACTIONS)dbd333
The "Micro-transaction" business model has been around for years. It's not a Japanese thing, it's a business thing.
There are 3 reasons why PS3 is doing poorly! 1) the price now slightly better but still too high, 2) The lack of good games that are not available on xb360 (often better-with achievements) 3) the waste of time online experience. Honestly £5 a month is practically free anyway,i cant believe anyone complains about xbox price-the service in US is amazing (except for loack of 1080p movies), once the UK catches up it will even better. If sony want to win they will have to match microsofts service which for online play is PERFECT. Honestly i would pay £5 a month for this i cannot believe anyone with enough cash for a ps3 is too tight to pay that. piinshot
it's not the price, it's the principal.

WAIT this guys is complaining the ps3 is too expensive then says you shouldnt worry about XBL costs "5 a month". If you had a Ps3 for 5-6 years how much would it cost you "per month"?

. in a world where you have to pay for so many things its nice to change it up and have some things complementary

I'd like to think we are more intelligent, seeing how online is free on PC, free on PS3, why would I pay to play on the 360? It doesnt make any sense does it?
$50 to play a game online? You paid $60 for the game there is no sense in paying for a feature like online play.
The PS3 servers are generally lag free and a lot of fun, not filled with foul language and microphone heros who's foul mouths are enough to keep me from paying the extra $50.
. this is a BIG selling point for me
Well since i considered getting a 360 not so long ago and one of the first things i would have done would be to purchase gold membership, the answer is yes.
But in truth i think the psn is fine, what you have to remember is xbl has been out alot longer than psn so offcourse it's going to have a bigger online community and more stuff to download.Once home comes out and time goes by i think psn will be just as strong if not better.
But thats just my opinion ;)

true dat!
WoW a bunch of cheap people over here.

why? cuz we dont want to pay for something that SHOULD be free? u pay 400+ for the console...60 for the game and oh yea if u wanna play the whole game u need to pay a monthly fee... and then when u get online its a lag fest and u get random shut downs (yes im taling about XBL)

PS3 $399:40gb hard drive,Wi-fi,Blu-Ray,Free Online
360 $349:20gb hard drive,no wi-fi,no nextgen movie player,$50/yr online service
hmmmmmm....which ones a better buy?
Not to mention the ps3 has a solid lineup of exclusives either out or coming out in the next 6. so i dont understand you saying theres a lack of games...
PS3:Resistance,Heavenly Sword,Uncharted,Ratchet
360:Halo 3,Gears,Mass Effect,Bioshock
thats 4 to 4. i dont see any reason not to get a 360 over a ps3 now.
EDIT*****
of course i meant ps3 over 360....sorry about that
and i do realize the 360 comes with a headset and component cables, but neither are very expensive at all.
as good as xbox live is, its not that much better. psn gives you the ability to message friends, voice chat, online marketplace, internet browser...all for free

The functionality offering on XboxLive could be described as "standard". Being able to send messages for instance. Since it should not cost the company alot to maintain it. Things like arcade or other game downloads I can understand. Thats content. Its EXTRA. So paying for XboxLive for getting standard functionality AND ADVERTISING, is like paying the car wash to enable me to wash my own car.
i am pretty sure all those things are already standard. the only thing free members cannot do is play online. Silver members can do everything else except play online multiplayer.
pay for online, why? PSN is perfect for me right now, and Home will make it better.
As for the cheap comment, if you want to pay for online, then fine. go buy a 360

The difference with the 4-4 you mentioned is that Halo 3 is the biggest fastest selling release to date!Gears was an amazing visual and cinematic experience that will lead the way for all similar games in the future, Bioshock-good game, Mass effect-ok game. Now-NONE OF THOSE PS3 GAMES EVEN GOT A 9/10-resistance is mediocre at best (the reviews show that), Ratchet is a "7.5" game (i.e poor game), heavenly-nothing more then eye candy and uncharted got a very dodgy 8/10 (i say it deserves 7).
NOw i am not bashing as i have both consoles and would like something good en0ough to play to actually come out on ps3 (metal gear & FF are a long way off though). And when i play a team based game online i want to discuss tactics, chat and give/recieve advice...it adds to realism. Nobody seems to even have a headset on PSN and letys not forget that the little 40gig HD PS3 pack your on about does not even let you play the best games out on the PS3....PS2 ONES!
@Piinshot,
About the scores for the Ps3 games...those are from ONE game review site, if you look at others they are generally at least 1 point higher. R&C got near perfect to perfect scores on other websites.
Now about the topic, I wouldn't pay for better online because PSN is fine for me right now and the reason for that is I don't have online friends *sulks*. My real friends don't even have PS3 so still no point. I can understand why people like XBL but for me online gameing is to play games online --as of right now.

Holy skittles in a biscuit! You only rely on one site? (Gamespot):?
You're missing out on some GREAT games.
I for one am not that that big on multi-player on-line games. I like to playonce in a while but not much. Playing on-line is free on Psn and getting charged every month for xbl gold when i don't use it much was getting old. both systems have the same on-line quality in my opinion.
