Also, don't you think the storyline is kind of ruined when Niko says "I need money" despite the fact he just earned $250,000 from 1 job alone? Fair enough early on in the storyline you're very poor but when you're pushing a $1,000,000 and he STILL says he wants to earn more money, it feels sort of, well, wrong.

It takes away the whole "trying to live the American dream" of cars, money and women when he is practically living it anyway.

The game is amazing I agree.

But If we look back at VC and SA we would be able to see how much content there was in the game aside from the main story.

For example and these are a few of many things that should have been worked on:

U cant buy property

U cant collect weekly or daily money from places that u own or u have control over.

There is not a signle gang that hates u. I drive down the street feeling safe no one is gonna shoot me or give me a reason to shoot them.

It is still an amazing game, but if they update it that would be great.

BioShockOwnz

Quality > quantity.

they should have build upon those elements and others.

I disagree. I like the more gritty and realistic vibe of GTA IV.

no one is talking about the look of it, he was talking about the gameplay elements in the game, instead of rockstar going deep into the internet mechanic and TV stations they could have made the property buying and gang wars way deeper.. that would make players coming back to play the game some more after completing it.

maybe in the next GTA :)

Everybody is saying that gta is overrated and boring. The game had an amazing 20+ hour long campaign with amazing detail and many really fun multiplayer modes. What else do people want? I guess they thought the game would last forever and they could drive around the city and blow up cars and it would never get boring. But it's just a game, and it has to end. Post what you think of GTA IV now that the hype is gone. ihacker

because it is. Seriously the missions are no fun. Opinion so don't flame but i really don't like the series.

I enjoyed GTA IV a lot. I loved GTA III, and GTA:VC but GTA: SA was good but I got bored with the series. I think the subtle details, and improved game engine, and game elements made GTA IV quite memorable in my eyes. I wouldn't necessarily agree a perfect 10 from GameSpot, but nonetheless a game that deserved a 9.0 or above. Niko is also a very likeable character, and the best protonagist of the series so far.

Meh, those deeper parts didn't interest me in Vice City Stories or San Andreas, so I was fine seeing the more role playing elements removed.

San Andreas is ALOT better imo... I mean graphically it looks better than the other gta's, but the only thing I liked in gta4 was the improved targeting system, cell phone and the storyline. Other then that, it kinda took a step backwards with evertyhing else...

its a great game but it couldve been better. What happend to the crazy taxi mission, the ambulance and fire fighter missions. Whats the deal with that internet thing, which served no purpose. That dateing thing was ok, carman made me laugh a lot, but there isn't much places to take your friends. Whats the deal with that amusement park, with the ferrist weel, roller coster, mini golf, and go carts. You can't even use them. I hope are unlocked later on. Im a little annoyed that i can't use them. Its agreat game but SA was a whole lot better. There was a lot more to do in that game.

At the expense of being a far less polished game.

You know what would make the game a lot better for me. Being able to redo the missions outside of the story. After i finnish the game ther isn't much left to do. I dont have the urge to go around causeing mayham. I prefer stormin the building and shooting down the bad guys.

Also it needed a money sink, i got all this money but no where to put it. I do go through ammo like i go through oxigen, but it still not enough.

Just like EVERY VIDEO GAME EVER! That is not a valid point. Due to genres every video game is repetitive.

[QUOTE="PStringa"]I think it's probably due to the lack of small extra RPG feature's which were present in SA and next to nothing apart from weapons to spend your money on. Just basically not much to do if you don't wish to follow the main plot. However multiplayer I think was supposed to be the answer to that problem but sadly for me just didn't quite cut it.kenshinhimura16

Yep, that was the thing that bothered me the most. I consider that all games require little RPG elements in this age to keep you going. There are only a few that can go away without them. But in GTA, you need them, a reason to be there or to use something. Not having at least skills was a real piece of crap imo.

I agree completely, now-a-days game's require much more depth to be successful and the only way (at least in my opinion) is to have some RPG elements even if it's just a simple level system because you can't get much more depth and realism (which is what gaming is striving for) that a real-life simulation.

Comparing GTA4 to MGS4 is not fair. They are different in genres, as the saying goes its like comparing apples to oranges. I believe people are only doing that because they both got a 10 on Gamespot. In all honesty I think no game deserves a 10 because people always want more, thats just human nature. Pretty sure we all have enjoyed games but have said to ourselves "I wish we could do such and such" thus always leaving room for improvement.

It's overrated because it isn't a great game. After the story there isn't anything to do, and the story is terrible compared to other GTA's. Niko is a good character, but the missions just got so repetitive after a while.Foffity
As opposed to the thousands of other games that have tons of stuff to do after the story is complete, right? That doesn't make much sense to me. The missions in this GTA aren't any more repetitive than the missions in any GTA game since GTA III. Just like practically every other game out today, the only thing left to do after the story is to play online, which GTA offers.

I think that people just think it's cool to hate this game. It's a solid experience, but it wasn't revolutionary. Perhaps that's what people expected.

San Andreas was my least-favorite GTA. It should have been called "GTA the RPG". Bodybuilding? Boring. Long drives through the bland countryside? Boring. It was a good game, but it's the one GTA that I never picked up again. Some people prefer that to the GTA III vibe, but I'm not one of them.

There is a over abundant amount of flaws in this game. The graphics are decent but not great. The story line is good and I really got into it. the game-play is where I had a lot of problems. I kept trying to get out of that peep aroud the corner move and all Nikko kept doing was jumping from one side of the door to the other. Sometimes when you run into a room to shoot someone he would point a the wall and shoot if a wall was close to the door on the inside., same going up a flight of stairs. Head shots were useless on many characters, I would shoot a henchmen in the head with the sniper rifle and they would stumble and start firing again, are these guys zombies or something.

****SPOILER****

When getting onto the boat when chasing Dimitri, I had to press the triangle button 3 or 4 times before he actually sat down to drive the boat, and that means I missed the helicopter ride or got blown up by Dimitri.

This games rates a 8.9 the most, a 10(ten) I don't think so, and I am a fan of the series, I own them all.

The idea of leveling this sequence is simple to help users understand which point in their progression their at.

Well, I played it through then screwed around for a couple hours and I don't play it much anymore. I'm not saying it's overrated, I just feel that SA had more replay value.

it is overrated... damn man... i beat that game so quickly and it got boring after... in my opinion the games graphics are almost like the last, only difference is more assignments for you to do... it still is a good game though but a bit overrated..

[QUOTE="ihacker"]Everybody is saying that gta is overrated and boring. The game had an amazing 20+ hour long campaign with amazing detail and many really fun multiplayer modes. What else do people want? I guess they thought the game would last forever and they could drive around the city and blow up cars and it would never get boring. But it's just a game, and it has to end. Post what you think of GTA IV now that the hype is gone. warbmxjohn

cuz it s*cks, and its the same thing that the others GTA... its like... oh its an awesome game... then 4hrs later... oh, im doing the same... 2 hrs later... how boring...

Just like EVERY VIDEO GAME EVER! That is not a valid point. Due to genres every video game is repetitive.

yes i know but at least the other games are bit diferent, and the history change a lot or is something ur waiting... but this GTA4 is like GTA3 with bettr graphics

i loved how in VC u had a bunch of companies (cabs, ice cream, auto) it really made VC better than gta iv....all u can do in IV is do missions, no ambulance missions, no cop missions no fire truck missions.. IMO little things matter the most when adding gameplay features to the game GTA IV DOESNT HAVE ANY OF IT!!!!!

The reason why every say that GTA 4 is overrated because it is. Look at how many reviews that gave this game a 10/10. Don't get me wrong I thought the game was good but it was just to many hit and misses for me. It seemed like they removed all the things that made the GTA series classic to add in these new things to GTA 4. Like for example, The cell phone and the Internet idea was brilliant, but the experience was quickly killed by having friends call you non-stop and then loss friend points because you can not entertain them due to being in the middle of a mission. Hell I don't enjoy my friends always calling me about something so why would I enjoy it in a game. One of the big things that all GTA fans hated about this game was the repetitive drug bust missions. After San Andreas you got to add more variety to missions. The length wouldn't that bad but may have been longer if you stayed a PS3 exclusive. All in all this game is a 8.5/10 but a 9/10 is reasonable. Anything else is overrated.

Because it is boring. The main thing for me that hurts the game is the cell phone going off constantly. And if you turn it off then people hate you for it. Just lame. Plus the 200 flying rats is way to much for just 1 thing.
