@silentchief: crazy isn’t it? I love when civilians who have never served act like they’re know it alls. Go down to your recruiter, sign up, then come talk to me. These guys twisting themselves into pretzels trying to find a way not to take responsibility. But…that’s what liberals do. I used to be one. Liberals don’t accept responsibility. They place blame. They twist facts. They play “what if” games. They do anything and everything to spin situations because the thought of knowing their guy is a screw up is far too much to comprehend.

Look at them here. “Buhh buhh Trump!” Trump what? He had an agreement? Ohh really? Cool story. But Trump isn’t President. You don’t know what would have happened had he been re-elected. But your candidate won. He’s the President. And stop, for the love of God, stop acting like a new President must do what the old President wanted or said he’d do. Trump was for the Keystone pipeline and Biden took it away day one, so get out of here with that line of thinking.

You’ve got to learn, some people can’t be helped, or helped yet. Nothing will suffice, especially with those with TDS. It really doesn’t matter what happens, it’ll be Trumps fault. There’s no recourse, it’s Trumps fault. Trump, Trump, Trump. These types of people have no political knowledge and shouldn’t be taken seriously.

You haven't refuted a single point. You have no clue what your talking about. Why didn't this new Isis attack our forces when Trump was in office? This is an absolute disaster. Most Americans agree Biden screwed this up and that was before it got worse.

He didn't make any points. He refuses to see how some of the decisions made by the prior administration caused this to happen. And the Taliban was always going to go after Afghanistan. Perhaps if trump had dealt with the government and not the Taliban the president wouldn't have taken the money and run and the soldiers give up. Nonetheless, once we were out, the Taliban was coming back.

Lol a far leftist forum dweller talking about military operations to a former marine... please just STFU. This is on Biden and nobody else. Do you honestly think they would have had the balls to attack us under Trump? Trump would have blown them off the map. His ego was to big to get attacked and do nothing... they know this. Biden is bending down like a bitch.. The US looks pathetic and within two weeks they took the country back and rebuilt their terrorist network.

Except I'm a vet so I don't need a far right forum dweller trying to score cheap points with his far right buddies. The Taliban did, in fact, attack while Trump was in office. He capitulated to them and said he'd withdrawal. Learn history before opening your mouth.

They spent most their time being obliterated under Trump, that is a fact. The Taliban did not attack us after we withdrew 2500 troops. And all of a sudden out of knowwhere we have Isis-K...

Please do us a favor and just stop talking. Accept this giant fuckup is on Biden and move along.

Neither the Taliban nor ISIS were oblitered dude. Come on get real. The Taliban attacked pre agreement. When they had the surrender flag waved at them they stopped until 1 May because they knew the US would be gone. But before that they certainly attacked while trump was president.

Obama certainly should have ended this. He doesn't get a pass on it. Bush started it and is most to blame though.

Google the US controlled parts of Afghanistan when Trump was in office and Google them now. They had nothing. They took everything back in two weeks. And mark my words they will start attacking the west again. Keep in mind they didn't touch the US under Trump... so when the terrorist attacks start happening again I look forward to you somehow blaming Trump.

He's been president for 7 months. He didn't negotiate ending the occupation this year. He did what had to be done. This was always going to be a mess and believing otherwise is foolish. There were 3 other presidents that left it go.

I'm just talking about reality. If we left last year or in ten years, I see the same outcome. Once our troops are gone the Afghan military wasn't going to do the job. Doesn't matter what party is in the WH.

@sargentd: *Trump’s President* “everything is his fault” - *Biden’s President* “everything bad that happens is Trumps fault.”

You better believe they’ll use Trump as an excuse for many things over the years, for probably the next decade. No shame in their lack of political knowledge game.

Trump had the situation under control, that's why he released thousands of Talibans, several high ranking. Because that's what you do when you're winning, you negotiate with terrorists and agree to their demands.

He also did a brilliant job in completely obliterating in eliminating the Daesh, that's why they're back in full force. It's a miracle, the dead are coming back to life!

I was watching an Al Jazeera report a few months ago and they were talking about how in the last year's the Daesh was gaining control over refugee camps and nobody seemed to care and how inevitably it would become a larger problem.

Biden admin absolutely should have done better but to ignore that this is a direct result of the terrible foreign policy from the Trump admin is being willfully stupid or just trolling. Trump cared about optics not real solutions and that's why basically every single region he decided to apply his "diplomatic" skills is basically worse than before he came to power.

Afghanistan was a landmine the US stepped on 20 years ago and one way or another things were not going to end well. And, again, if you think releasing the enemy you fought during 20 years is a sign of things being under control and going according to plan, I don't even know what to tell you.

Regardless of how hard the next few days are going to be I hope Biden sticks with the decision.

Remember the Iraq withdrawal in 2011? No? I don't and that's how a competent withdrawal should be done. It's obvious Obama took far more care on this than sleepy joe ever did.

People complain about Obama but compared to trump and biden, it feels like Obama was Mozart. I like trump but releasing 5000 taliban was a mistake. Aside from that though, when trump set that deadline he would have stuck to it.

Biden has been incompetent since the day he started.

Obama was correct when he said "don't underestimate Joe's ability to f*#* things up."

@sargentd: Whatever makes you feel better dude, there's nothing I can do about reality.

I did not exempt Biden from making mistakes, but to dissociate the FACT that Trump released thousands of Talibans, the same people who killed Americans soldiers, from the FACT that those exact same people took over the country, is insanity. It's not even "same people" in a general sense, it's literally "the same people", one of the guys is the leader.

And to add to the cocktail, the Daesh, who you guys have been gloating about being gone. Is right here, always was, and for some reason was ignored.

To be fair, what Trump did is just one more among endless American **** ups but I don't even think it's just incompetence. Who knows, maybe the US wants to leave China with a geopolitical puzzle to solve. It's part of the MO if you think about it, generate regional instability. Maybe both Trump and Biden were led to make those decisions.

Straight up abandoning anyone there past the deadline. We could potentially be abandoning more Americans in Afghanistan than died in 9/11.

Thoughts and prayers, I guess.

@silentchief: Osama is a Saudi, 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis, it would make more sense to start the war with idk Japan, don’t even get me started with operation Iraqi Freedom just like Afghanistan based on Bushes lies and all the politicians that voted for it and an idiot like you still supports them, if bush and other politicians believed so strongly why didn’t they send their children in frontlines 1st

Biden’s“ legacy? Wha…? Bush and the Republicans started this mess, if it’s anyone’s legacy, it’s theirs to bear. But it is highly amusing how so many are seizing on Biden’s fumbling to try to now paint Trump as the picture of competence and strength. 🙄

I‘ll not defend Biden here, nor will I fault Trump for this outcome, but give me a break with this revisionist trash in trying to paint Trump as the picture of competence….the man literally….literally governed by tweet. Remember the trans ban announcement tweet that left his generals reeling because they were so caught off guard? Remember the travel ban from many Arab countries so incompetently executed it threw airports across the nation into absolute chaos? That man couldn’t even execute on such menial, trivial domestic policy within his own government in peacetime, and now you’re trying to shovel this garbage that he was carefully coordinating with his generals for this withdrawal of a decades long conflict and it would’ve proceeded smooth as pie?

Delusional. This would‘ve been a disaster under Trump, the only difference is, he’d be on Twitter blaming everything and everyone else (but only as long as they’re democrats, Obama appointed, or from the Left) instead of saying “I’m the President, the buck stops with me“ (which Biden did say, something you folks refuse to acknowledge).

Stick with blaming Biden, I’m there with ya. Try to paint Trump as capable? Thanks for the laugh.

I'm starting to think that this would have been a mess regardless. The fact is the pakis and Russians, probably chinese even were funding and sheltering the taliban. Then the useless Afghanistan army, my God, they had twice or three times the size of army, better equipment and training and still lost. It just blows my mind. Honestly, if I can bring a starcraft analogy to this, it would be like a zergling attack against late stage terrains with battle cruisers. It's staggering to me, how useless the afghan soldiers were but at the same time I guess you can't blame regular people for not wanting to throw away their lives against some fucking extremist bastards on a jihad.

13 US servicemen total killed, 10 of which were marines. Dozens of civilians also killed from the bombing, and the additional killed by the gunmen who cowardly opened fired on civilians. Total amount of dead/wounded still forthcoming for the civilians.

I raise my glass tonight to the brave US servicemen holding the line. 13 more gold star families, thoughts and prayers are with them.

Jill Biden must be the one on top when the two share an intimate moment, because Joe Biden only knows how to **** up.

Everyone Make sure to Thank Bush and all the politicians both side that voted for the war, and you idiots keep putting those same people in power because you care more about the party than the country

I absolutely supported the war and still do. They were responsible for the largest terrorist attack in US history wtf would you have done? Where I disagree is we should have never tried to build them back up and replace their government. We should have just leveled the country and left.

That is perhaps one area in which I agree. Turn the whole country into a glass parking lot, plant tomatoes, and invest in Heinz.

It's amazing how quickly some people embrace cartoon villainy.

You're talking about genocide. While some people on the Right continue to try to distance themselves from the Nazi comparisons and members in their ranks, others proudly embrace the worst parts of the ideology.

I see military humor and word play aren't some of your strong points. My point was that the regions that were overran with taliban had huge pockets that threw families out of their houses and either killed them or forced them to join. When I say "the whole country" I actually meant the hives. What some people don't seem to understand is that no one plays by the rules during a war. It's funny how people in our country seem to side with the enemy these days.

I don't actually want to see anyone get nuked... what that actually means is to send the Marines in and to take every last one of those cowards to Allah directly.

Back before general Mattis became a turncoat and I respected the man he said it best "I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you **** with me, I’ll kill you all." Well... that's exactly what they did, and that is what generals and those trained to kill and protect their own country or those tasked with protecting the people of another do.

You don't negotiate with terrorists. The deal we made to pull out was with conditions in which Trump understood was an endless war. Those people have been at war for thousands of years and it's all they know and Trump knew that it wasn't going to end. Biden failed miserably and didn't even have a plan.. and then stands in front of the nation and smirks before addressing what happened after men and women died on the frontlines because of his mistakes? Sickening and pathetic. It's the same people always crying injustice that will be crawling on their knees begging for protection to those they disagree with if the fighting ever hits our own shores.

People can say whatever they want, and maybe the taliban would have eventually taken the country back without continued support, but when Trump left office less than 15% of Afghanistan was controlled by the taliban and now the entire country is controlled by them. The way we withdrew, left equipment and assets, intel, and threw American lives to the wind is unacceptable and unforgiveable.

I know I said my last comment was the last one since I was done arguing with a window licker, but I responded back to this to make myself clear and to put things into perspective that my words weren't meant to be taken so literally. Sometimes I forget that every group of people I talk to aren't my military groups and don't understand the morbid sense of humor a lot of war vets have, and for that I apologize.

@thenation: It isn't? Who just withdrew the military first, leaving behind everyone and everything else? Unless you're as slow as Biden this should be an easy answer (hint, he's in office now, I just used his name also).

@WitIsWisdom: The person you're agreeing with is on record as meaning it literally. Perhaps it is you who doesn't grasp the words being used, and you should choose your allies and words more carefully.

This will be Biden's legacy.

Just Biden's?

Not Bush's?

Not Obama's?

Not Trump's?

Biden's legacy? Look I don't like Biden that much but the dude has been president for like 6 months and this has been a 20-year conflict.

I laugh when people say it's a war that "spans four presidents" because frankly it's more like 3.1 presidents. Round it down, folks.

I think once the sensationalism dies down and some time goes bye, history will look favorably on this. It's not like Afghanistan was a bastion of peace, democracy, and gender equality to begin with.

Look at the damage Biden has done to the country in eight months, this and Afghanistan will be his legacy. He should never have been president and as bad as he is the people behind him are even worse. Here is the line of succession Harris, Pelosi, and Leahy. WE are in bad shape as a country with no way out of this mess.
