Oh, thanking you most kindly, Squire. How gracious for one such as what your esteemed self is to grant us all the gift of free speech, which in my humbliest is indeed an inalienable right! Woe, if only Tw*tter would but follow your generous lead, this world in what we peasants must live would soon be the happiest of kingdoms. :)

If you say you like Trump or acknowledge he is the president you stand a very good chance of losing your job.

Not liking Trump to them is a crime to conservatives.

If he wasn’t so bad at his job or such a terrible person, he’d have positive stories.

Or is it? Not sure who to believe in this story, but it is interesting. If people tweeted negative things about Trump and received no punishment then he should have the right to say what he said also. Of course the school is always going to deny that was the reason.

Lying to my boss would be stupid. Further, there are people in my office who do support Trump. Nobody cares. We're adults and check our politics at the door. Also, Linkedin has plenty of people who support Trump. Some post really ignorant comments on the platform and still have jobs.

Oh, I wouldn't know anything about irony or the like, Sir, and scum such as my poor, wretched self, as you rightly point out, is ignorant as to the current state of rulings regarding the binding nature or otherwise of click wrap agreements or the extent to which they might pertain to ongoing challenges to section 230 liability protections (or their overseas equivalents) for publishers in an evolving global medium such as what this is... All what I've got is my lowly hopes, and them, such as they are, no court in this land, or any other for that matter, can take from me.

But I fear I befoul your valuable moments with my muddled and aimless peasant nattering, so will wish you a good day and be on my merry back to System Wars.

It's not illegal to dislike the president. Defamation is illegal.

Trump is full of shit tho and thinks that everything is about him. And I'd argue you can't defame someone who is already a terrible person.

Buzz off with your Free Beacon Bullshit. Not only is this an isolated case that the district flatly denied, but also per this article, the teacher was also posting material insulting for his political opponents. Woops, guess it's not as cut and dry as the KGB wants us to believe.

I think he meant illegal as in the media reporting fake news. Like when CNN and the WP just settled cases by the Covington kid who won both settlements due to fake news.

My boss is a Trump supporter...

...In California...

...In the SF Bay Area.

This is still America folks, you don't lose your job for saying most things; and while we might think the court of public opinion is condemning people left and right, it's usually only if you're famous and/or have a significant online following or something.

My best friend is a hillbilly dirt-farming pope-loving Trump voter and I am a filthy pagan hippie-spawn leftie. Stop thinking that what you see on TV is the norm and realize that on a person-to-person basis none of this shit matters.

I'm really glad that kid won those lawsuits (or rather the settlement). He got a bad deal in that whole situation, can't imagine the stress and threats he got.

CNN is garbage, took me a long time to realize that.

I don't know, when was the last time a president was partially responsible for millions of infected Americans who won't make a full recovery, 150k American deaths, and double-digit unemployment?

I know Trump didn't bring COVID to this country, but he utterly fucked up how the US handled it.

Trump doesn't love you, and he certainly does not love America or Americans. To Trump, we all exist to serve him.

Not stupid just true.

I know teachers in that district. His story is complete b.s. Luckily for him, the district can't disclose the reason for his disciplinary action, but it wasn't specifically those tweets.

The latest stories regarding the matter, "The Walled Lake Consolidated School District is saying that a high school teacher was not disciplined for expressing his support of President Trump on social media."

A funny little tidbit, dude went to a privately owned, for-profit online newspaper to break the original story... Hmm

Wow how embarrassing for you. You can't defend your non-point anymore so you have to deflect to a completely different and unrelated story? And by the by, if you're referring to Bernell Trammell there is no evidence to indicate his death was politically motivated, he just so happened to support Trump but he also supports BLM and other left leaning movements as well. So even with the desperate reach you have failed again.

https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/crime/2020/07/26/milwaukees-bernell-trammell-fatally-shot-what-we-know-death-trump-support-black-lives-matter/5514083002/

"But Trammell also supported the Black Lives Matter movement and progressive Democrat Lena Taylor in her run for mayor, and so far there is no indication of a political motive."

@n64dd: False - he’s also the owner.

Also, you’re guaranteed to win your case if you have a witness for being fired for something so trivial. There are laws that protect employees for being fired for political beliefs.

No, it’s not. Just because you’re an ignoramus who dwells solely online doesn’t mean that everyone else is. There are many cases of people who’ve spoken up about their support for Trump or being anti Black Lies Matter & Klantifa being cancelled & losing their jobs. If you want proof get off your own ass & look for it. You don’t have to go far, unless you watch CNN in which case you have no hope whatsoever.

Many examples and yet you have none........

If I were a betting man, I would wager his silly illegal Tweet is in reference to the accusation of Twitter manipulating data to influence a political election, not necessarily because folks aren't a fan of his.

Also, you’re guaranteed to win your case if you have a witness for being fired for something so trivial. There are laws that protect employees for being fired for political beliefs.

Aren't Republicans generally against such worker-protections?

@horgen: Possibly. Not sure. But not everyone falls in line with every policy of the party they side with.
