Regardless you should stop talking about income as its proven regardless of what state you live in conservatives are on average more successful.

I never discussed conservative vs liberal.

I'm saying Red states, ran by the GOP, are worse overall. And they are. People in those states are voting themselves into worse conditions (THREAD TITLE). I've already proven health was potentially due to their policy. So is education.

https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/ED503486.pdf (Spoilers: They spend a lot less on education).

Red controlled areas have lower HDI, or if you don't like HDI, they have worse economy, health, income, and education. Yes, factoring in SPM and Cost of Living Difference.

@zaryia: Yet blue states have the most poverty. I've proven time and time again the small income difference doesn't make up for the cost of living. You can keep repeating yourself but it doesn't change the fact.

from what little I have looked into it, that appears to be likely true.

I also think looking at entire States and/or who governs them is not a good way to look at it either.

Texas is a perfect example. Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio all from my understanding very Blue despite being in a red state.

That, however, might be because most young people who are looking for jobs are in the city.

so yeah I think the equation is not as simple as people make it out to be. I will say this however, the most expensive places to live in this country are always liberal. (well other than some wealthy zip code within a city like lets say Houston)

@tryit: That's what I've tried to tell him. Red areas pay you less but the poverty by state is becoming worse in blue areas due to cost of living. Making an extra 5k a year doesn't make up for the difference of having to pay $1500.00 more a month for your apartment. Hes relating it solely to income which is laugable.

its a solid theory you would just have to have good numbers to back it up.

starting with the cost of living actually being in line with the pay difference. I know for me it is(was) but that is just me.

but never the less you might be right

Eh by every metric I've found red states are the poor states. Which when you factor in cost of living makes it that much worse.

I don't care about your video link when official documentation exists vis a vis the poverty rate.

Again the top 5

Mississippi

New Mexico

Louisiana

Alabama

Kentucky

Ad hominem attacks make YOU look like the child.

Also an opinion piece which you linked is proof of NOTHING.

@LJS9502_basic: That's not based off the SPM I've already told you this. It does not factor in cost of living.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/chuckdevore/2017/08/22/poverty-in-america-by-the-numbers/amp/

1. California

2. Florida

3. New York

4. Texas

5. Illinois

Poorest states when you factor in the SPM which factors cost of living.

And I've told you there is some debate over the validity of SPM. For instance it takes medical costs into consideration. An impoverished state would have more people on government assistance and they would not have their medical costs included. Whereas in a blue state they may NOT have medical coverage because they fall into the crack between being able to afford insurance and being given it by safety networks.

@blackhairedhero: What causes that? Can it be the fact, that these people are forced to move to blue states because of intolerance they experience in red ones? Or that they just feel safer there, get more help from the community and increase their chances of, you know, kind of surviving?

The income chart I'm using specifically states cost of living is adjusted for....

You're lying to people ITT.

Red states have worse living conditions on average. You can't even come to terms with the 100% fact Red States areas have worse obesity and health.

There are 45 other states.

When you average red vs blue, Red has higher poverty.

For this very reason I'm using both SPM and non SPM. Also Income, adjusted for.

All 3 show Blue taking the win. I'm leaving no stone unturned, Blue is better in every major measure.

@zaryia: No it doesn't lmao. I've told you the measures blue states are worse off.

And your "adjusted for cost of living measure" is wrong. I showed you the median income vs the cost of living. The small wage increase does not cover it.

@blackhairedhero: Matter of perspective, if you are a homeless person, might be not as much difference as we would like there to be. By saying "forced" I didn't mean physically, btw.

@hansbak: Its just a laugable assumption. I live in a red state but it doesn't mean there are not extremely progressive areas around me. We live in a global society so you don't have to go far to find a community that will share in your beliefs regardless of what they are.

Of for ***** sake...........finding people that think as you do is not comparable to having to live under economic decisions based on party in power. Seriously dude I hope you're young because if not........wow.
