Definitely. But it is the Papadopoulos guilty plea that seems to be the serious overall (or at least that is what I choose to restate from the news stories) ....also because Manafort and Gates both entered a not guilty plea.

To be honest I am not surprised to see Manafort be one of the first indicted. He had serious problems with his involvement in Ukrainian politics and his pro-Russian support on that side of the world.

So much ado about not a lot. Manafort and Gates on tax fraud going back to before they were even part of Trump's campaign.

More than anything, today symbolizes is a big step down a long road. And if anyone was expecting a member of the first family to be named on the first conviction...well, they're just not being realistic.

@R3FURBISHED: Yes pretty much nothing. He was charged with lying and thereby impeding an investigation. He pled guilty. The crime is punishable by up to 6 months in jail and a fine of up to $9,500. Those are maximums.

Absolutely no new information has been released except he lied about the timing of a conversation. And it is readily apparent that this is/was all about a nobody looking for any way to make himself look self important.

Every other comment on this dude is from pundits with zero evidence. They are all citing leverage... why plead guilty unless he has something to give? Except he pled guilty to a trivial charge. Either way, today set the tone moving forward -- that this Russia investigation is not just a idle fancy but a criminal case.

This investigation is about Russian collusion. The difference between Trump and Hillary is there is no evidence pointing to Trump, but loads of evidence of Hillary and the DNC collusion. Hillary sold our security for cash to the Russians. That is all right because she is above the law.

The Dems spent $9,000,000 on the Dossier and now all have memory loss. Obama spent nearly $1,000,000 himself. Some of the money spent went to the Russians. There is your collusion.

The charges against Manafort occurred when he was working with the Podesta Group not Trump. If anything it can be traced to Hillary.

Tony just resigned from the chairman's job of the Podesta Group he founded with his brother John Podesta. As soon as Hillary lost the election their client fees disappeared. It all goes back to pay for play by the Clinton's. There are a number of people caught up in the Uranium One deal including Muller and the person that appointed him. A lot of heads are going to fall as a result of this deal.

Let's stick with what's important. Trump is president. Clinton is not. If your only defense is pointing fingers then you have NO defense.

The evil that men do live after them Hillary committed serious crimes while in office and being out of office does not exempt her. Even it Trump is found to have colluded with the Russians it is not a crime.

I'd like to hope so. But so far it is all tangential. Maybe it will lead to other things. Or maybe they are going with what they have, because they don't have anything else.

I will await further developments, but right now none of what has been disclosed so far is going to get rid of the problem.

Being tangential can lead to something substantive. Watergate started as something tangential. My biggest worry at this point is that Trump is just going to continue to have people fall on their swords for him. I see this as more likely to turn out like Iran-Contra than Watergate.

Republicans just introduced a resolution to remove Mueller from the Trump-Russia investigation

WASHINGTON — A group of conservative Republican lawmakers introduced a resolution on Friday calling for Robert Mueller to recuse himself as the special counsel investigating Russia's interference in the 2016 US election and whether President Donald Trump's campaign team colluded with Moscow.

Reps. Matt Gaetz of Florida, Andy Biggs of Arizona, and Louie Gohmert of Texas say Mueller should step down because he was the FBI director in 2010 when US government agencies approved the sale of Uranium One, a Canadian energy company, to a Russian nuclear-energy firm. The deal required approval because Uranium One had mining operations in the US.

Gaetz says the issue is that Mueller's FBI had found evidence of criminal activity that may have been relevant to the deal but did not bring any charges, and that Mueller therefore should recuse himself from the current investigation.

"These deeply troubling events took place when Mr. Mueller was the Director of the FBI. As such, his impartiality is hopelessly compromised," Gaetz said in a statement. "He must step down immediately."

Many of Gaetz's Republican colleagues, however, have previously expressed support for Mueller and his investigation. Senate Republicans have even introduced bills to create a barrier between Trump and Mueller in the event the president attempts to fire him.

Some conservatives have latched on to the Uranium One deal recently, pointing to a report tangentially tying the deal to the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton, who was the secretary of state at the time, and her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

3. I never stated Trump colluded. I'm awaiting the full investigation, which has merit. Too many Russian contacts within the Trump campaign, WHILE Russia was meddling with our election (confirmed).
