Because forget the constitution. These clowns think you should only be able to vote if you vote for them. The GOP has become terrifying, like Fascist Italy terrifying. Even more scary is the right is on board with taking away our rights so they can stay in power.

If you are taking seriously the opinions of Marjorie green that's on you.

Mean tweets again. Must be a slow news day.

On a related note since I know about a dozen retired officers who moved to states like Montana and Idaho, they all have reported receiving initial negative comments because of their California license plates. I understand their disdain though.

@Stevo_the_gamer: This was the response for an entire administration, and then they tried to overthrow the government. Perhaps we should start taking them at their word.

Government overthrown? Must be a slow news day.

Fall of US? Must be a slow news day. Unless there is a democrat in office.

We more or less know the responses already. Perhaps we should just ignore some of them?

Exactly, comrade! This is a clear example of yet another straw breaking not only the camel's back, but the complete unraveling of the Constitutional Republic itself. We should start rounding up this sort of speech and make an example of them.

@Stevo_the_gamer: I'd settle for our supposed law enforcement officers not making excuses for their actions and dismissing their words with, "they're just words about sedition/restricting rights, but I see where they're coming from."

And republicans have been working a while now to undermine the democratic culture of the US.

Yep. And their entire party, including some in the military and law enforcement agree with their actions.

Guess they were slow news days.

Her toxic partisanship goes further,

Now she is advocating for divorce between red states and blue states. Nevermind the fact that red and blue states is a real poor predictor of political leanings. Urban density is a much better predictor.

@LJS9502_basic: It gets worse, a retired general even warned that a coup in 2024 could possibly happen.

Oh I don't doubt the GOP would still like to do that. That's why the Dems need to remove the filibuster and push voting rights through. Clock is ticking if they lose too much in midterms, it's over.

That's so stupid lmao. Also does she know Blue states fund Red ones?

AP FACT CHECK: Blue high-tax states fund red low-tax states | AP News

I can use insane MTG logic and say "leftists should be allowed to vote first, hur dur" due to this. While this might be a joke (Can't tell with lunatic MTG), several recent bills and laws to restrict voting by the GOP are not.

They do this to reduce voter turn out in certain areas to improve their chances. Any one on this forum telling you they recently did this for more "secure" elections is either brainwashed or lying. 2020 was the most secure one in history.

@Maroxad said:

I think Vfighter is just trolling. This is a fact confirmed on video (congress election confirmation on CSPAN) and leaked texts. They literally said they tried to do this.

The new right takes gas-lighting to a whole new level. He randomly says people are "delusional" or something is a "narrative" after typing a fact. It's impossible to debate the most simple things when objective reality itself is questioned whether it be the election, climate change, or covid.

@LJS9502_basic The left needs to be a lot less focused on its long term goals and focus more on the short term. As nice as medicare for all is, a liberal in the white house is massively preferential over another para-fascist, or worse, an actual fascist. Democracy here is at stake and the lefties need to realize this.

Yeah, we constantly get attacked for using reputable media organizations, medical research institutes and even scientists.

For all their criticisms of us living in a post truth society, they resemble what it would mean a whole lot more.

Did you see when Ben Shapiro more or less admitted he doesnt care what scholars actually demonstrate, because his feelings really dont jibe with the facts they present? That is sadly what we are dealing with every day, when talking to these people.

since we're opening the box on fucking with people's voting rights now...

i suggest that once an individual hits the age of 70, the value of their vote starts to decrease. for example at 70 the value of their vote drops to 75%. at 75, it drops to 65% etc...

the reason being the older you get, the less likely you'll be around for the full impact of your vote to be felt. why should a bunch 80+ year olds who vote en masse get to choose politicians who will **** up the country after they're dead and don't have to worry about it?

A breakdown at the fundamental level to where society as we know it is ceasing to function! It starts with a Tweet, ends with despotism. People should be asking why so many people are leaving blue states to live in red states.

NY and CA are bleeding people while places like Texas and Florida are growing in population.

Why

Are we talking about the same right wing conservatives that cry over Mr. Potato Head and Dr. Seuss books on twitter? Boy, you sure do give too much credit to the original 'cancel culture' crowd of the moral majority. You may have missed the last 50 years of their persistent outcries.

Conservatives cry over losing fair elections, just imagine if sitting democratic members of Congress were openly suggesting we curtail Republican votes. WOWZ. That is some grade A delusion I'm seeing.

@sargentd: Who is to say they left because of left wing politics?

If anything evidence seems to support the notion that the reason they are leaving is because of Housing Costs (there are other factors too of course). Housing costs in turn have made it too expensive to live in California, so you can save a lot of money moving some place cheaper. Especially since California is a service economy and as COVID has demonstrated to us, a lot of those jobs can be done from home, no need to go to an actual office.

Most people want to own a home, and as it happens, affording a house would take 125ish years for the average family while it would only take 12 in Houston.

However, this is a moot point, this is NOT a Rust Belt scenario, but more akin to a trend.

lol, oh whataboutism. The overwhelming majority (97%) of "political content" on Twitter are done by a small minority of users (10%). I think far too many folks put stock into mean tweets, or better yet, use said tweets to gear national discussions. But plenty get off on the doom scrolling, to each their own!

@Maroxad: housing costs are high due to over regulation and high taxes. Democrats have had full control of these areas for decades and it has only steadily gotten worse. San Fran is a great example of this.

Democrat ran cities have the greatest wealth disparities in the country.

@sargentd: This might surprise you, but some issues exist outside the left-right political spectrum.

Gavin Newsom has been pushing for housing deregulations for a while now. The opposition comes generally speaking, from NIMBYs. NIMBYs include both democrats and republicans.

California just eliminated single family residential zoning this past fall as well. That is a good first step in the right direction. If we look at this issue by the numbers, new home construction has lagged for a while now, which is a main driver on cost with respect to supply.

You do you, champ! If you wish to paint the picture of the end of the constitutional republic is at hand, be my guest. That's the beauty of being able to discuss these items, or mock them for their absurdity/silliness. I'm just over here enjoying my morning (almost afternoon) coffee. The end is nigh though...for 2021! Hopefully 2022 brings more moderation and less #meantweets.

Edit: This was posted as a news alert advised of Betty White's passing. God damn it 2021!

She was talking about states (literally her words), and blue states have a much higher HDI and QOl on average. As do Blue counties. GOP runs stuff much worse.

Her logic still makes no sense. Although it rarely does. MTG is a psycho.

@zaryia: yeah it was a dumb comment, if someone is a resident there they get a vote. Doesn't matter where they moved from. MGT looking for attention imo with this comment. Left will give her it.

Does bring attention to the mass Exodus of blue cities tho.

@sargentd: You do realize California used to be a red state, right? It only became a blue state in the 90's. By then most, if not all of these regulations were already put in place.

I dont think he will have enough time to do it with his government alone, but he is making steps in the right directions. 70 years of terrible urban planning can not be undone in one term. Especially with how strong NIMBYs are politically in California.

Blaming democrats or left wing politics for the overpriced housing is ridicilous.

Especially since the reason those housing regulations were put there in the first place was to exclude certain groups of people in the first place, namely poor and people of colour.

@Maroxad: bro we are about to be in 2022 and you are saying they haven't had enough time to make it better since the 90's....

BTW I was born in 92 about to turn 30, it's been blue since I've existed.. they have had plenty of time to fix this, or atleast try to. Instead the last couple decades it only got worse, only when it's truly a shithole and buisnesses and residents start leaving in droves do the CA Dems start trying to do something. Great start, but too late imo 👍

Good luck to CA

@sargentd: Was it even a issue back in the 90's?

The model of infinite growth was a model that worked well back then. The cracks of the model wasnt really all too visible, and supporting, proper sustainable growth was nowhere near popular or politically viable to run with until a few years ago. What we are seeing in california is not due to a sudden change in policy, but due to the inevitable result turning growth into a ponzi scheme.

At least the democrats are now trying to do something about it.

@Maroxad: too many taxes, too expensive, too many regulations, it's just not a good state to do business or just live properly and own property.

Don't you find it ironic that these places are ran by Dems who run on helping the poor year after year but end up caring more about tech start ups than the homeless once they get in?
