I wish the Republicans would call people like her out. I mean a.) I'm tired of democrats whining and b.) this is pretty terrible behavior from anyone.

Stuff like this should not be tolerated, but I guess the dumb bitch has been censured and removed from various committees. Not sure what else they can really do.

Not really sure why so many people on here are so passive and accepting of behavior like this. Pretty disheartening to hear people go "Slow news day" or "who cares?" and such. You wouldn't accept your family, friends, kids, or partners talking like these people; not really sure why you would accept your politicians talking like this.

Do they agree with it? Or are they just toeing the line because they want to win, for whatever reason?

I mean the percentage of the country that actually supports the modern GOP and far right is not a huge amount, less than 40% based on what polls you read. Most people (60+%) tend to favor more progressive stuff.

Ignoring trolls just let's their ideas flourish. They should be challenged. Otherwise we will continue to have radicalized people.

@LJS9502_basic: It is also why the culture wars cannot be ignored. As much as I would like to focus on more important issues.

Whether it is their nonsense against CRT, Big Tech conspiracy theories or denial of the validity of transgender people. Bad ideas cannot be allowed to take root, because people will vote informed by these ideas.

Or in the case of this thread, their constant allusions to suppressing the votes of democrats (or flat out killing them).

Yes. Thats why mtg needs to be challenged on her evil ideas and why Trump needs to be challenged. Its also why Eoten needs to be called out everytime he posts anything.

You think I'm trolling?!
Don't invalidate me. I'm just sharing my truth.

Besides, we know Republicans are evil, so why would anyone want to move to their states anyway? Would you wouldn't a bunch of dumbfuck rednecks moving into New York and voting in all their racist and anti-science shit, right? So you shouldn't worry about them restricting voting rights of new arrivals to their stats as we should honestly should be doing the same anyway. :)

You can't vote in another country until you went through the trouble of gaining citizenship, right? This should be the same on a state/province level within countries as well. People shouldn't just be able to move from area to area to take advantage when the times are good and then just bail without consequences as soon as it gets bad because chances are, if every place they move too starts to stop being good a few years after they've lived there, the problem is probably them.

Okay real talk, this isn't related to the thread but I haven't been on GameSpot for a couple years.

What the **** happened to this website? There is barely any activity, I remember there being a lot more features, and the options we have don't work as well.

I just tried to reply to another thread and I wanted to reply to someone asking a question about Windows 11. I simply wanted to cut down his put to just a couple sentences to address. It wouldn't work. Then I copy-pasted them and tried to put it in a quote format and respond to it that way what then everything I would write would just become part of the entire quote. Is there also a 'dark theme' by chance? Without Darkreader all the white is burning my eyes.

I'm stupid please help. :(

Impeachment is a part democratic governments if law makers or officials conduct illegal activities. In Trump's case, he attempted to extort a foreign country for political gain and incited an insurrection in attempt to decertify election results. Both of these warrant impeachment. I fail to see the comparison.

Well the Democrats spent 4 years trying to impeach a president and managed to do it twice. So honestly the Democrats already proved they don't respect Democracy.

I think I'm just going to leave this website again cause it seems to be dying and they just remove features. No longer trolling, honest thoughts.

1) The concept of "impeach twice", is like saying someone was murdered twice. Impeach means to be successfully removed, which he wasn't. They successfully voted to impeach him in the house but the Republicans controlled the sensate. The whole idea of the '2nd impeachment' was some odd attempt to bar him from entering politics again, which didn't work unless we're going get news in 2024 that the Republicans won't let him run.
He's a dumb boomer anyway that just cares about being able to post on Twitter again. Everyone over age 50 should be barred from political positions to be honest. Too old and mentally slow to be in touched with how technology works or what the average person thinks.

2) No one should democracy. "Two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner."

It was meant to be that only tax payers could cote, and back then the only taxes were tariffs and land, which translated to only landowners could vote. This is mainly for the federal level, of course, different states and towns made their own rules and some did allow everyone to vote. And honestly, local elections even today directly affect your life than the presidency.

And every needs to shut up about "muh constitution!"

The 'Founding Fathers' (as if they were some monolith that agreed on everything) would be vehemently against:
1) Having a standing army
2) Having a fiat currency
3) Having a central bank
4) Enforcing a global hegemony.

These are needed today and aren't going to go away. Any arguments about following the constitution has been pointless for a long time. Besides, everyone knows already "they're secretly on the same side so our votes don't matter" so why care? If it did though, the person OP is complaining about is right. If democrat voters are going to flee to red states and just vote for the same shit, there should be some defense against that so they can't just flee from state to state like locusts. Me thinks OP is upset because he knows she's right.

I actually don't care and just want to enjoy the decline. If any of you actually care go ahead and try to get the revolution started. I'll join whoever wins. :D

If most people can't even say 'no' to a shinny new video game despite all the disdain for what the major game publishers do and how they increase the cost for games via more DLCs, microtransations, lootboxes, and now these silly little 'NFT' nonsense, no one is actually going to do anything serious like overthrow the system.

But if anyone thinks they may, here is some motivational music.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpOZddKCWag

Anyway, this website is awful and there is barely anyone still here. Going back to Reddit.

That was a done in a purely legal and constitutional manner. This is an absurd false equivalency.

When it comes to 2020 the methods Trump's team were considering were either utterly shot down in several courts because of how psycho they were (I can link all of them if you want), or weren't attempted because they wouldn't be constitutional or legal (I can link all of the texts/documents if you want). Like wanting Pence to not certifying. They literally wanted several State votes to not count lol. Loony crazy unconstitutional shit.

When it comes to beyond 2020, several of the voting restriction laws/bills are not grounded in reality. Of which many legal scholars find unconstitutional. No study supports them, and they are based off of 2020 lies. Protip: Don't spam bills and laws based off of a blatant lie.

When it comes to 2020 Gerrymandering, These maps show how Republicans are blatantly rigging elections | US voting rights | The Guardian. Seems like Republicans are ramping up on that and far more than Democrats. There is no defending Gerrymandering and the GOP is doing it more atm.

I guess when you have less national voters you have to do stuff like this.

They talked about impeachment from the first day he was elected. They never gave him a chance. And when your party gets demolished this year and two years from now it won't be because of gerrymandering.

People are trying to restrict the freedom of speech others regardless of political affiliations, whether it is whiny wokescolds on the left trying to get people fired or the death threats and harassment campaigns from the right, there are a lot of terrible people out there.

But these represent the weakest elements of both sides, and I cannot for reasons of good faith let them represent anyone.

Instead, we have to look at actual representatives. Republican lawmakers have repeatedly made efforts to suppress votes, put into question the democratic process and overall undermined democracy.

Experts and foreign nations arent warning that the US is a backsliding democracy because of Democrats, we are doing so because of Republicans. To a former president flat out refusing to accept the results of the election.

Ps: did you wan't to flag some more of my post to try to silence me when i hurt your feelings ?

BS. The right is removing books from schools.

@LJS9502_basic: I find it so bizarre, when the right assumes the left is trying to shut down free speech. Do these people not remember gamergate?

Or the doxxing culture? Or the fact that right wingers in europe have gone straight to the book burnings, and US republicans are now entertaining the same thoughts? Or the fact that cancel culture was first used to describe right wing behaviour? Or the hostility South Korean feminists face? Women with short hair or having certain literature is a surefire way to get into a lot of trouble. Or the constant death threats and other forms of coercion?

But yeah, let's cherrypick a few cringy wokescolds and assume that represents the entirety of the left.

Of course to be fair, this also does not represent the right, HOWEVER the difference is, as far as I know, these wokescolds these tribalists try to paint us with hold very little power. meanwhile people who have partaken in the stuff I listed above are in some cases in very high positions of power.

This is a list of books that the Texas Lawmaker Matt Krause wants more information on. Again an elected represntative, not a 19 year old college freshman.

I know I shouldn't judge a book by its cover.. eh well name in this case. I do fail to see the controversy "The five stages of Andrew Brawley" could cause... to lets say the very first book in that list, "2020 Black Lives Matter marches" if I try to view it from a conservative view point.

I wonder if this incident was the last straw twitter had with MTG. Or if she said something even more stupid afterwards.

Edit: It seems it was more anti-vaxxer stuff. But yeah.

Great. They talked about a legal and constitutional process. When they actually did the two impeachments, both times had ample evidence of their claims, and neither were done illegally or unconstitutionally.

That's quite a bit different than talking about Pence not certifying (unconstitutional), being shot down in several courts when lying about election fraud when trying to make millions of votes not count (due to lack of evidence and constitutionality), 147 Republicans voting to undo millions of votes on January 6th with 0 evidence, making laws/bills based off of said lie (many bills which didn't make it due to lack of constitutionally), and being the main force of severe gerrymandering at the moment. I'm pretty sure you know what legal experts and most Americans think of gerrymandering. And I'm not even going to get into the whole pressuring State election officials in Nov/Dec 2020 thing....that's a whole post on itself.

Apples and Orange. False Equivalency by a large margin. You're going to have to get back to me when Democrats do anything on the level of the GOP when it comes to the 2020 Election lunacy. Thus far in recent US history such a thing doesn't exist. This is a matter of historical fact.

And when your party gets demolished this year and two years from now it won't be because of gerrymandering.

Off-topic, that's obvious due to the cyclical nature of US politics. But It will certainly have some effect.

@zaryia: They're just looking for anything to rationalize their voter suppression and attempted takeover. They support it. It's not socially acceptable to do so. They're trying to work backwards from their desired conclusion to make it so.

@zaryia: And the Trump Cult wonders why we don't take them seriously when they deny their racism.

It is stuff like this.

@LJS9502_basic: Nah they still deny their racism.

They just use various excuses for it.

They also seem to refuse to own up to their far right positions, even the ones who actively endorsed genocide in Palestine.

Every. Single. One. Of. Them.

I've yet to meet a single Republican in life (or on this board) that isn't complicit in the slightest. They were all at a cross roads decades ago with a choice: Change your party platform to stay relevant, or , ditch democratic representative rule.

They chose the latter. As you said, now they're working backwards to justify their choice. They're a perpetual minority party that spends every minute figuring out on how to retain power through suppression, gerrymandering, or outright decertification.

You know Republicans can't handle this truth.

Well the Democrats spent 4 years trying to impeach a president and managed to do it twice. Hearing them act like they give a shit about Democracy is amusing..

What are you talking about? Impeachment is a process operating within the boundaries of democracy. How do they not give a toss about democracy because they sought impeachment? That's like saying a lawyer doesn't care about the law because they're seeking a murder conviction.

These attempts at false equivalence trying to compare the democrats impeaching Trump to his attempts to fundamentally undermine democracy and sow disrepute in its process for over a year now vomiting up nothing but complete fabrications (with pretty much the entirety of the cowardly, anti-democratic, sycophantic Republican base emboldening him) are laughable. There is no comparison.

Interesting, this is the first time I have looked at the creator of the holiday. Convicted of false imprisonment and felonious assualt. And the details of the case are categorically horrific.

On September 17, 1971, Karenga was sentenced to one to ten years in prison on counts of felonious assault and false imprisonment. The charges stemmed from a May 9, 1970 incident in which Karenga and two others tortured two women who Karenga believed had tried to kill him by placing “crystals” in his food and water.

A year later the Los Angeles Times described the events: “Deborah Jones, who once was given the title of an African queen, said she and Gail Davis were whipped with an electrical cord and beaten with a karate baton after being ordered to remove their clothes. She testified that a hot soldering iron was placed in Miss Davis' mouth and placed against Miss Davis' face and that one of her own big toes was tightened in a vice. Karenga, head of US, also put detergent and running hoses in their mouths, she said.”

The shooting at UCLA caused Karenga to become deeply paranoid and spurred his bizarre behavior. At his trial, the question of Karenga's sanity arose. The psychiatrist's report stated, “This man now represents a picture which can be considered both paranoid and schizophrenic with hallucinations and elusions, inappropriate affect, disorganization, and impaired contact with the environment.” The psychiatrist observed that Karenga talked to his blanket and imaginary persons and believed that he had been attacked by dive-bombers. - Link

How would you describe him and his behavior towards these black women Zaryia?

I'm talking about her gas lighting and dog whistles by calling it a fake religion and attacking people for celebrating it. As described in the article. It's not even a religion,

Marjorie Taylor Greene calls Kwanzaa 'a fake religion created by a psychopath' | TheHill

"Kwanzaais not a religion, but rather a cultural holiday and celebration for African Americans."

The College Republicans didn’t respond to Greene’s comments, insteadretweetinga numberof additionalKwanzaarelatedtweetsby other conservatives.

Do you consider wishing people a Happy Kwanzaa pandering? Do you consider it a fake religion? Would you attack someone for merely saying that?

Sounds like a Karen.

You weren't clear in your post. So the "too scared to use the N word like she truly wants to" is in reference to the supporting the holiday part, and not in reference to the creator?

They didn't have ample evidence or else he would have been removed.

They objectively had ample evidence and I can link pages of it from valid sources (you can't do the same for the 2020 election lunacy), which is why he was factually impeached twice. Whether you think that evidence was enough to remove is subjective, and the vote was entirely partisan politics (R Senate).

But that's besides the point, it was legal and constitutional. The process was done by the book. Comparing this to the 2020 Election lunacy, which was 100% unarguably based on a lie and resulted in several unconstitutional attempts or ideas, is simply laughable.

Like I said, a gross false equivalency.

I guess she was right when it comes to the creator.

But attacking someone for saying "Happy Kwanza" by calling them pandering and calling it a "fake religion" is really dumb crazy Karen shit.
